  1. Acer 6930 or 6930g owner. In order to get the built-in wired port to work with this driver provided here, you also need to replace the IOPCIFamily kext from this site: http://www.osx86.net/view/2110-iopcifamilly_for_acer_6930g!!!.html In my case: Snow Leopard 10.6.8 Acer Aspire 6930 Atl1ekext_x64_20100430.zip ==> Attansic/Atheros L1E Ethernet kext for Snow Leopard Above mentioned IOPCIFamily kext. With this combination my Built-in LAN port is working. The IOPCIFamily kext also solved another problem. Often when loading Snow Leopard the laptop would hang. I guess with the modded kext the PCI bridges are initialised properly now. Good luck to you Acer owner's
  2. @sgreszcz The ASUS MIO 888 sound card is based on the Realtek ALC892 You may want to try this kext http://www.osx86.net...&id=3336&page=1 An easy way to deal/install kexts is with (####) found here #### As always backup your original kext before installing modded ones.
  3. Here is a guide on how to install Mountain Lion on vSpere 5.0. http://cloudjockey.me/2012/09/10/running-mountain-lion-on-vsphere/
  4. @ Donk - your install.sh unlock v1.11 is not working no more. I get error: /vmfs/volumes/507649ef-e167b49a-f47b-001b21d2a3ab/unlock-all-v111/esxi # ./install.sh -sh: ./install.sh: not found Jeff Risdon has a different error. Could you please fix it. @ Jeff Risdon - Just use the version 1.10 instead. V1.11 is only a shell script update and does not affect the actual patching.
  5. @ Jeff Risdon - you have to make files executable in that esxi directory. chmod +x *
  6. @ Jeff Risdon Here is a link that should get you going to update the ESXi host. The description is for use with vMA. I used esxcli instead. http://communities.v...e-esxcli-how-to Here you can find the windows esxcli: https://my.vmware.com/group/vmware/details?downloadGroup=VSP510-VCLI-510&productId=285
  7. My experience: ESXi 5.1 on Gigabyte Z68MA-D2H-B3 current EFI Firmware. 32GB RAM, 2TB HDD. Boot ESXi of USB stick. working: Passthrough Onboard Realtek ALC889 sound chip. Windows 7: 1) Sound working (headphone plugged into rear green 3.5mm jack) displayed through console. 2) Sound working (speaker attached to Windows 7 workstation) displayed through Remote Desktop Connection. Note: 2) also works if 1) no passthrough is done in the VM. Setup for Windows was painless and it seems to work quite well. Mac OS X Mountain Lion 10.8.2: Mountain Lion does not see any device. Read a lot here: ##### ##### Downladed (MultiBeast5.2.1) and (Kex_Beast). Made a copy of AppleHDA kext. Installed Alc889 driver using (MultiBeast5.2.1). Then extracted the AppleHDA and HDAEnabler kext from S/L/E folder onto desktop. Used (Kext_Beast) to install them again, just to be safe that permissions are done correctly. Now Mountain Lion does recognise the onboard alc889 sound chip as Built-in device and HD audio from the HD4000 graphics inbuilt i2600 CPU. It does produce sound coming out from the rear green jack, plugged into ESXi host, but the volume is faint and a lot of crackling noise. Effectively not usable. Was unable to find a solution to make it sound better. Installed the iRAPP server, but was not able to get any sound out of it when connected with the iRAPP Windows client. No solution found at all. Just wanted to share my experience with you. Update: Tried (CoRD_0.5.7), free opensource RDC client for Mac. Can connect to iRAPP server installed on Mountain Lion, but no sound. Connect with Windows 7 RDC to iRAPP server and finally got sound good sound.
  8. MSoK thank you very much. Found it, downloaded and updated through appropriate esxcli command. Cheers,
  9. Thank you sgreszcz for your explanation. You have invested a lot of time, not to mention money, into this sound nightmare. Please report back again. @ sebus -- yes one could indeed build as suggested. In this thread it is all about vitualisation. Thanks anyway. Cheers
  10. @ Dong - I can't find ESXi 5.1.0 build 914609 on the vmware site to download. VMVisor build 799733 is listed as latest.
  11. @ sgreszcz First thanks for the detailed post and of course your research to get things to work. I could not find any hint as to how you got sound to work? Would you care to reveal your secret on that? Regards, WXE911
  12. After many trial and error to get SL Server installed on ESXi 5.0 U1 623860 and reading a lot of posts. Yes, I have unlock 1.02 installed and rebooted. Also I tried to boot from different OSX version like SL 10.6, Lion 10.7.2 It always hang on the gray graphics screen with the beach ball. On my ESXi PC I had a LITE-ON iHAS124-06Y DVD-RW attached. I then finally replaced with a Pioneer DVR-219BLK and in no time the OSX installer presented itself. Cheers, WXE911 Update: - Dowloaded and installed ComboUpdate 10.6.8 v1.1 - Installed VMware tools via vsphere client option. - Installed Firefox and update flash player. It won't play youtube and other flash stuff though. - Maybe someone have a tip for me to get that to work. Boot time: From launch of the server to the login prompt takes about 50 seconds. After login the desktop is there within 10 seconds or so. That is reasonable for me. Within virtual machine response is good.
