1. @ joot > Maybe this is a stupid question but did you try the front audio line (green) and the rear speaker line (black) ? Just asking
2. I have the same problem actually and I have not found any workaround so far. Sleep worked fine in 10.6.7 (with sleepenabler.kext) but I cannot get it to work in 10.6.8 Screen sleeps and wakes fine though so I just put "Never sleep" and unchecked "Do not allow power button to put computer into sleep" in Configuration panel/Energy till I find a working solution.

ZAMMYKOO G5 Case Mod (No cuts)

Sorry I didn't see your answer. I will edit this post once I get home
4. Hi All, Used Andyboot v5 yesterday for a fresh install of SL and 10.6.8 update. I did remove the ACPI_SMC_platformPlugin.kext in IOPlatformPluginFamily.kext but I got the KP anyway at the end of the update. Restarted once, the computer restarted again by itself during boot process and it went to the desktop where I could confirm 10.6.8 was successfully installed ! Run P8P67 PRO package, set Graphics Enabler to "Yes" and install Trim Enabler for my SSD. I did try the "competitor" #####+##### method also but I could not get the system to be stable, with or without DSDT. The only thing is sleep is not working but I can live without it. I put the sleepenabler.kext in Extra/Extensions but I got KP at startup so I removed it. And the graphic card name is not correct in system informations. Everything else runs smoothly, Geekbench 64bits scores at nearly 12.000 without overclocking, Cinebench scores at nearly 40 frames for OpenGL and 7 for CPU score. So a big THANK YOU to Andy for the boot cd which make it simple to get the system running. One more thing is that I did the updates Apple recommends which include some fixes for 10.6.8 system. it worked but I did have sound anymore after that. Just re-run PRO package and sound came back ____________________________________ Here is my build : i7 2600K @3.4GHz (no overclock) 16Go Corsair Vengeance DDR3 @1600MHz MSI R6870 Twin Frozr 1Go DDR5 128Go SSD Crucial M4 (+ 2To Caviar Black on its way) Sony Optiarc DVD drive PSU Corsair 750TX

ZAMMYKOO G5 Case Mod (No cuts)

Hi, After 1 month (well I could work on it only week-ends though), my G5 mod is 99% done ! I made my own cable : LED, Power button, USB and Firewire are working well. I don't know why the audio isn't working but it's not really a big deal for now. I didn't want to cut the back of the case but I also wanted to be able to use all the ports on the back so I cut it anyway. Still thinking how I'm gonna customize the rear I/O panel (the 1% to end the mod ) I replaced the rear fans and fixed two 12cm on the front. Using Andyboot 5, I installed 10.6.8 from scratch (did get a KP at the end even I removed the plugin, restart and everything works smooth). Overall, I'm pretty happy about the result. Just wanted to let you know and if you have any idea why the front i/o audio is not working PS : will post one or two pictures later.

ZAMMYKOO G5 Case Mod (No cuts)

Hi, I'm gonna start the rear i/o panel this week-end, the dremel and the diamond shaft came. Is it possible to use the ethernet port by soldering the existing pins ? By the way, I made my own front i/o cable ... and it works ! (well at least LED, power button and USB, I have not tried audio and firewire yet ). The tact switch on the dvd drive was just a piece of cake and it works like a charm also.

G5 to ATX Front I/O Cables

Hi everyone, I'm making my own cable and I was wondering something about the firewire part. On the diagram, there is 2 Firewire +12V ports on the molex but on the Mac cable, only one 25V port. >Does this mean I have to split the cable ? Thanks in advance for your answer. EDIT 2011/07/01 : I got my answer from someone else

ZAMMYKOO G5 Case Mod (No cuts)

Hi, I'm gonna start the project this week-end ! Mobo came already, I'll get the other parts this friday. First step : make the front i/o cable. Shouldn't be too hard I'll keep you posted when I'll start to work on the rear i/o ports.

Thanks for the info. Just don't sure that getting an angle grinder just for this mod is the best choice for me. Anyway, I'll make sure to get the right tools before hand.

Nope I watch some video mods over the internet and the guys cut aluminium, plastic, ... almost anything with it. So I guess it's possible with the right shaft.

ZAMMYKOO G5 Case Mod (No cuts)

I know how to build basic pc in normal pc case. I've been reading and searching informations about the front and rear i/o panels for weeks now and as I don't want to cut the G5 case, your mod is one of the best I've seen till now. I could buy pre-made cable and rear i/o panel but it would not be a challenge anymore as it is the most difficult part, isn't it ? Now that you said you could help, I feel more comfortable to start this mod. Do you think a dremel tool would do the cut job as nice as an angle grinder ? My biggest concern actually is about the ethernet port ^^.

Thanks a lot ^^. I'm looking forward to make my own no-cut G5 mod. Like the challenge ! Do you think that making a front i/o panel to ATX cable and the rear i/o panel soldering part are hard tasks for "common" people ? I mean, I'm good at following tutorial and I have the basic understanding about soldering and wiring but it will be my first time doing something like this.

Hello everyone, I'm planning of doing the same "no-cut G5 mod" soon. zammykoo, would you mind to help me a bit if I ask you few things about the front i/o wiring and the rear i/o wiring when I'll start my mod ? The project has not started yet though.
