  1. Apple TV - What we know so far.

Looking through the file list posted there, there's some major stuff put in it. iChat,BlueTooth stuff, iSightAudio stuff, Mail, Remote desktop, etc. The list is too long. Also, it seems like this OS is prepared for different hardware too. I wonder if it can handle USB mouse and keyboard. Cheers!

Ah, I'm loosing hope again... Max resolution is 1440x900. By the way! I studied Bimmers files -since our laptops are almost the same - and I saw this in one of his ATI kexts: <key>AAPL,EDID</key> <data><00ffffff ffffff00 06101d92 ...> But Bimmer claims that it is working for him on a zd8000. Which has the same internal display as mine. And as you can see it from the EDID line, his EDID is also for an Apple display! To make it clear here's what I get from MonInfo: For the 1st output it is default monitor on NVidia GeForce FX Go5600 and no EDID. For the 2nd output it is Apple monitor on Auxiliary port with this EDID: Monitor Windows description......... Apple Monitor Manufacturer description.... Color LCD Manufacturer................ My problem is - probably- that nor OS X nor windows can read my laptop displays EDID info corectly, which is -if I remember well- done through I2C.(FYI : OSX gives me Apple display, windows gives some {censored} or no EDID at all, or thinks that I have an Apple display attached as external although there's none. I gave up...) Could it help me if I could manage to disable the I2C EDID reading operation? I recall seeing it somewhere in a header in an XCode framework. Maybe I could fake the EDID reading and pass an extracted one? Bimmer just posted that his laptop is working fine. As I know his display is the same 17" panel that is in my laptop (HP zd7000 series). Could it work np_? Sorry if I asked some silly stuff! I'm still on finding out how things are related. Bimmer! Could you please send me your EDID for your internal display? Maybe I can do something with it. At least I could extract the timing information and the standard resolution/refresh stuff. Thanks!

Alexxxxxx! I see you got the same problem with EDID as me. By the way : today I managed to get EDID info with MonInfo. Interestingly when there were no external displays connected, it reported that I have to displays. One default and an Apple. Funny. At least I know from where the wrong EDID info came. I never had any Apple display connected though. About the EDID : I got vendor of 610. I guess that was to default/no name, right? Black bars still in place... Cheers!
  5. LaptopDisplay

No, I thank you for your efforts! All ioregs I previously posted are like that. Without external display attached. (but to make it faster I repost one of them). Is there a source code somewhere for these kext involved? So I could follow what happens at boot time? I could add some output to them so I could look in /var/log/system.log or something like that. Maybe using the kernel debugger that can be found around the forum? I haven't tried it yet actually. So maybe this was a silly question. Thanks! Go5600NVidiaEFI.txt

I only wish I had an apple cinema 20". But no I don't have one. You maybe right and I got those EDID information from an external. I just realized I have 3 different display drivers in Device Manager under Windows( 1 Plug and play monitor and 2 default monitor). If I disable all nothing happens. I can't even upgrade the drivers, since no new found. I have been using 2 different monitors as external view, one Sony CPD-G200 and a Samsung Syncmaster 910n. Both renders fine as an external monitor under OS X, although my internal display still gives black bars. I used RivaTuner to get the EDID information. Yesterday I played around with the /System/Library/Displays/Overrides files but nothing new. I tried Titan, EDID modified Titan, still black bars. Where to go next?
  7. LaptopDisplay

Yes, I have them on my internal lcd display. I added the EDID information to the DisplayUtility after that, I added it to the created file. I copied it to the location described earlier. After reboot nothing happened, the bars stayed where they were. After that I tried with Natit. I added the EDID information into Natit as @0,EDID. As I remember you told to do so. This didn't helped either. Any clue what did I do wrong? Any logs that could help? Is it possible that the EDID information that I got under Windows is wrong? Jabba
  8. LaptopDisplay

Hey np_! I'm ready to help! And I got a laptop! Allthough I still have those black bars, I couldn't figure out what I'm doing wrong. So if you could give me some hints... Cheers!
  9. LaptopDisplay

np_! Here's what I got from DisplayUtility using the edid information included in my first post. This file was then copied to /System/Library/Displays/Overrides. DisplayVendorID-3ac4 containing: DisplayProductID_0300.txt Hope it helps! Cheers!
  10. LaptopDisplay

Here are the logs. Since np_ didn't told which Natit to use, I used both of them. As the filename sais one is with Natit.kext the other one is with Natit.edited.kext. Natit.edited.kext booted into blank screen, so I had to do it blind, I hope it's ok. And as far as I can tell it seems like when using Natit.kext, it loads ( I checked the /var/log/system.log), but if I do a kextstat I can not see it. Go5600Natit.edited.txt Go5600Natit.txt Now I'll try to fix the DisplayUtility thing. Cheers! Update : I also tried Natit Dual. Here's the log: Go5600NatitDual.txt
  11. LaptopDisplay

Thanks np_! Now I have hope again ! I can try it in a few hours. I'll report back as soon as possible. I created my own display info using your utility, but it only resulted "Color LCD". Maybe I missed something, I'll check that later too. About the resolution/color depth/refresh rate: the display itself has native 1440x900 resolution at 32 bits per pixel. I guess the refresh rate is about 85 Hz. But I'm not sure. I have tried all possible resolution in system preferences, but they all had black bars and it didn't showed any refresh rate. By the way: After applying the file produced with DisplayUtility, OS X recognized my external Sony CPD-200G monitor. Probably I missed something there. Cheers!

Eeeeem. Yes. Sorry. Here we go again : 3 dumps as probably requested. The NVidiaEFI alone reports wrong VMem size (256 Mb instead of 64 Mb). And as I said, without the drivers I can see every column, with any of the drivers every second column is black. I hope it helps. Go5600Nodrivers.txt Go5600NVidiaEFI.txt Go5600AllDrivers.txt Thanks!

Hi All! I've a problem since installing Natit/Titan/NVidiaEFI: Every second column on my laptop display is black . Using an external monitor everything is fine though. Here is my specs: HP pavillion ZD7058cl laptop : P4 2,8 GHz (SSE2), NVIDIA GeForce 5600 Go ( DevID : 0x031a), 17" display(1440x900), JaS 10.4.8. Another interesting thing is that when I make a screenshot (command+shift+3), the picture has all the columns. Can someone help, please? Is there something I'm missing? 14. HP zd8000 owners chime in

Hi there! Although my laptop is ZD7000 series I though I report in too. As far as I could see the only difference we have between the two series is the graphics card (and maybe CPU speed). In my case it's an NVidia GeForce Go 5600. For a while now I used 10.4.6 which worked perfectly except the NVidia drivers ( becouse of the 8.4.1 kernel). I just installed JaS 10.4.8. Now I have Full QE/CI support, although the 17" screen is wierd! It look as if every 2nd column would be black. The resolution is 1440x900. If I change it to 640x480 than it is fine. Another problem is Wifi. 10.4.6 worked exceleny out of the box, 10.4.8 just can't find it. By the way this is a clean 10.4.8 install. Regards, Csaba
