  1. I'm using ATIinject, with the correct EDID and everything. Drivers work ok, etc., but 50% of the time, I boot up into a blue/black stripe screen. Other details in the sig, this isn't urgent, but would like to know if there's a fix or something I can do to lower the chances of it booting up into that. Booting using verbose mode (-v) makes no difference. I sometimes have to try 3-4x to reboot, but so far never more that that. Thanks.

  3. SoundMax AD198x - AC97 Sound

@ bijoux: Hey, I got the same laptop and same vendor and dev ids. Unfortunately, I also got the same problems, and tried a lot of the methods out there. Tell me if you got a fix, I'll do the same if I manage to get it working. W3J, Soundmax AD1986A - 11d41986, Microsoft UAA Bus Driver - 27D88086 Tried AppleHDA patch method - drag and drop AD1986A txt file into the patcher and it does its stuff automatically - Line Out and Digital Out detected - Can't move volume slider - No built-in audio detected in system profiler - Tried both audio sockets in my laptop with headphones, and laptop speakers -> No Audio Tried AppleAzaliaAudio method - removed AppleAC97Audio.kext, AppleHDA.kext and ALCinject.kext, inserted my ven+dev IDs for both HDA controller and sound card into AppleAzaliaAudio, moved it to Extensions, repaired permissions + ownership, cleared cache, rebooted - HD Audio Output detected - CAN move volume slider - No built-in audio detected in system profiler - Tried both audio sockets in my laptop with headphones, and laptop speakers -> No Audio Tried AppleAC97Audio method - removed HDA, Azalia, etc., inserted ADS78 into AppleAC97CodecAD198x.kext Info.plist, and 0x27d88086 into IOPCIPrimaryMatch key for the AppleAC97AudioIntelICH.kext Info.plist, repaired permissions + ownership, cleared cache, rebooted - Nothing detected - Can't move volume slider - No built-in audio detected in system profiler - Tried both audio sockets in my laptop with headphones, and laptop speakers -> No Audio Tried Azalia and AppleAC97Audio method combined, exactly the same result as trying Azalia by itself. There are loads of different versions of the AppleAC97Audio.kext and AppleAzaliaAudio.kext files, I've tried several but they don't seem to make a difference. I can't tell if the internal mute is on or not, but pressing Fn+F10, which activates/de-activates it, makes no difference. Same with Fn+F12 which increases the volume. To repair permissions/ownership, and clear cache, I do the following: sudo -s <enter in my password> cd /System/Library/Extensions/ chown -R root:wheel <drivername>.kext chmod -R 755 <drivername>.kext diskutil repairpermissions / cd /System/Library/ rm -rf Extensions.mkext Extensions.kextcache I also check using kextstat | grep AC97 or Azalia to see if the kext is loaded. Please help, I'm close to buying a USB sound card, which I don't want to do, since the laptop only has 3 USB ports, all of which I use (USB splitters don't work, always get the too much USB power consumption error message). Thanks!!
  4. Uphuck 1.3 Success Thread

Worked first time, though I screwed it up trying to get graphics to work. Specs in sig. 10.4.9 Intel: 10.4.9 Intel package Kernels: Intel SSE3 (26 March 2007) - edited Drivers: USB, PowerManagement.bundle, CoreDuoTemp Applications: Firefox, VLC player, QuickTime+codecs. iTunes, X11, and others Used ATIinject for graphics and NeoPheus' RTL1xxx installer for ethernet, both working well, but can't get sound working after trying various methods. Props to uphuck for this release!
  5. Thanks devilhood. Installation was quick and easy, the guide helped me. I tried using the chain0 method before, but now I know, darwin bootloader is clearly the way to go.
  6. Ok read it. Sent you a PM but your inbox was full. I'm sure some other people might have suggested it, but try these.VNC Client - http://sourceforge.net/projects/cotvnc/ VNC Server - http://www.redstonesoftware.com/products/v...eosx/index.html I've never used them before, but I've used Windows VNC Client/Servers to remote control computers before. Hope this helps!!!
  7. ATI Mobility X1600, X1700 and others

Hi, I got the Asus W3J: Intel Core Duo T2400 1.86 GHz Processor 14" WXGA (1280 x 768) LCD Panel ATI Mobility Radeon X1600 w/ 256 MB VRAM GPU (512 MB Hypermemory) 80 GB 5400 RPM P-ATA Hard Drive My EDID is: 00ffffff ffffff00 0daf0314 00000000 020d0103 801f1278 0ae0d596 56528927 22505400 00000101 01010101 01010101 01010101 0101bc1b 00a05000 37303020 360031b7 10000018 000000fe 004e3134 3041310a 20202020 20200000 00fe0043 4d4f0a20 20202020 20202020 000000fc 004e3134 3041312d 4c30310a 20200017 EDIT3: Ok, I've reinstalled Mac OS X 10.4.9 uphuck. Tried again using Sheriffbounce's kexts, except with the ATIinject.kext changed to the modified value. Changed my EDID's inside, then did the rest (ownership etc. stuff). Finally booted into mac and got the blue/black stripes screen. Rebooted with -v and got the 4 split screens. This is with the com.apple.boot file already set with the proper resolution, which I confirmed in system preferences (1280x768x32). Don't know what to do from here (I read that others had the same problem, but I couldn't see any solutions for them). Any help please? Thanks! EDIT4: Ok, I got it working! Used Sheriffbounce's kext and modified it myself rather than using the pre-modded ATIinject.kext that someone else had, and it worked perfectly. Thanks to Sheriffbounce and everyone else who made this possible!
