  1. Try booting with c1ramp=0 (or c1ramping=0 .. I can't remember). Both flags didn't help. Even c1rampage=0.. Actually most reboots with RC regardless of flags I see kernel_task endlessly loading CPU 20%. Now I'm on beta1, that behaves ok.
  2. Hi, my Turion processor becomes hot as if it was under heavy load. Fan works loud all the time. Still Activity Monitor shows CPU's idle about 95% of time. This issue appeared with beta2 of the kernel and remains with RC.
  3. Radeon Xpress 200M

    ахаха лол
  4. Radeon Xpress 200M

Something is wrong with that IOPCIFamily, I think. See screenshot. The system behaves exactly as I described in my previous post.

kernel panic... much better! on the first boot every change on the screen took 10 seconds. like when you type (rather fast) in terminal "sudo -s <return>", the output remains "$" and waits for 10 seconds, then changes to "$sud", then waits for another 10 seconds, then changes to "$sudo -s" and after yet another 10 seconds actually asks for password. after reboot everything appears to work smoothly as if there's no atiradeon9700.kext at all, but system profiler reports "core image: NOT supported", "quartz extreme: supported" and detects vram size correctly (128 mbytes) and i've noticed some glitches when scrolling a document in textedit. it's symptoms ole2 noticed in early january, but me — for the first time. you may check dmesg and ioreg (notice ati1slice working) __1040___1088___1093___1080___1074_.zip

  7. Radeon Xpress 200M

Maybe it's because 200m is not an AGP card. According to http://www.ati.com/products/radeonxpress200m/index.html we have PCIe chipset.

Here is my tracing for 200m on 10.4.6. Actually, with ATI1Slice.kext (from post #184 of this thread) sitting in Extensions. Don't know whether I should remove it beforehand. __1040___1088___1093___1080___1074_.zip

there are some changes in I/O Registry after changing ATIPCIFamily.kext to Chun-Nan's one. i don't understand any of them though. just noticed that version of the original kext in my installation was 1.8, not 2.2 as in Chun-Nan's. anyway i listed all the changes below: 1)in the IOPCI2PCIBridge nub a new property shows up – "IOPCIConfigured" = Yes 2)display driver has property "IOPCIResourced" = Yes 3)"AAPL,iokit-ndrv" property of display driver changed from "`Mo7" to 0x605d8838 4)property "reg" of the same driver expanded from 00280100 to 00280100000000000000000000000000000000001028014200... there are also changes in I/O Registry when ATI1Slice.kext is loaded in addition to Chun-Nan's ATIPCIFamily. again, here's the list: 1)new properties of display driver: "AAPL,gart-width" = <" "> "fboffset" = <00000200> "VRAM,memsize" = <00000008> "AAPL,gray-page" = <01000000> "GARTCacheSize" = <01000000> "device_type" = <"display"> "model" = <"ATI Radeon XPRESS 200M (RS400) (PCIE)"> "F8,size" = <00003000> (obviously all this additions are provided by ATI1Slice) 2)display driver's "AAPL,iokit-ndrv" changed to 0x607dd22f 3)ATI1Slice object appears 4)"IOFBMemorySize" of IONDRVFramebuffer becomes 0x8000000 (was 0x10000000) maybe i missed some details so i attach here excerpts from ioreg outputs. __1040___1088___1093___1080___1074_.zip

    I've tried the following combination: 1. OS X 10.4.6 JaS 2. Latest Chun-Nan's IOPCIFamily.kext 3. ATIRadeon9700.kext from post #181 4. ATI1Slice.kext ver.1.06 5. ATISlice.kext ver.1.05 ... and got kernel panic. What's wrong? Here are screenshots.

i've just tried to increase F8,size value to 0x01000000 for both 32 and 64 bits and got interesting results. when setting gart width to 32, system simply freezes at gray apple logo phase. and when i assigned 64 to the variable, system showed me the same gray logo but with movable mouse pointer that changed its appearance from arrow to spinning rainbow wheel to spinning monochrome wheel (of my applescript sitting inside startup items) to arrow. ioreg and dmesg outputs for both cases attached. __1040___1088___1093___1080___1074_.zip

it hangs both ways. but in case of 32 it shows mouse pointer that i can move around. but mouse pointer has no shadow that i expect too see in accelerated mode. menu bar is unresponsive, dock is broken, no icons on desktop. that's it. in 64 case, system just hangs... or keeps loading but way slowly. mouse pointer shows up then disappears. after couple minutes apple logo with progress bar shows up, then mouse pointer appears again, and so on. i can't get any response from pointer though.

__1040___1088___1093___1080___1074_.ziphi there! i've tried ATISlice105 on tiger 10.4.6 JaS with gart-width set to 32 and CallistoHAL.kext removed. the result is when setting gart-width to 64, system seems to hang up with unresponsive mouse pointer on blue screen. also tried combo ATISlice+10.4.6 video kexts & frameworks+no callisto on leopard 10.5.1 and got only kernel panic. anyway here are ioreg and dmesg from 10.4.6 with gart-width=32
  14. Marvin's AMD Utility

What are the possible reasons for Utility to hang my machine when it finds any encrypted binary? I feel panic.
  15. its time for my story of success: i several times reinstalled different releases of macos to 2nd partition with same effect - Error loading operating system. to fix it i installed acronis os selector and then deactivated it since i actually dont need it as daily routine. it seems that acronis, apart from deactivating itself, also fixed MBR..
