1. Tablet PC update

I know I'm opening an old topic here but I've got 10.5.8 working on my LE1600. Still in progress, but if any of you guys are still on this project you fancy collaborating to get it sweet?? Pretty sure everything should work after a bit of hassle. I've a spare drive for it and I did have success installing 10.6.7/8 but only booting from the Nawcom boot onto a retail copy. couldnt get it to work without nawcom.
2. System-ID

Thanks a lot. Sorry about the long reply. I'll look around and do a bit more research so I understand it fully.
3. I should've added the sarcasm tags.
4. Ok. Simple when you know how. ;-) I'm glad you bought one of these laptops
5. How do you get to that? I'm presuming you monitor the console and logs from a second os install??! Or is it just tricks you pick up from experience. I'll second this. Nice one lads...
6. System-ID

Nice one mate.. I'll have a look through and give it a bash!
7. System-ID

Hi, I'm trying to define my system ID so I can run 10.7. I've got 10.6 installed on a partition next to it, so have a working system to make changes from. Can someone tell me how/where I can find this. Is it anything to do with my Hardware id in system profile?? Secondly when I find it and define it in com.apple.Boot.plist do I put it in between the <string> tags?? Thanks
8. Is there a way I can run the patch-hda.pl & the AppleACPIPlatform.mcp79.v1.6.pkg to install to a different OSX partition?? I'm trying to install the changes to a different partition that won't currently boot (ACPI Issues). As I understand it, I have to change the directory and run them from Terminal??
9. Speedy response with the updates. I was having problems with sound on my 10.6.8 installation. Got 2 side-by-side with windows 7 now. One at 10.6.7 and another purely for testing of patches/upgrades etc.. Fair point. I've only been a Mac user for nearly a week now (so still learning) so I don't know where the recommended places are and the blaggers to avoid... I was simply sharing info on what helped me solve my problem which was the laptop freezing at [PCI Configuration Begin] and then going no-where from there. If you don't mind mate, that'd be wicked! P.S. Your DSDT.aml for A14 BIOS works fine on the A15 BIOS also.

11. it was the latest one burnt to cd, with retail osx on a dual layer dvd. couldnt get it to find osx on usb. wasnt able to load into anything but the retail cd then term from there to revert things etc.
12. Chill, It didnt just come about like that. Im limited to mobile broadband at home or via a playbook, so no large downloads, and I was doing it guideless till i found this thread otherwise i wouldve used this method. As it was it went pretty well and im happy with the learning curve. Finding fault finding a bit more logical now. only pointers i needed and ive said thanks. Anyway after the 10.6.8 update I got the PCI configuration begin error, but fixed that with ##### and Retail setup, which was the OS version you mentioned.
13. I made that change already. I was editing another file of the same name elsewhere. Guessing the one in extra overrides that. Yeah, & in my wisdom I even ran the 10.6.8 update today. Ooops. There's a thread here of use though and I'm just going through it now. Repatching. Will let you know how it goes although you are probably way ahead of me. Yeah I think it is backwards, just like the windows flag on the keyboard to be the apple logo on the mac.. visual 'flag' excuse the pun. I managed to change it in the control panel equiv. Thanks for the pointers though, I'm getting more confident with delving into things now i kinda understand mac structure. Little linux background helps with console/terminal commands Anyway. Off to tackle this now with ##### and my trusty usb stick.. Also. My method of install was slightly different. I used the Nawcom boot and Retail release. Seemed to pack out loads of drivers in the install. Just researching it now too. Without this thread I doubt I'd be running a sweet ass system like I am now.. Minus the 10.6.8 update, Fortunately I had ghosted the drive beforehand.
14. Sorry about the rushed reply. I was on 7% battery on a wireless dongle at 1am. This was what I was trying to do, but could locate the kext. I've found it this morning and removed it and everything else seems to be working top, including the sound. I've got Traktor/VDJ and a few other apps I want to test out my DVS. External firewire interface that's supposed to work natively with OSX so fingers crossed, as it's nothing to do with onboard sound that'll work too. ToDo: Swap these bloody Alt/Win keys over. Run other updates Change chameleon to start mach_kernel not default_kernel Appreciate your help and you uploading the files you've used. You've saved me a whole load of hunting round trying to learn from the inside out, but I've got a lot of grip on OSX since 3 days ago when I started playing. I'm actually starting to prefer this over Windows. Just need to do something about the way files/folders show up. It's so ugly just files not auto adjusting. lol
15. Hi again.. Can't get past these KP's.
