  1. Asus 1201N Installation and support

check your USB stick. 1201 is a little tricky in terms of booting from USB. I've have many tries until I got pass "Still waiting for root device". If you're having problems with root device, restart the pc and change your USB stick to another port and try again. If does not work after a few tries, built another bootable usb stick A good way to check if usb stick is booting good, is to have an eye on led activity and try to identify if USB is reading correctly or not. Regarding to black screen. are you using PCIRootUID=0 ?I've had that on first boot with usb.

Remove AppleHDA and IOAudioFamily from /Extra/Extensions if they're there. Install them into /System/Library/Extensions and rebuild kexts caches.

Is your trackpad working? You can try to remove ApplePS2... kexts and install VoodooPS2Controller Installing AppleHDA and IOAudioFamily into SLE will bring your sound back.

This is how I installed ML on 1201n 1. Prepare USB stick with 10.8 genuine copy from MAS 2. Install chameleon pkg from my folder into your USB stick. 3. Erase (if any) /Extra folder from your USB and copy this one. 4. Install... Reboot. 5. Boot from usb and select the partition where you installed ML 6. Install chameleon pkg on your ML partition. 7. Erase (if any) /Extra folder from your ML partition 8. Copy mine. 9. Run Kext Utility 10. You can now reboot or install OSX update combo. I don't know if everything works (facetime, icloud... and), because I don't use them. DSDT provided was modded by me to work with ACPI Backlight Driver provided by HotKoffy http://www.insanelym...cklight-driver/ My Extra package: http://d-h.st/6hT (FORGOT TO MENTION THIS DSDT IS FOR 2GB BUILDS) Sorry I've forgot to include chameleon pkg into zip. I've attached it to this post Chameleon-2.2svn-r2187.pkg.zip

theconnatic are you using vanilla kernel with kernel patcher module on 10.8.3?
  6. Asus 1201N Installation and support

Thank you for your answer! Well I guess I'll try to find some spare time to backup my data and install mountain lion without installing Lion first... If I succeed I'll drop here some kind of guide I've tried earlier but I was in a rush and building USB installer with *uni* wasn't enough. Time to create a backup partition and use Carbon Copy. If it goes wrong, I still have SL working I guess Thank you again! EDIT1: Got it properly installed and booting only in safe mode. AppleCPUPowerManagement is causing KP. I'll see this later. Btw, the installation and first boot was pretty straight forward.

Hi folks. My 1201n is running 10.6.8 fast and stable with Atom running at 2Ghz and 2Gig of memory. Everything works, even ACPI brightness slider works without resetting bios. I don't really feel the need to install ML, but MAS has so many apps that aren't anymore compatible with SL... I'm falling behind then! I spent so many hours trying to setup my triple boot with hybrid partition table that I'm afraid of trying to upgrade and mess all the work I've done, and end with a slower OS with some bugs that I'm not experiencing now with SL. My question is: Is it worth upgrading to get the most recent apps? Will I get more issues than on SL? ML is that much slower that SL? I've read this thread using search tool, but I didn't conclude anything about it :b Thanks in Advance, Loureiro

Are you using System Update or .dmg file? replace the vanilla mach_kernel, with the exact name. do the update. hope it works
  10. Asus 1201N Installation and support

Yep I reverted back to 10.6.8 It's faster and everything I use is working properly.
  11. Asus 1201N Installation and support

I gave up of lion. I'll wait till Lion becomes more stable.
  12. Asus 1201N Installation and support

For everyone with this problem, just leave mach_kernel and do the update. after update you can rename de vanilla kernel. cheers
