    Read-Only Windows Partition

He is running windows and osx on the same machine. That will only work if windows and osx is on two different machines, or he is running windows in a virtual machine like Parallels.

On the purple jmicron ports, they will only work in AHCI mode without the edits.

Which ports do you have your HDD plugged into, the orange or the purple? The method you followed is used to enable the purple JMicron ports and the regular IDE port for the DVD drive I believe.

    Gigabyte GA-965P-DS3 Thread

With the reseed JAS DVD, I used an IDE to SATA adapter on my CD Rom, had Native set to disabled, set the IDE RAID AHCI selection to AHCI, had the purple ports set to AHCI, plugged both drives in to the orange ports and did not select any other options other than semthex. Its takes quite a while for the CD to boot, but it will boot and it will install. After I got a successful install, I then went back and installed the VIA drivers to get support for the purple ports, edited the kexts as outlined in the DS3 thread. Shutdown. Moved the HDD to the purple port and put the IDE cable back on the DVD drive, set the purple ports back to enabled in the BIOS and it booted like a charm.
  9. on my Gigabyte DQ6, the only way I could get it to boot the DVD is to get an SATA to IDE adapter for the DVD drive, plug the DVD drive into one of the ICH8 SATA ports, plug the SATA hard drive into one of the ICH8 SATA ports, and in the BIOS, set the ports to AHCI. It boots slower than molasses, but it does boot. Once it boots, the install seems to go at a fairly decent speed. Hope this helps somebody.
  10. I have followed the instructions to a T twice, and all I get is a blue screen followed by a black screen with a login prompt. Started with a 10.4.7 JaS DVD, did the Apple 10.4.8 update (not the combo), followed the rest of the instructions. Gave up. Waiting for JaS 10.4.8 DVD to finish downloading.

    10.4.4 installer dvd trouble

I believe there is an installer with the Maxxuss patches, but I havent seen anything on his website about an DVD he has done. Anyway, did you erase the drive and partition it with the 10.4.4 install DVD? As far as I know, you have to use a 10.4.3 DVD or an existing 10.4.3 install to erase and partition the drive and then you can install 10.4.4 on it.

  13. my IP4000 works great with 10.4.3. Detected during install. No additional configuration needed to get it working.

    Native Install from DVD

That board is LGA775, which I believe any supported CPU would be SSE3, so the SSE3>SSE2 patch would not be required.
