  1. Okay so first I'll start with I have installed OSX on my computer in the past. It did work fine, but when now trying to do the exact same method, it fails for some reason. My motherboard and CPU both work when using the right kernels and other people have had very successful installs with them. The ASRock Extreme4 970 motherboard and the AMD FX-8350 CPU. However my installation hangs after loading some USB kexts and then the disc drive just powers off and I can't use it any more. But this worked perfectly in the past and I'm doing it exactly the same way. I use ModCD and I use the rd(0,0)/Extra/modbin_kernel -force64 -v to boot as it worked fine in the past, use my SL retail disc and it took me to the normal OSX install screen in the past. However now I have no such luck. Any suggestions? Or anyone with that hardware who has had luck care to suggest what you did?

    Notebook for Snow Leopard

I have Snow Leopard retail that I bought from when I tried setting up on my PC but with failure so I want to get a hackintosh laptop but before I buy one, what one is best for Snow Leopard? I don't mean which one is most compatible, I don't mind some tricky work to get things set up. I mean which one works and performs the best. I was thinking of using it for college.

    AMD FX-8350 and hardware help.

Unfortunately I was.. but the trial ran out and I can't afford to buy it. But even transmac couldnt show the kernel file on the modcd disc or iso.
  5. So here's the PC I'm wanting to install it on. CPU: AMD FX-8350 @ 4.2Ghz MOBO: ASRock 970 Extreme4 RAM: Kingston Beast 16GB @ 2133 Mhz (or something close) Graphics: EVGA GTX 660 Superclocked 500GB SATA drive for OSX, Windows is installed on a 240GB SSD and I have a 1TB for data. So heres my first question, the CPU is supported as I've found working kernels, the graphics card is too, the installer boots fine when using Nawcoms bootcd and installs fine with no errors, however, I CANNOT boot using the installed bootloader and it kernel panics every time even when using the same flags as the installer and the kernel for AMD. But it DOES boot the installer with the modbin kernel from nawcom, so would it be possible to extract the modbin kernel from the disc and use that for my default? Also how do I view what's on the disc OUTSIDE of OSX since I haven't been able to get OSX to boot and even if i extract it when booting from the modcd will I be able to overwrite the existing kernel? I need help because graphics don't enable when booting with the modcd and it's really getting me unhappy.. Might have to move back to Linux.

    Need help with booting

So I got my new disc today that I ordered from apple because my laptop does not like USB booting that much. But I get stuck at ACPI: System State [s0 S3 S4 S5] (S3) and I heard I need a kext somewhere.. But how do I put a kext onto a retail dvd... What do I do?
  7. I've owned Retail Snow Leopard for years now, that's what I'm trying to install, I did download distro's of Lion and Mountain Lion to see if I had any luck with them. But I'm using my retail SL because I just prefer SL to Lion+ Better AMD support.
  8. I have an AMD build, 8350 CPU with ASRock 970 Extreme4 Mobo, with 16GB RAM, I set up a OSX 32bit machine on Virtualbox, gave it 2 cores, 4GB of RAM and then loaded the following. 10.6.3 disc Bootloader works Black screen after and no activity 10.7 Bootloader Black screen after with no activity 10.5 Bootloader works starts loading OSX gets stuck at BSD line 10.8 Nothing and just says it cant find bootable medium. Has anyone had luck with these modern AMD systems in Virtualbox?
  9. Ive searched the forums as much as I can, non of which were relevant or didn't help my problem. Also tried searching google to no end. I've tried so many things, even kernels and drivers that say they work with my exact CPU. It must be a problem with the chipset but seeing as the 900 chipsets are modern and almost every AMD motherboard uses them now I'm sure others have had luck with them.
  10. ASRock 970 Extreme4 using the AMD 970 chipset.
  11. I installed from iatkos S3 as it was the only thing that worked for me, Retail didn't wanna run. The installer worked perfectly and I didn't have to use flags, I installed trying both the default kernel and qoopz 10.3, I used the nvenabler and the EFI string as well as the AHCI drivers. I also tried downloading a new kernel that's said to work with my cpu, the AMD 8350 but then I just get a kernel panic at the start of the boot when it launches darwin x86. It's starting to get me down, I have no idea what to do, I tried various kernels none worked.

[AMD] 10.7.3 Guide - Experimental Only

Is it possible to do this without existing Snow Leopard? I can't even get that to work. The iatkos S3 disc runs flawlessly, no flags required then I can install it. But when I try to boot from the HDD it just either hangs without booting so it's a black screen. Or it reboots the computer.

Will the Kernel for 10.8 for Bulldozer work with Piledriver as well? I have an 8350.
