  2. Can only boot in safe mode!

    I recently used this Guide to install retail Snow Leopard onto my AMD machine... Now when i try and boot from the boot cd into my mac OSX to finish the setup as per the 'after setup' sections of the guide, i get the screen in the attached picture. I can boot into it but only in safe mode. But when in safe mode i cannot connect to internet (internal wireless), it wont recognize any DVD's i put it, and it wont let me use any flash drives. Any ideas????? My specs are: AMD Phenom II X4 955 Gigabyte GA-MA785GMT-UD2H ATI RADEON HD4850 4GB DDR3 1033 RAM 2x500GB WD GREEN SATA HDD SATA DVD DRIVE
  3. AMD and Retail Snow Leopard 10.6.5 --> 10.6.8 Final[GUIDE]

    Do you have to use 10.6.3? i tried it with 10.5.6 and i got the exact same error. And im using a usb keyboard and mouse... Will try with 10.6.3 tomorrow (when i buy the upgrade disk) so i will let you know if that was the problem with me at least. I have almost the exact same system
  4. which distro? (specs inside)

    Check out this post Here. Let me know if you get it working too, i am trying the same thing (almost identical specs except for graphics, but i am upgrading real soon). cheers
  5. Trying to install OSX on brand new built AMD Desktop

    Hey. I am having the same problem. A solution that i have found hopeful (still trying to get it to work) is the guide by hecker (here) that needs you to edit a boot-132 .iso to let it run on your machine. The problem i have is that i don't have a mac to edit the file on and all you need to add is the seatbelt.kext i think to let it run all 4 cores of your cpu, otherwise it will just run 1 core. you may need some other .kext's for your system, but just check the HCL on OSx86 wiki and it should tell you what other ones you need... Hope that helped As for the dual boot, i would recommend installing OSX first cause i believe there is tools available on the OSX that lets you dual boot windows no problem (dumb you can install windows on mac but not mac on windows)
  6. Essential Windows Programs

    Microsoft security essentials is good, but kinda tricks you by having a 5mb or so file DL then a 300MB virus databse update. But still better than AVG
  7. Custom AMD boot-132

    hey you reading this sentence right now... I am trying to install OSX onto my AMD machine, and i don't have access to a mac at all. no friends own one, and if i could afford one myself i wouldn't be writing this right now. After hours of forum reading, i found a way to boot OSX onto my machine, but i need a mac which kinda puts me into a stupid position. Would anyone please just help me with 1 step, and that is creating the custom boot-132 .iso file for me that my system can run on. I will attach everything you need, and a link to the instructions. The instructions are at AMD boot-132 customisation Just follow the sections that read 'Part Two - Creating a Boot-132 CD for AMD' All the files you need is attached at the bottom. If anyone can help i would be epically great full!!!! My specs are: AMD Phenom II X4 3.2GHz quadcore Gigabyte GA-MA785GMT-UD2H ATI Radeon Hd4850 graphics 4GM DDR3 1033MHz RAM SATA HDD and DVD drive THe only .kext file that i can find that needs adding is the seatbelt.kext which can be found HERE (rapidshare) Voodoo_Kernel_Release_1.0_Rev_A.dmgorig_boot_132.iso.zip
