  1. Nearly have a perfect Lion 10.7.5 running with GeForce 8800GT, and using "lion kernel update 3", all seems good, one last problem. If I plug in an extra monitor the system freezes immediatly, and also it only boots up to a blank white/grey screen with two monitors. Is there a fix for this?
  2. Thanks for all that - the HD 6870 seems like a good option then with Lion 10.7.5 - its also out of stock everywhere I've looked and back-ordered, which is a good sign.
  3. Guys, I may have to get a new graphics card - so I guess its better to get an Radeon then for running Mac on and Mountain AMD system? There's a topic in the working builds section where one guy has a 7950 card working ok here and another separate topic about it here - seems to be ok. I presume there's no point in getting a new nVidia one at the moment due to my experiences as posted earlier in this topic. Or is there some other card I should check out? $300-$400 is ok I guess. Also would be nice if it worked on Snow Leopard AMD also just in case. My nVidia GTX460 works but there are glitches and crashing sometimes, even with a moving wallpaper enabled. Sorry that some of this is off topic, but some parts are on topic also, I'm sure I'm not the only one that will benefit from replies here.
  4. Mr. roon, Do you have graphics acceleration (e.g. can play games) or is it basically then the same as safe mode? Did you have this working on 10.8.2 also? Did you have this working before installing the latest nVidia drivers? Thanks for the time...
  5. Wish I had known that two days ago... Still maybe this will save someone else some time some day.
  6. I've tried everything apart from DSDT to get the graphics cards below to work with no luck in mountain lion 10.8.2 AMD (iAtkos ML2) - tried default apple drivers, web nvidia drivers, entering device ids, etc. I get the NVDAGF100HAL loaded ok message always. GraphicsEnabler=Yes => momenterally see glitched desktop then just black screen with text GraphicsEnabler=No => monitor goes to standby mode In both cases the system is running ok apart from this (could hear a video playing at some point) and booting in safe mode (-x) works ok. Exact same behaviour for both graphics cards. Motherboard: M4A89GTD PRO/USB3 Graphics Card 1: GTX 460 Graphics Card 2: GeForce 8800 GT Is this the current status of NVidia graphics cards on Mountain Lion for AMD systems?
  7. [AMD] 10.7.3 Guide - Experimental Only

32 bits. Its not a bulldozer so I presume 64 bit mode won't work (haven't tried). Working sweet though. The occasional crash, but only once every 4 days or so. Also its booting up on first attempt every time now.
  8. [AMD] 10.7.3 Guide - Experimental Only

Actaully the xpchelper problems seem to have disapeared. Now have a perfectly running (apart from audio, but I have another usb device) system with uptime of more than 2 days. I had installed 10.7.2 first using method 2 and then updated it to 10.7.4 (and reverting the IOStorageFamily.kext). 10.7.2 would not boot without the cpus=1 flag, but 10.7.4 will (but not everytime). So all good . Thanks for the tips...
  9. [AMD] 10.7.3 Guide - Experimental Only

Working mostly for me: ASUS M489AGTD PRO/USB AMD Phenom 965 3.4Hz nVidia GTX 460 OSX Lion 10.7.4 Kernel: V4. Problems: Only boots about 1 in 3 times, other times gets stuck at NTFS 3.1 stage. Audio, ALC892, not working (not recognized using HDA kexts, crackly using Voodoo). Installer, Skype, etc. won't lauch after some time (xpchelper issue I presume - fixes don't seem to work fully). Kernel V6 will not boot fully to desktop (grey screen with some black rectangles), but V4 runs fine. Apart from these its running 100% solid, full graphics, full cores, no crashes.
  10. Custom PC, can I run OSX?

I've been trying for days to get 10.6 working on my M4A89GTD PRO/USB3 motherboard. I finally got it installed with iATKOS S3 and the flags mentioned (-v cpus=1 busratio=20 maxmem=4096), thanks to the posts above. However I can't get the installed system to start up no matter what I try. The same thing happens each time - the boot loader starts loading the OS ok, then after a few seconds the screen goes black with no hard drive activity etc. and stays that way. It goes black so quick I can't see what text is written, but its only about 10 lines before the black screen happens. I've currently got it installed on a single partition GUID disk with the bios set to AHCI disk mode. I've tried using the on-board graphics only as well as my 8800GT card with the same results. I also tried installing the various graphics options (inlcuding none) in various installs with no luck. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
