[GUIDE] Thinkpad T420 with (Mountain) Lion

Don't use iAtk0s. Do a clean install using Unibe@$t with a 10.7 Golden master. 10.7.1 and 10.7.2 feature the infamous graphics glitches, but with 10.7 you should be fine. It'll make everything a lot smoother. Upon your first boot move everything with AppleIntelSNB* in the front to a folder called backup in S/L/E. Then once you're in run ###### with Macbook 8,1 Presets. Once you're through with that replace the original AppleIntelSNB*s and graphics should run natively. Keyboard should work as well after running multibe@st. I'm successfully running 10.7 Lion on my T420 with Sound, Wifi, full Graphics, 1600x900, Keyboard,Mouse, and even freaking multitouch haha. Just the SD card reader doesnt work but ahh who cares (in my case) GOOD LUCK!

Just asking but does your laptop work fine without being attached to an external monitor? Last time I updated to ML I had really horrible graphics lags known to the community as ring stalls.

[GUIDE] Thinkpad T420 with (Mountain) Lion

Yes. The fix I found was that if I installed just 10.7, (the original release) instead of 10.7.2,3, or 4, the graphics glitches, artifacting, squares, and ring freezes went away completely. Everything works beautifully with full QE/CL. I have no idea why haha. I basically did a vanilla install using unibe@st and then just followed the instructions in the first post. Everything works except my SD card reader. Good thing im not a frequent photographer. What are your exact specs by the way?

[GUIDE] Thinkpad T420 with (Mountain) Lion

I did! You mean just the AppleIntelSNB kext right? Thats the only one I saw in the first post. I got in with GraphicsEnabler=No and used Kext Utility to rename the original to *.bak and place the modified one instead. I rebooted and its fixed but I get awful system hangs now. As much as opening chrome or safari will freeze my T420 for 10-15 seconds. Quite annoying in fact....but at least its working I guess.

[GUIDE] Thinkpad T420 with (Mountain) Lion

Hey a little help here So I installed 10.7 as per Tonymac's guide with a T420 Intel HD 3000. No nvidia at all. I booted into, installed DSDT and everything worked beautifully. I didnt even patch any kexts yet! Ran ###### and rebooted. downloaded 10.7.4 combo update, the download one not the software update. Ran ###### again and rebooted. now this is what I get. It shows up after the spinning wheel under the apple. I can enter in my password and press enter and the lines seem to change. its booting up fine but the graphics are messed. anyone wanna help me out? Hehehe.

[GUIDE] Thinkpad T420 with (Mountain) Lion

If anyone can help me I will be endlessly grateful. Here is what I did for Mountain Lion. I installed using ######. Boot up from USB Drive bootloader into Mountain Lion. Resolution is messed up but should be fixed after DSDT Patch right? Run ###### with ONLY UserDSDT (Manwe150' from 1st post) and SMBIOS Macbook Pro 8,1. Reboot Kernel Panic The Kernel panic traces to AppleIntelCPUPowerManagement for some reason. Hmmmmmmmm Anyone know what I can do? I can easily get back in to edit the files since I have another partition with 10.7.2 installed. I've had 10.8 installed on a different partition.

Hey Crumpo, how is your T420 working without the laptop dock? Like as a standalone machine, is the resolution and QE/CL working fine? I never managed to get full QE/CL even with 10.7.2.

[GUIDE] Thinkpad T420 with (Mountain) Lion

MOUNTAIN LION UPDATE: Okay. So I tried installing per this guy's guide: http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=280756 Using USB Method after Buying off App Store from Lion and doing various mods and such described in the guide I get to the installer fine and all but can someone tell me why the hell the color of my monitor is so weird, and I can only see half of the installer screen. Finding the agree button on the terms and conditions part is freaking near impossible, but at least I was able to drag the Disk Utility window to the left a little. The screen stayed the same until after the installation. Booted into ML. (omg so happy). But the screen was still the friggin the same I'm only looking at the left part of the screen. I can move my cursor to the right but I cant see it. Also something is really wrong with the color and the pixels. Suspecting soemthing to do with retina display? idk. I have the HD3000. I'll post a picture in the morning its pretty late. I'ma sleep. Can't wait to get Mountain Lion up and running! Hopefully you guys can help me. I honestly don't know what to do next. I'm thinking of patching the DSDT with Manwes but idk if thats a good idea or not lol. Well if anyone has any suggestions I'm all ears. haha My system Specs: Lenovo Thinkpad T420 4177 Intel Core i5 2450m Factory 4 GB Ram Intel HD3000 Graphics WOAH! You're way ahead of me haha. Have you tried patching the DSDT with ######? Use Manwe150's that was posted somewhere in this thread. I hear its compatible with Lion as well as ML. It should be the same ML isn't that much different than Lion itself. Other than we hackintosh community members have to scramble all over the place to get it running stable again haha

