  1. AppleHDA Solution - Work in progress

I have a sigmatel 9228 ven 8384, dev 7616. I too received a panic restart using 10.4.8 Jas with the semtex which has the 8.8.1 Darwin Kernal. I decided to reinstall the 10.4.6 Jas which includes the 8.4.1 Darwin Kernal. I was able to install without a panic but received no sound. I then copied the AppleHDA from this 10.4.6 install to the 10.4.8 hoping that this would work, however this did not work. I repaired disk permissions and reloaded the extensions, and made sure that appleazill (sp?) was not in my extensions folder (which it was not). Taruga...thanks for everything you are doing... I'm sorry for such the noob type question...how do you determine the kernal version your are using???
  3. Broadcom 1390 (4311) help

Another update on my progress (or lack therof): The dependency error in the last post goes away if I replace my modified ionetworkingfamily.kext with the one from the original dvd. However even without this dependency error, I am still not able to use wireless. Another note: AppleAirportBrcm4311 extension is now being loaded upon startup, but remains unusable. I can see it right there in system profiler under the extensions section just laughing and laughing at me!!!
  4. Broadcom 1390 (4311) help

For anyone who may be trying to help me out here is some additional information. If I mannualy kextload /System/Library/Extensions/IO80211Family.kext/Contents/PlugIns/AppleAirPortBrcm4311.kext/ I receive the following information in system profiler: Dependencies: Incomplete Dependency Errors: com.apple.iokit.IONetworkingFamily: No valid version of this dependency can be found Does this mean anything to anybody???thanks
  5. Broadcom 1390 (4311) help

Thanks elfdood...but my card's device id is already in the kext.
  6. Okay folks I can't get my dell 1390 (broadcom 4311 mini-PCIe) to work. Here is some info about my machine and steps I have taken. 1. I installed the dell card and removed the intel from my fujitsu 4215 tablet pc hoping to get wifi in osx. 2. The dell card was successfull installed in both XP and vista. 3. Tried to install JAS 10.4.6 release and upon boot from DVD, a black screen popped up and in several languages I was told that I needed to restart the computer, I did this and continually got the error. So I disabled the wifi in my BIOS and was able to do a clean install 10.4.6. 4. So after the install is complete, I try to enable wifi in the BIOS and get the same error and unable to boot to osX. 5. So I then did a clean install of 10.4.7, with the wifi card enabled I received no errors. However, even though I installed the wireless support from jas (which includes the plist for the card) the card is still not detected. I disabled the following one at a time in the BIOS and still unable to detect: - Hardware power management - speedstep technology - core multi-processing - AHCI configuration - LAN - Bluetooth - IDE controller My current thinking is that OSx is not "seeing" the card and therefor it can't load the driver. I have manually kextloaded the plist, however this has not helped. The dell card is not offered by Fujitsu as an optional upgrade, only the intel and Atheros Super AG is...could I purchase the atheros card and it be detected??? What I find strange is that this card works in both XP and Vista, but not in OSX...I've searched the forums read literally hundreds of posts and am hoping that some genius in the hardware forum can point me in the right direction or offer any help.
  7. I've installed Vista using parallels twice and both times I've been able to work with Vista (and it works quite nicely). However with both installs after a couple of boots Vista freezes at startup. I am able to boot to safe mode, but I can't figure out how to repair the install. My thinking is that I should be able to repair the vista install with the DVD, but how do I boot using the DVD to give me this option? OR... Am I way off track...is there a better way to do this?
  8. Simple Broadcom Wirless Tutorial

Okay...so I've got some additional information that others may be able to help with to come up with a possible solution. I believe the card is not getting loaded on startup...I don't think it gets "seen". Upon boot I complete the following while in terminal: "ioreg -l | grep pci14e4" (I'm not sure what this command means, I saw it in another post) I received the following: "name" = "pci14e4,4311" "IOName" = "pci14e4,4311" "compatible" = <"pci1028,7","pci14e4,4311","pciclass,028000$

I type the following command "kextstat | grep Brcm" in terminal and recieve no information, however if I then manually kextload the AppleAirPortBrcm4311.kext I receive the following output after entering the "kextstat | grep Brcm" command: I receive the following: 85 0 0x3c358000 0x68000 0x67000 com.apple.driver.AppleAirPortBrcm4311 (100.9) <42 16 11 2> Now after all this, I still can't get wireless to work...is there a way to force the appleairportbrcm4311.kext to lead at startup? I think if I can do this then I might have a chance...any thoughts/ideas?
  9. I got the same error and had to disable my wireless card in the bios, it then worked, however I currently don't have wifi
  10. Simple Broadcom Wirless Tutorial

Well this is sure strange...other don't have a problem with a card, it is recognized with vista and xp...my machine must be cursed!!!
  11. Simple Broadcom Wirless Tutorial

I can confirm that the ven ID is 14e4 and dev id is 4311 via ubuntu linix boot.
  12. Simple Broadcom Wirless Tutorial

I currently do not have another os installed and unable to determine the vendor and device id for certain...and currently have it disabled in bios so I can't use system profiler because it doesn't know it is there. However, I believe the ID's are: Ven: 14e4 and dev:4311, but am unable to know for sure...I have a linux ubuntu disk with me, could I use that to figure them out, if so how? I suppose I could also install XP and pull up the info...

Here is what I have done in terms of troubleshooting: 1. Checked the info.plist and my card device is listed as a possible device. Disabled the following one at a time in the BIOS and still received the error: - Hardware power management - speedstep technology - core multi-processing - AHCI configuration - LAN - Bluetooth - IDE controller What I find strange is that this card works in both XP and Vista, but not in OSX...I've searched the forums but am unable to find any help. 14. So with the announcements coming out of Vegas from CES this week about the Modbook, is there some hope for us Tablet PC users with Wacom pens to be able to use them with our Mac installs? http://forum.tabletpcreview.com/showthread.php?t=4900 http://ces.engadget.com/2007/01/04/mac-tab...what-you-think/
