  1. Guide Clover Dell Precision 690 Workstation

Hi, Rocket12, Thanks for your work. I have a HP Z800 too and I am able to install the system with the installer in this thread. I need to 1) delete AppleHPET.kext from SLE 2) add AHCIPortinjector.kext to SLE 3) use boot argument -v -rootless pcirootuid=0 nv_disable=1 However, I can't boot into the installed system. I have SSD installed and 980TI. I am stuck at usbmsc identifier (non-unique) Any idea why? The boot argument that I have tried are -v -rootless pcirootuid=0 [no working even for installer] -v -rootless pcirootuid=0 nv_disable=1 [this one makes me get to the installer] -v -rootless pcirootuid=0 nv_disable=1 usbbusfix=1 -v -rootless pcirootuid=0 nv_disable=1 usbbusfix=1 -f -v -rootless pcirootuid=0 nv_disable=1 usbbusfix=1 -f kext-dev-mode=1 Thanks!
  2. This is awesome, however could you provide your sample dsdt files? I am using HP Z800 running in Mavericks. Bests!
  3. [Success] 10.9.1 on HP z800

I have successfully installed Mavericks (10.9.1) to my HP Z800. Specification 2x Intel Xeon E5520 @ 2.26GHz Four Cores Eight Threads; 96 GB 1066 MHZ ECC DDR3; Nvidia GTX 760; Intel Rapid raid storage; LSI SAS controller; 1×128 GB SSD and 4x2TB HDD; Procedure Get your Mavericks 10.9.1. This is must, after 10.9.1 the support to LSI SAS controller is removed; On your Mac, use myHack (you can get it http://myhack.sojugarden.com/guide/) to create a USB installer, for which you will need at 8GB stick; Change hardware settings of HP Z800 to make all your SSD and HDD connected to SAS port instead of SATA port (which won’t be recognized). Remove unnecessary component from HP Z800. Change the bios setting of HP Z800 to disable vt-d and make sure booting from LSI is enabled (press ctrl+c during booting to access LSI interface); Insert your USB installer to HP Z800 and use following boot flag “GraphicsEnabler=no PCIRootUID=0 -v -f”. The first two flags we used for the GTX 760 graphic card and “-f” disable kernel cache; Follow the install instruction of the Apple. Approaching to completion, myHack will indicate you to remove some kexts, press “yes” to all of them; After installation is completed, remove the USB installer from HP Z800; Boot HP Z800 to the Mavericks just installed and follow all the instruction; In your system, change boot flag in /Extra/org.chameleon.Boot.plist Benchmark
  4. Need help for Z800 Yosemite Installation

Hi, guys, Thanks for your help. I finally got 10.9.1 runs on my HP z800 and everything runs very well. I use boot flag "GraphicsEnabler=no PCIRootUID=0 -v -f". It seems that, I need to use 10.9.1 and nothing later than it will work. Perhaps I need to roll back some kexts. The detailed step is described in http://167.88.47.13/?p=261

  6. Need help for Z800 Yosemite Installation

    Why no replies? Help please!
  7. Hi, guys, help is needed. I am trying to install Yosemite (14a389) to my HP z800 workstation, which has two Intel Xeon E5520 CPU and 96 GB ram. However, I am stuck at this screen and followed by a black screen (the screen is totally off). To install it, I have installed only one SSD (tried on both SATA and SAS port, which is recognized by bios) and Nvidia GTX 760. For install, I used the latest chamelon (on a USB thumb drive) for boot and another SSD for install file disk. Boot arguments: 1. -v -f kext-dev-mode=1 2. -v -f kext-dev-mode=1 npci=0x2000 The hardware specs: Chipset Intel 5520 2x Intel Xeon E5520, 2.26 GHz, 8 MB cache, 1066 MHz Memory, 5.86 GT/s QPI, 80W 96 GB (12x8 GB) DDR3-1333 ECC Registered RAM 2-CPU Nvidia GTX 760 Thanks!
  8. Hi, any one could help me? This is the second time that I try to install the snow leopard on my G51. The installation is OK. I can boot in the system and install the combo update, However, I can't pass Step 4, i.e. install the macbookpro update v1.3. I reinstall the system, but I still can't pass the 4 th step, i.e. install macbookpro update v1.3. My system is recognized as MacPro 2,1, even after I modified the smbios.plist, systemversion.plist. I also try to replace the applesmbios.kext. However, nothing works: my computer is still recognized as MacPro2,1. I think this is the reason why I can't install the macbookpro update v1.3 By the way, I install the snow leopard on MBR disk. Does it matter? Best!
  9. Is there anyone having problem with installing MBP update V1.3? I can't install the update, although I followed all the instructions of this guide, i.e. change the smbios.plist and systemversion.plist. However, i can install the combo update. I have checked the system info from Mac, which indicates my laptop is "Mac Pro 2,1", although I set it to MacBookPro 6,1 in smbios.plist. Do you any solutions for that? Thanks!