[GUIDE] Thinkpad T420 with (Mountain) Lion

THIS THIS THIS! Finally I found someone with my problem! I have installed 10.7.2 successfully on a Thinkpad T420 4177 (i5 2450 Intel HD 3000 only, 4 GB RAM) Wifi works with patched BIOS provided in this thread with a Dell 1510 card I bought for less than $5 on eBay. Thanks so much to Manwe150 for this he is a legend. Without this guide I don't know where I would have been haha. Hes helped me a lot via private message too. I have resolution at full 1600x900 but I have also unfortunately been experiencing a lot of lag and hangs when doing light graphic stuff. Microsoft Word is un-usable...can't even scroll. Mission Control operates at 0.1 frames per second (exaggeration obviously but its unusable). I have heavy artifacting veyr time I select stuff on the desktop. Anyone know a sure fix for this? I have the same BIOS as manwe150, the one that patched the blacklist for the wifi card. I forget what version.
  11. Hi guys! I'm a new member to this forum and have recently been browsing hundreds of threads on the installation of Lion on Intel Computers. I have learned quite a lot but unfortuntely not enough. I was hoping you guys could help me out. I own a Lenovo Thinkpad T420 4177 with an i5 2450m Processor. I installed using iAtkos L2. And before you nail me on this one I did try the Lion retail version first. I bought it from the app store on my sister's Macbook and created a bootable USB Drive. Black Screen everywhere. So I had to sidestep to this method. Things that ARENT WORKING Video: I'm stuck at a really basic resolution. Quite painful on the eyes. I have used ###### to try to install Kexts from here: Sound: I tried the modded AppleHDA.kext found here: But I keep getting the popup message that says "System extension cannot be used The system extension "/System/Library/Extensions/AppleHDA.kext was installed improperly and cannot be used. Please try reinstalling it, or contact the produc's vendor for an update." I used ###### for both. And I deleted the vanilla AppleHDA kext before using ###### to put in the modded version. Things that WORKED with some work Keyboard, Multitouch on the trackpad and the right and left clicking keys are working! Wifi is working after buying a Broadcom half card off ebay! I can boot into OSX! (<-greatest achievement thanks to you guys!) hope you guys can help me fix these nasty bugs! P.S - while typing this message I got a bunch of more "improperly installed kext" messages about various kexts. I closed them too fast to see which ones.
  12. Hi guys! So complete NOOB here. But hoping to change that with this OSX installation. I have a Lenovo Thinkpad T420 4177 with Intel HD 3000 and an i5 processor. (2520m). I have 4 GB of factory installed RAM and a 320 GB hard drive. I was hoping you guys could help me out. I have a retail copy of the Snow Leopard DVD. So what I did was burned iB00t and then used it to boot the retail DVD. It took like two full minutes but then I saw this: I tried going into verbose mode but same thing. I changed the mode to ACHI in BIOS and everything. I don't know whats going on. I also tried all the other flags like GraphicsEnabler=No and PCIRootUID=1 but to no avail. Can anyone help me out? Thanks! I think it might be the problem but I actually have all my other partitions still existing during this installation. I have 3 boot options that show up when I put in the ib00t cd. Windows 7, Lenovo Backup, and System Drive. Should I do some formatting or something? Sorry I'm so clueless. Hope someone could help:) EDIT: Do you guys think this is the problem? I'm using this DVD http://i46.tinypic.com/oi547p.jpg
