1. I have a system with 2 Hard drives : 1)500GB, partitioned entirely hfs+ with OS X Lion installed on it 2)1000GB, with the following partitions: a)50 GB ext4 b)100 GB ext4 c)4GB Swap area. I have installed Fedora 15 ( KDE Spin ) on the second HDD, with / mounted to the 50GB partition and /home to the 100GB. I installed it while HDD 1 was disconnected, as it contains important information and I don't have an additional HDD to use for backup. I installed Fedora's bootloader to the beginning of the first patition, not the the MBR. When I boot with both HDDs connected, Chameleon boots, and it does both the os x and fedora. os x boots fine, but if I try to boot into Fedora, all I get is a flashing ' _ ' key. If I boot with only the second HDD connected, Fedora boots just fine. I will mention that I previously installed snow leopard & debian with the same method ( only on 1 hdd ) and it worked just fine. Help will be appreciated on fixing this situation. Tnx in advance, Niv
2. I have the very same problem only I used an original retail version. My bootloader is Chameleon, ofc... Anybody- help?
3. Hello- I've installed windows on my pc, which has Hackintosh on it. Before the installation everything worked great, but now after installing windows in a free space, chameleon is gone and the computer automatically boots into windows. I can boot to the mac with #####, But I'd like a permanent solution. Anybody knows how to fix this? Thanks, Niv.
4. Now I know- you can say that again =.= I have only one monitor connected, although It's possible that I took this photo when both VGA and DVI are connected ( although right now only VGA is connected but same problem ). I didn't try to re-run the 10.6.7 since I used the software update, and not the Combo Update. I will download it and see what happens.
5. What I've done is got the hex and then inserted it to the com.apple.whatever under "device-properties". It's still there. I had GraphicsEnabler=No... Anyways, Like I mentioned, I still get right info from profiler on my GPU, but it won't recognize my screen anymore, before that he did. I can run chess but I don't think I get the cool ripples opening dashboard. Here's my Display part on Profiler: NVIDIA GeForce 430GT: Chipset Model: NVIDIA GeForce 430GT Type: GPU Bus: PCIe PCIe Lane Width: x16 VRAM (Total): 1024 MB Vendor: NVIDIA (0x10de) Device ID: 0x0de1 Revision ID: 0x00a1 ROM Revision: v1.0 Displays: Display: Resolution: 1280 x 1024 Pixel Depth: 32-Bit Color (ARGB8888) Main Display: Yes Mirror: Off Online: Yes Display Connector: 1280x1024 Is the only resolution it allows me, although my sceren is optimized to 1920x1080 ( 16:9 ). By the way, when using VGA it is full-screened but still wrong resolution ( like I had before using the nvcap, weird, it's still there ).
6. So the previous comment solved both of my problems, but now after updating to 10.6.7 ( I'm stupid, I know ) I got a similar problem... The view is not full screen- and the resolution is all wrong. I'm pretty sure QE-CI is not working aswell... Pictures to demonstrate the problem: ( And in a zoom to the border ): Anyone knows how to solve this/Undo the 10.6.7 Update? Besides the graphics all works ( internet, sound, etc ). I'm using a DVI connector, and the system fails to recognize my screen. Edit: It won't work with VGA aswell, But I noticed the System Profiler DOES recognize my GPU as before, so I'm guessing the problem is with the screen detection( BenQ T2200HD ). Thanks, Niv.
7. Hello- I have 2 OS's on my PC : Mac 10.6.6 and Debian. When Chameleon is booting, It shows only the mac. I have to stop the auto-boot inorder to show the Debian aswell. Is there any way to make it show both OS's without having to stop the Autoboot? Another question: I set the Time to wait in the autoboot for 5 seconds inorder I could choose the Debian if I'd like to. but there's an annoying problem- theres no way to boot right away to the mac- any key I press ( even Enter ) will stop the timewait, so I have to wait atleast 5 seconds, or press Enter twice ( or any key, and then Enter ). Is there any way to make Enter boot right away? Thanks, Niv.
8. Cool, works easy indeed. You guys by any chance know how to make chameleon show the linux on the boot list automaticly? because now it only shows linux when pressing a key ( stopping the automatic boot to os x )
9. Are you sure? Won't installing grub on the debian partition be risky? Can you expand/link a detailed guide? I'm not that big of a pro and kinda scared to screw everything, took a while to make it work.
10. Hello. I have a pc with 10.6.6 ( only that ), and i left about 250Gb free space to install a linux distro, Debian. I was wondering- How could I install it alongside the Hackintosh? Is there a way to avoid installing grub and use the chameleon as a bootloader? Thanks, Niv.
11. Hello. After fixing my sound ( and, my I mention again, you guys rock :] ) I turned to another problem I'm having: I'm using Gainward 1Gb DDR 3 GT 430 GPU. All graphics work smoothly, resolution is good, all responding fast, but I have two problems: 1)I have a wrong memory read. when I got to about this mac It says that I have 512Mb instead of 1024. I'll mention that it recognizes that the card is GT 430. 2)Not all full window games work - for example, Halo 1 or Call of Duty 2, that are weak games for this card, won't run - I get a black screen although I know It's working - There's sound and it's responding to mouse movement, probably over buttons. All I've done to support my GPU is use GraphicsEnabler=YES and the tonymacx86's nvidia update. I'm using the VGA connection, although I can switch to the DVI if it'll bring better results. I've heard something about nvcap, all I know is that it's an EFI-string, I don't really know how to get it's value or how to set it up. I'd be glad if you could help me with these 2 problems. Thanks, Niv. Edit: I'll add that Im using a Benq T2200HD Screen with 1920x1080 resolution
12. Ok. So, Gigabyte's website says about my motherboard that it either has 888 or 892. So after running and trying and w/e, after getting the HDEF-patcher I've tried to patch it to 888, because my system said that's what I have. Apperently, It was wrong, after patching with 892 sound works with the ALC8xx + Rollback method. *Beginning of emotional scene* I must mention that I've never seen a community that tries so hard to help to a new user You guys rock, I'm gonna definitely stick around here *End of emotional scene* Niv.
13. So here's what I've done: 1)Removed the VoodooHDA.kext 2)Patched the DSDT using the patcher provided in email ( thanks :] ) 3)Restarted to check DSDT loads up ok 4)Installed System Utilities, ALC8xxHDA + AppleHDA Rollback And it's still not working... same problem as before ( no output recognized ).
14. I actually did notice that part and thought it's probably related ( Gigabyte have sometimes more than 1 audio codec for motherboard types, like mine, it can come either with 888 or 892 so you have to check), But for some reason I don't have permission to download that file... I think it might be blocked for new users for some reason... anyway for a link from Megaupload/Rapidshare/etc? Niv.
15. I know, but I have a patched dsdt ( using auto-patcher ) so I should need to use it. and even if I do - i tried installing the ALC8xxHDA + AppleHDA Rollback with both HDAEnabler888 and HDAEnabler 888b ( after deleting the prevision enabler ). Both didn't work.
