  1. How do I make backup of the MacBook Pro install DVDs? Should I make a backup with Disk Utility or any program that creates ISO images?
  2. This list is so incomplete.
  3. I am trying to install MacOSX on an Intel Pentium 4 HT 3.2GHz 1MB, 2x 256MB Dual Channel, 915 PCIe Video and chipset plus some other stuff, however as soon as i boot from the DVD something strange happens. After I press enter the background changes into grey background color and I see the apple logo. Another couple of seconds later the screen turns BLACK and on the top of the screen I have an inch of weird color going from the left to the right (some bar, video issues?). The bar is a mixture of yellow&green. I tried turning off HT and some other settings, however nothing worked =( hmmm... scratch that. After I made myself a drink and returned to my new machine the Install screen was waiting for input.
  4. So I have been trying to get my nVidia 5200 working the right way, but so far that didn't work out. I installed the http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?showtopic=36435 and restarted the machine, but the only thing that worked was 'changing the resolution' and it finally tells me what GFX I got, however still no QE/CI and no AGP. The next guide I followed was the http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?showtopic=37231 guide, but my first issue was that it is not a NV4 card, but a NC3 Card. I d/l the latest AGPGart file, but after the first restart it still said it is a PCI bus. I found AGPGart.Universal.Beta2.zip somewhere and that fixed it. So far the AGP detection works, identifies the gfx and I am able to change the resolution, but still no QE/CI support! any help?

Nvidia QE + CI The Definitive Guide

It fixes the display issue on my computer, but it still no QE + CI support.
  6. http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?showtopic=36480 - this helped me a lot, however I can either have AGP or CI/QE!
  7. I d/l the 10.4.7 JaS DVD and I was able to install it on this Pentium 4. From the net I d/l the 10.4.8 JaS SSE2 pkg and installed it (260MB). The system came back after the reboot and then I tried to install the new 8.8.1 kernel, but after the reboot nothing ever happened. This is what I did sudo cp -R mach_kernel/mach_kernel /mach_kernel sudo cp -R mach_kernel/AppleIntelIntegratedFramebuffer.kext /System/Library/Extensions sudo cp -R mach_kernel/AppleSMBios.kext /System/Library/Extensions sudo cp -R mach_kernel/IOATAFamily.kext /System/Library/Extensions followed by a diskutilil permission repair.
  8. yeah.... works just fine now. please kick me !
  9. I installed everything... just to be sure!
  10. I installed the JoS 10.4.7 DVD on this Dell 1.8GHz machine. It took a long time to boot from the DVD, but the install was relative quick, however my G4 at home does it quicker. The install ran through all the way and the system rebooted. Now the system tries to start up, but nothing ever happens. The last line I get is "Login Window Application Started" and that's it. I tried it with the onboard video card (intel) and an agp nvidia card. Still the same. any ideas?
