Just use this kext and your problem is solved. IOUSBFamily.kext Install it on System\Library\Extensions
  2. 10.6.7 Update released

and new Sleepenabler.... everything works without pmVersion=21 now.
  3. Dell Optiplex GX520

New Sleepenabler works like a charm... my system is fully running with sleep capabilities and vanilla kernel. Sweet!!!!
  4. Dell Optiplex GX520

New Sleepenabler and Legacy Kernel on Nawcom's Blog. SleepEnabler 10.6.7 Legacy Kernel 10.7.0
  5. 10.6.7 Update released

Does it bypasses sleepenabler kext and disable it ? When i boot with pmVersion=21 is like sleepenabler is not installed. I dont have a Kernel panic but my computer don't wake up. Please can someone explain what the pmVersion=21 actually does? Thanks
  6. 10.6.7 Update released

Can some one explain what does the pmVersion=21 command on the com.apple.boot.plist really does? Thanks
  7. Dell Optiplex GX520

Its WORKING!!! I messed up the com.apple.boot.plist, thats why it wasn't working. I have a P4 HT 3.0Ghz, so i need to have arch=i386 or it wont work, right? With this processor we cannot have a true 64bit environment? I then upgraded to the 10.6.7 but had a kernel panic because of the sleepenabler. Do you guys have the sleepenabler kext installed? Without it my Dell dont wake up. I need to disable hyperthreading for sleep to work. Guess i have to wait to the 10.6.7 sleepenabler. Why do you have this? what does it do? One more thing, do you really need the Nulcpupowermanegement kext? whats that for? I installed it to use vanilla because you said that was important but i was having no problems without it on legacy kernel. Thank you Dellmantt for your amazing patience to answer all our questions.

Cant get vanilla kernel to work!!! i get a kernel panic at start up. I need to add arch=i386 manually to start up the system. With this boot file it seems to ignore my flags on the com.boot.plist file at the extra folder. This boot file tries to boot in 64-bit mode by default and i get a kernel panic. Not working for me.

Its force64... I only pick the 64bit option on the legacy kernel install. That way, it will add the -force64 to the com.apple.Boot.plist and thats it. Haven't noticed any difference in 32bit or force 64 bit mode, but i haven't seen any problems either, (probably because i don't use vmware). So i'm sticking with the 64bit mode. Ps. Vmware Fusion 3 now supports 64bit mode on snow leopard. http://reviews.cnet.com/8301-13727_7-10368478-263.html
  10. Dell Optiplex GX520

Just tested new kernel. Also working here. No problems at all. btw, why do you guys disable the 64bit mode on the kernel installation? Im running my Gx620 in 64bit mode since the 10.5 kernel with no problems.

This Guide is about the myhack method using a retail disc not installing with a distro. ( http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/index.php...t&p=1605895 ) If you want to discuss installing with a Distro, please take the discussion to http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=191179 or start a guide yourself. Due to the different configurations available in the 520-620 's it is advisable to compile ones own dsdt. OK SORRY!!!! I will not mention any distro again on your thread. BTW sleep works fine (with hyper threading) in 10.6.5-6. I never tried it with earlier versions. http://code.google.com/p/xnu-sleep-enabler/ Thankx, Ill try that one. Btw , has anyone changed the graphics card on these dell 520 or 620? At 1680 x 1050 the gma950 is a little bit slow.
  13. Dell Optiplex GX520

Have you installed your macosx? I also instaled with iatkos v2 and had no problems. Great distro. If you need any help with that just say it. PS: Use my Dsdt, its on this thread.
  14. Dell Optiplex GX520

But no Core 2 Duo support, wright? Only Pentium D Dual Core. Well i guess ill have to search ebay for a good business on those. I'm am wondering if the cooling system on my 620 is enough to those fastest 9 series.
  15. Dell Optiplex GX520

Dellmantt, do you really have a core 2 duo or is it a dual core? On dell page specs this mobo cant use a core 2 duo http://www.dell.com/us/en/dfh/desktops/opt...cs=22&s=dfh I'm thinking to upgrade my cpu but i think that the best processor this board suports is a Intel Pentium D 960 (Dual Core) 3.6 GHZ. Is this true?? Thanks Dellmantt.
