  1. Hi! I have this problem when I connect to a server share. (cmd-k) It always open the window without a sidebar and always in icon view. It does not seem to remember my previous setting (Column View with Sidebar) Anyone else have this problem?

    How do I troubleshoot?

The above did not fix my problem. I have tried both 32 and 64 bit mode. I'm running out of ideas on my applications stop responding. The strange part is that i can for example use Logic for sevral hours with no problems but when i after that tries to say change desktop picture a couple of times the applications just stop responding. Anyone got any ideas?

    How do I troubleshoot?

This did not work better. But I added my graphics and network card with EFI Studio. And this seem to have done the trick. Have not had an application "Not Responding" sins. Anyone know how this could make it better?

    How do I troubleshoot?

That sounds exactly like my problem. I disabled the Computer Sleep, Display Sleep and Hard disk sleep. Are there any more Power Saving to turn off? I'll report back if it works better. Cheers!
  5. Hi! I have installed Snow Leopard 10.6 with all my devices working (network, video & sound). My problem is that i get random "Not Responding" on applications. If an application stops responding, everything i launch after that also get the "not responding" message. Sometimes I can work with my computer all day without problems, and sometimes I get it after 5 min. My queastion is now, how do I troubleshoot this? I have looked through The logfiles in Console but found nothing of interest. Is there some other logs someware that i should look through? All suggestions are welcome.

    Dell XPS 410 Resource Extravaganza

Hi! I have succesully installed Snow Leopard on my Dell Dimension 9200 using the files supplied in this thread. (not the ISO) I got all my devices running (network, graphics, sound, ata and so on..) But i get random application freezes (Not Responding). Its different applications all the time... sometimes its system preferences and other times its an application like VLC. Anyone got any suggestions? Thanks.
  7. Ok. I got it installed on my HDD by disconnecting the SATA drive, used a SATA to USB cable and installed OSX. I also installed Chameleon RC3 I reconnected the HDD to the computer and boot into Chameleon and select my OSX partition. So now i got the "Waiting for root device". I found out that i have a ICH8-R Controller. and that the ID is 28208086. The bios is set to Auto/Raid (Dells AHCI setting) I edited this key in AppleAHCIPort.kext <key>ICH8RAHCI</key> <dict> <key>CFBundleIdentifier</key> <string>com.apple.driver.AppleAHCIPort</string> <key>Chipset Name</key> <string>ICH8-R AHCI</string> <key>IOClass</key> <string>AppleAHCI</string> <key>IOPCIPrimaryMatch</key> <string>0x28218086 0x28208086</string> <key>IOProbeScore</key> <integer>2000</integer> <key>IOProviderClass</key> <string>IOPCIDevice</string> <key>Vendor Name</key> <string>Intel</string> </dict> Now AppleAHCIPort crashes on bootup. Anyone got any ideas what to try next?
  8. I used the AppleAHCIPort.kext from Chameleon but it still does not show any drives in disk util.
  9. I am trying to put together the Snow Leopard installation DVD on my USB HDD. I used my macbook to restore the ISO to the Harddrive. I installed Chameleon 2 RC3 I have these kext files in the /Extras folder Disabler fakesmc AppleIntelPIIXATA When i boot it on my Desktop Dell Dimension 9200 it boots up the installation but no drives appear to install it on. And Disk Util only shows the USB HDD i booted the installation from. Missing a kext for my SATA controller? I think my chipset is a ICH9 and version i use of the AppleIntelPIIXATA should be ICHx compatible. Thanks for any help.
  10. I think i solved it. When I use the boot flag "platform=X86PC" it seem to work. Do I miss some functionality not using the default platform that i guess is platform=ACPI? Are there any disadvantages?
  11. Hi! I have a strange problem. I install ideneb 1.4 10.5.6. All is good. I reboot, eject the DVD, boot mac os from the harddrive, create a user and macos starts just fine. But when i restart (warm or coldboot) I get the "still waiting for root device". So mac os only boots from the harddrive once. I have tried the -v, -f and -x flags with no success. This is my settup: Dell dimension 9200 2,4ghz core 2 duo 2gb memory bios setting Autodetect Raid/ATA (the other option to choose is Raid) This is my ideneb settings: acpi kext 10.5.6 ichx acpi smc fix nvdarwin 512 Anyone got any ideas? How come it only works once?
