  1. Snow Leopard on Presario C500

Hey again, cheers. I got the iso for Iatkos S3, would you be able to go into more detail about what you chose in the customisation options when installing, I have the kexts to fix the broadcom wireless and the trackpad but can't get the darned thing to boot, it just kernel panics. any help would be appreciated
  2. I am trying to install on a Compaq Presario C500 Specs Intel Celeron 1.73mhz 1GB RAM DVD Drive Broadcom Wireless Intel GMA950 Graphics I've installed Ideneb 1.3?, anyway it's version 10.5.5 leopard, it has installed and now it won't boot, I get as far as the apple screen before it kernel panics, in -v mode is shows Package 0 didn't get an HPET I have tried installing using various different kernels and chipsets in the customization setting of ideneb and also trying to install completely bare, both yeilded similar results, at times i got to the blue screen and others it stopped here. I have yet for it to successfully boot to the desktop in any shape or form Could somebody give me pointers on what I'm doing wrong, or what will work in the OSX install options, now the laptop has no OS i will keep trying until it's a hackintosh. please help. this is infuriating and has taken too long.
  3. Right, installed iDeneb, I get to a sucessfully installed screen using no cusom settings, upon reboot the gray apple appears and the spinner underneath, then it kernel panics, Something about HPET the laptop is a compaq presario C500, I've tried boot123 and this is the furthest i've got. I've tried cpus=1, -s, -x and -v and -f and none of them get aany further than a standard boot, with just a 9.20 sleep kernel I got to a blue screen with nothing, no mouse. just further than this problem HELP?!
  4. Is there any way of getting 10.6 on a Compaq Presario C500, and will it run well, which method will work and what do I need. I have seen somebody with a C500 in their sig running 10.6 but it wasnt specific as to what build, or wether it was a boot 123. any help, I'm a noob, 10.5 distros and boot 123 methods have failed
  5. Presario C500, Best Method?

I have tried once more booting with boot123 in cpus=1 -x -s -v mode together after a very long wait loading kexts and drivers I got this BSD root:: disk1s2, major 14, minor 5 RTL8139:: fixnetflow control, flow control disabled Single user boot -- fsuk not done root device is mounted read only then it says something about making changes to fsuk or typing exit to boot Then crashes? Any ideas?
  6. I have just aqquired a Compaq Presario, it was free, but particularly old so I'm taking this as more of an experiment, if it works I'll be happy but if not then it's no big loss, it works well as a w7 machine. anyway to cut to the chase, I have tried iPC as a distro, and I've tried using a standard bootloader and leopard retail disk, both methods have taken me past the grey apple screen to a blue screen where nothing happens further than this, I've no idea what this is to do with but.... What is the best method for me to attempt, Boot 123 or Distro based installs? Any ideas as to why both don't even get to the install? Oh, and I have seen videos of people running leopard on the c500, I would like to run snow leopard but it doesn't bother me too much, any ideas? Thanks in advance
  7. Dell Optiplex GX520

I will try this soon, going to stick with windows whilst I get some work done, then I'll attempt that method
  8. Dell Optiplex GX520

it is a full retail disk that, for some reason won't recognise my friends system requirements to be valid
  9. Dell Optiplex GX520

I get the first screen but it says I need to read the system requirements thing. Which I've done and the machine i'm on has everything neccesary, not that it matters if it's bieng installed somewhere else I will use the boot from CD option but i've not the slightest idea how you put 3 ISOS on a single CD?
  10. Dell Optiplex GX520

Okay, following the instructions on here, I got ahold of a snow leopard disk. When I try to open OSinstall.mpkg I get the message "For Mac OSX system requirements see the ''read before you install'' document on the installation CD'' the installation box then disappears, any ideas?
  11. Dell Optiplex GX520

I might attempt the hazard 10.6.2 on it, booting from USB will never work, for sure it doesn't even get past the boot screen.
  12. Dell Optiplex GX520

Firstly I don't have a snow leopard disk, and secondly I can't even get to the installation screen of a distro for some reason, and no guides have explained it in any level of detail that makes sense. I'm doubting that it is even possible to boot OSX on the ultra small form factor machine. as far as I got is a still grey apple screen. distros don't boot on DVD, USB or USB drives, retail disk with boot 321 is the furthest I've got
  13. Help

I will give this a go, I am in the slow process of backing kalyway onto a USB in GUID using my friends mac but the estimated time is ridiculous. I don't get how you are supposed to put a 3 part bootloader onto a single CD, this is three ISO's
  14. this DDMAC program leopard install helper won't work, I select a disk and an iso and click start and it instantly says it is finished, it doesn't write anything to the flash drive please help
  15. Help

I'm not at the stage where disk utility is available, before that screen there is an apple logo, like when you boot up normal mac, it just hangs here for a while, I've left it a good 15 mins and it still hangs
