  1. I suggest that you install os x quickly, just make it bootable with no other extra fancy stuff, and go to disk utility to do the required hdd format/partitioning. Current installation methods are written for ppl who already have osx up and running.
  2. Lion Install X58

Hello I tried installing OS X Lion a few weeks ago. And sadly, I failed. I did it with tonymac's method, and I got it installed, but when I tried to boot from the hard drive, it displayed "DSMOS has arrived". And it didn't boot. I have a SL/Win7 dual boot in seperate HDDs (GUID annd MBR) And I wanna upgrade from my SL to Lion. I need to know what I need to do. Based on some research, I may need to delete SleepEnabler or GraphicsEnabler or both. But not a lot of ppl use my mobo (ECS X58B-A2) and it sucks to research. I didn't have OS X on my mind when I was buying the computer, so anyway, yeah. Can I get some help? My full specs are: ECS X58B-A2 Motherboard Intel Core i7 920 @ 2.66GHz CPU nVidia GeForce 9800GT 512MB 4GB DDR3 RAM 1TB Seagate HDD (MBR with 2 partitions, one running Win7) 300GB Seagate HDD (GUID with one partition, running Mac OS 10.6.8 installed with iAtkos S3V2) and that's about it. If you need any more info please leave a reply and i will try to provide the info. Thanks a lot
  3. Hello I was wondering if i could dual boot MBR with GUID First let me tell you my hard drive configuration. One 1TB SATA HDD, Partition 1 as my Windows 7, Partition 2 as a Backup Partition One 320GB SATA HDD, Partition 1 (250GB), Partition 2(50GB) I am planning to install OS X Snow Leopard on the 320GB HDD, and I want it to have a GUID partition table. I didn't do anything to that HDD except partition it when I was installing Win7. I'm planning to use the Partition 1 of the 320GB HDD as the SL partition, and the Partition 2 (the 50GB one) empty. Can you tell me if it's possible to dual-boot with MBR on one HDD and GUID on the other? Also, do I need to change any BIOS settings? my computer specs 1TB Seagate SATA HDD, 2 partitions 320GB Seagate SATA HDD, 2 partitions ECS X58B-A2 Motherboard Intel Core i7 920 CPU NVIDIA GeForce 9800GT 512MB GPU 4GB DDR3 RAM thankx for your help
  4. yeah.. am i too late? please tell me. im kinda new here..
  5. Hi guys this is my first guide here... Anyhow, let's get to business! My basic hardware specs are: ECS X58b-a2 mobo Intel Core i7 920 @ 2.66 GHz nVidia GeForce 9800GT 512MB. THIS WAS TESTED ON A X58 BOARD [this method can be used for other boards with a few tweaks!!] UpDATE: NO BOOT FLAGS NEEDED! Download iATKOS S3 V2 .iso file and burn it to a blank DVD (I'm sure you all know how to burn) Then boot into the DVD with "cpus=1 busratio=20" [without the ""s] (you don't need boot flags for non-X58s) (many tell you to change your BIOS settings, but there's really no difference) Then select your language. Click the arrow Go to Utilities tab at the top menu. Click on Disk Utilities. [iMPORTANT: YOU DO NOT. NOT. NOT NEED GUID PARTITION TABLE!! YOU ARE FINE WITH MBR] Then click on your desired partition/hdd. Go to Erase tab. Select Mac OS Extended (Journaled) and name it whatever you want (ONLY alphabets and NO spaces!) Click erase. Then exit. Click next until you arrive at the disk selection page. Select your drive you erased a minute ago (I named it Hackintosh) BEFORE YOU CLICK INSTALL CLICK ON CUSTOMIZE!!!! For X58: Chameleon v2 RC4 Graphics enabler /Extra Directory fakesmc Disabler RTC EVO Reboot AHCI SATA Intel SATA/IDE Jmicron SATA/IDE Voodoo HDA Apple HDA Evo speedstep For other boards: same as above, but UNcheck the following: Intel SATA/IDE Jmicron SATA/IDE Evo speedstep Then click install. Wait. Reboot. Then boot into the Hackintosh HDD with "cpus=1 busratio=20" [without the ""s] (you don't need boot flags for non-X58s) ENJOY!!
