  1. I'm using an onboard Realtek 8111C (mobo is Gigabyte EP45-UD3LR), and I ran across the problem a lot of people have : the internet was dropping after 5-10 minutes. Funny thing was that allready established connections were still working even after all other sites were unresponsive. I tried using an USB wireless LAN adapter (EDIMAX 7718Un with Ralink chipset - I used ralink drivers) and it worked, but still the same problem showed up after 5-10 minutes, sites I was allready connected to were working, but establishing a new connection was impossible. From that I concluded the problem must be in the OS, not the driver or the hardware (like I initially thought). After searching the internet I found the problem could be related to how Snow Leopard manages DNS - and it was indeed this, because when the net was working doing a traceroute was showing DNS names, but when the net dropped, doing a traceroute command only showed some IP addresses. Solution : From System Preferences -> Network I switched the Configure IPV4 to Manually so I could leave ONLY one of the 3 DNS Server addresses shown before, when using Automatic DHCP. It's been working like a charm since then. Hope this helps, and good luck. PS : I hope this gets fixed in a future update of SL.
  2. Network Solution for Leopard

Can anyone tell me if the Trendnet USB to Ethernet adapter works on Snow Leopard ? Or if the Apple USB to Ethernet adapter works on Windows Vista ?
  3. Realtek 8168/8111 solution

Could you please explain what the solution is again, I'm having trouble understanding what you mean. Thanks in advance !
  4. force chameleon to boot in 32bit?

Is boot-uuid=~~ necessary in order to boot in 32 bit mode ?
  5. problem installing maya, please try this tool

I tried to use the ethernet built in and it didn't work. I think it's because I installed RC2 over RC1+PCEfi (i'm running snow leopard). However the problem was solved with the efi strings - using osx86tools, I created an ethernet efi string, and combined the string with my graphics string, and now maya works !
  6. I managed to install Snow Leopard with PC EFI v10.1, and now I need chameleon RC2. But I can't find any guide that explains what to do. Could someone tell me what the special steps are or point me to a guide that explains it ?
  7. I'm using Snow Leo with the PC EFI V10.1 ( which includes chameleon RC1), and I tried to remove chameleon by deleting the .Chameleon folder, and then installed Chameleon RC2. It didn't work so now my Snow Leo gives an error and doesn't boot. Can someone please tell me the correct way of uninstalling Chameleon RC2 so I can revert back to PC EFI V10.1, OR how to remove PC EFI V10.1 so I can properly install Chameleon RC2. Thanks in advance !
  8. SMBIOS EFI/Resolver for snow[SOLVED]

has anyone tried chameleon RC2 with snow leopard ?
  9. It does work out of the box, but only for about 15 minutes, then it dies.
  10. problem installing maya, please try this tool

wow thanks, going to try the EthernetBuiltIn=Yes fix tonight !!
  11. It works after a reboot, for about 15 minutes, but then it stops working. I've tried to use the Realtek RTL8111/8168B kext from here - http://www.kexts.com/cat/7-network.html (although I have a 8169) but they don't work at all. Thanks in advance for suggestions !
  12. Ok so is ANYONE able to shutdown 100% of the time properly ? if so, tell me how you did it because I have literally tried everything I could think of... patched kernels, different AppleSMBIOS.kexts , ACPIPowermanagement.kexts....
  13. I installed 10.5.2 and all the updates and shutdown is still not working. Also tried the new AppleSMBIOS.kext and the new 9.2.0 sleep kernel from netkas and nothing. Asked netkas on irc about it and he didn't respond. Looks like I'm going to have to switch motherboards.
  14. Man can you please tell me what you did to make this adapter work with the iphone, step by step, I am seriously thinking of throwing it out the window after spending a whole day trying to make it work and not actually doing anything.. many thanks. I just plugged it in and installed the drivers, I don't know what to do from there...
  15. Hello, I just bought an usb wi-fi adapter from EDIMAX, the EW-7718. It has drivers for mac os, as it uses a Ralink chipset. The problem is I have no idea how to configure it as a wireless access point. I didn't manage to do it in vista either. My goal is to connect my jailbroken iphone to my pc, so I can transfer files first of all, and second to be able to use my ethernet connection by connecting to the access point. I installed the drivers and now I am clueless. Many thanks for any suggestions !