  12. Considering a new I7 laptop

Hi, I guys I want to buy a new laptop around $1000. I need to use the computer to do some data processing and portable. So I select the ones with I7 CPU, at least 4GB ram and possibly dedicated GPU. After searching the web, I narrow to following choice: Acer Aspire 5745 (Intel Core i7 720QM, 15.6") » Acer Aspire 5745 - External Review Intel Core I7 720QM, 15.6'' LED 1366*768, Intel H55M, Nvidia GT330M, 4G DDR3 1066 (16GB Max), 500GB 5400RPM SATA, DVD superMulti, Multi Touch, Number Pad, 2M Webcam and microphone, G Ethernet, 802.11 n, Bluetooth, Card reader, VGA and HDMI, USB 2.0, 3.5 hour battery, $949 Toshiba Satellite A660-15T (Intel Core i7 720QM, 16.0") Intel Core I7 720QM, 16.0'' LED 1366*768, Intel H55M, Nvidia GT330M, 4G DDR3 1066 (8GB Max), 500GB 5400RPM SATA, DVD superMulti, Multi Touch, Number Pad, Webcam and microphone, G Ethernet, 802.11 n, Card reader, VGA and HDMI, USB 2.0, 3 hour battery, $899 Asus N61Jq (Intel Core i7 720QM, 16.0") Intel Core I7 720QM, 16.0'' LED 1366*768, Intel H55M, ATI 5730HD, 4G DDR3 1066 (8GB Max), 320GB 7200RPM SATA, DVD superMulti, Multi Touch, Number Pad, Webcam and microphone, G Ethernet, 802.11 n, Bluetooth, Card reader, VGA and HDMI, USB 2.0, 3 hour battery, $1099 Lenovo IdeaPad Y560-M29B3GE (Intel Core i7 720QM, 15.6") Intel Core I7 720QM, 15.6'' LED 1366*768, Intel H55M, ATI 5730HD, 4G DDR3 1066 (16GB Max), 500GB 5400RPM SATA, DVD superMulti, Multi Touch, Number Pad, 2M Webcam and microphone, G Ethernet, 802.11 n, Bluetooth, Card reader, VGA and HDMI, USB 2.0, 3.5 hour battery, $999 Asus N82JQ-A1 (Intel Core i7 720QM, 14.0") Intel Core I7 720QM, 14.0'' LED 1366*768, Intel H55M, Nvidia 335M, 4G DDR3 1066 (8GB Max), 500GB 7200RPM SATA, DVD superMulti, Multi Touch, Webcam and microphone, G Ethernet, 802.11 n, Bluetooth, Card reader, USB 3.0, VGA and HDMI, 3 hour battery, $1149 The main configuration are quite similar, except for bluetooth, hard drive and number pad. But the GPU is a problem. Since Macbook pro use Nvidia 330M, does that mean the Acer and Toshiba would have better compatibility to Hackitosh? Are there anyone having experiences installing Mac on the above laptop models (especially WiFi, DVD)? Are there any recommendations on the selection? Thanks!
