  1. Sapphire 7850 OC 2048MB - 10.9.3 Compatability

I don't think the "7xxx" will be an issue with you, as Slice reported in a comment here http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/288687-radeon-hd-7850-support/?p=1927755 As for the number of ports I am not sure why it shows up as 5 instead of 4. I think it could be because it's reading the vbios written in the ROM directory instead of your actual card, but don't quote me on that.
  2. Sapphire 7850 OC 2048MB - 10.9.3 Compatability

Are you on 10.9.3+? It should be recognized as a 7850 after the vbios inject as the AMD kexts already include the device ID of this card.

I left that part blank in Clover, but if anything it should be Pitcairn. Here is the section of clover.plist to change if you want InjectATI and LoadVbios permanent. <key>Graphics</key> <dict> <key>Inject</key> <dict> <key>ATI</key> <true/> <key>Intel</key> <false/> <key>NVidia</key> <false/> </dict> <key>LoadVBios</key> <true/>

Excellent, glad you got it to work at least partially. I had a dual monitor setup before on HDMI and DVI, it worked just fine on my card after getting it recognized but I am sure the problems vary among different models and vendors. You can always try working with other vbioses in the link I have in the previous post to see if anything works better with another file. Be sure to save your existing vbios just in case.
  5. Sapphire 7850 OC 2048MB - 10.9.3 Compatability

Here is what I did http://clover-wiki.zetam.org/Configuration/Graphics#LoadVBios With the vbios attached, I dropped the file into /EFI/Clover/ROM This is in the EFI partition so you have to mount it to get to these directories. When you reboot you must have InjectATI and LoadVBios checked in the Clover graphics options. This was after I updated to 10.9.3, I'm not sure if you are on 10.9.3 but it is a must for this to work. If that vbios doesn't work you can try downloading the ones I tried before it worked for me here: http://www.techpowerup.com/vgabios/index.php?architecture=ATI&manufacturer=&model=HD+7850&interface=&memType=&memSize=2048 be careful as some vbios files can change the card settings at lower software levels while on OS X if they are loaded, but does not actually flash the bios on your card and thus the changes are not permanent. 1002_6819.rom.zip

I have a PowerColor 7850 2GB, it seemed like no one else on the planet had one but me. If you're still having trouble you can try to inject a vbios of a different make of the 7850 in Clover, it was my last resort. Nothing else helped me except for what I tried out myself, now my card works perfectly. I am running it right now with 10.9.4.
  7. The wifi card works just fine with Mavericks, I bought it 6 months ago. Thanks for confirming this build.
  8. I've had an emachines desktop for some time now, and it's come to my attention that it really sucks. After much research and reading others' success stories, I've come to the conclusion of a modest hack, no I will not overclock or anything like that, no need for a bulk cooler. (Generated by PCPartPicker 2014-04-16 17:38 EDT-0400) I plan on using this rig for work in AutoCAD, and Sketchup since that is what I work with. I want to dual boot with Windows on separate drives. Also, I excluded an optical drive, good because I don't need that. I already own a Rosewill wifi card, a coolmax v600 from an older build, and an AMD 6570 1 GB card. What are your thoughts on this build?
  9. No QE/CI on ATI 6570 [SOLVED]

I cannot update to DP2, my wireless utility app freezes once opened in 10.9. As for the graphics issue, this is what happens. I am not sure if the system is reading the card's properties correctly, as the device ID is 6759, not aa90. Thank you for the reply.
  10. I had recently installed Mavericks over my existing Mountain Lion system, but after the upgrade the QE/CI on my card does not seem to be working. My ATI card had been working perfectly in 10.8, but now I just don't know. I managed to have modified the info.plist in the ATI6000Controller kext, adding my device's ID leading to having the native resolution. Some kernel flags I have used: GraphicsEnabler- If I add yes, then the system hangs at just before the login screen or sometimes it boots but ends up with a black screen as if the system is not using the graphics at all. AtiConfig=Pithecia AtiPorts=3 PCIRootUID=1 Nothing really seems to enable the gfx acceleration as I have tried many other things. Thanks in advance for your help. Edit: I just fixed my problem by: Installed newest Chimera GraphicsEnabler=No Wrote a DSDT for my existing setup & fixed the PCI settings
  11. Mavericks Clean install only?

Yes, you may be able to install OS X Mavericks over Mountain Lion, however, there may be some side effects.
  12. I want to upgrade Lion to mountain lion

It seems your computer may be able to upgrade just fine, but be sure to create a whole system backup to another hard drive using Time Machine just in case anything goes wrong. The 32-bit kexts will be overwritten with newer 64-bit kexts from 10.8, because all but one of the 32-bit kexts are included with the system, so you don't have to worry about downloading new ones.
  13. I want to upgrade Lion to mountain lion

In the System Information window, scroll down under the Software section, there should be a section called "Extensions". Click it and it should show you a list of your 32-bit and 64-bit (Intel) kexts. Identify the 32-bit kexts and post a list or photo of the 32-bit kexts here.
  14. I want to upgrade Lion to mountain lion

I suppose you could still upgrade to mountain lion, you just need 64-bit kexts of the 32-bit kexts you have installed. Just have those ready if they are available and upgrade your install to 10.8.
  15. I want to upgrade Lion to mountain lion

You may have to leave the boot flag in the boot.plist, or boot with 32-bit kexts with arch=i386 in chameleon. You can upgrade to Mountain Lion from Lion sure, it just says that not all of your installed kexts are 64-bit.
