  1. ATI HD 5770

Been working on trying to get my sleep function working. Installed sleepenabler lastest version but when it 'wakes' the graphics are all screwed. I can see about 15% of the screen and its all flickery and the rest is black. Is this a GPU problem or a sleep kext problem? Any help as per usual much appreciated! Also since i have my GPU working if anyone needs any tests run let me know x
  2. ATI HD 5770

My lan card works fine (I presume I can see it in system profiler) and I have a airport express in the other room so I will use that if all else fails. I have no wifi card installed as of yet I may buy one if I cant get my WG111v3 working or my Belkin f5d7050 v.4xxx - these are 2 wifi dongles I have around the house. From all my searches I cant see anyone making these work on 10.6.4 even with the chipset drivers for older versions. I'll purchase a new pci wifi card now I know my GPU works! Thanks so much for all the advice!

I'm not sure of my problem either...! All working now though just need to get my wifi sorted but thats no biggy! I would love to make a donation to you or insanelymac or something of your choice in return for your help please let me know which!

Wow finally got it working! Thanks for the guide(s) all working with 2 monitors extended desktop PERFECT!
  5. ATI HD 5770

Everytime I update to 10.6.4 I get a KP. Also, is there any quicker way to "try again" rather than reinstalling SL again. As for the boot.plist im using the one from this guide http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=222761 is that ok
  6. ATI HD 5770

Ok I may just be an idiot but I can't get this to work... I'm not sure how I mix your instructions with this ( http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=222761 ) guide - I keep get a KP. The only bit of your instructions I don't understand are to do with the ati.rom or 1002_68b8.rom - I'm presuming the ati.rom is 1002_68b8.rom? Do i just put it in the extras folder that I've created as per the instructions of the above guide? Regarding my boot.plist I am using the one from the guide above and just leaving in the graphics enabler do I need to add anything about 1002_68b8.rom? The bootloader you linked me to doesnt have a perf panel? So i'm not sure what you mean about that? I am right in saying I don't need to use any of the 5770 drivers/kexts as its the rom that im using instead? Also regarding multiboot - thanks for the advice on that I'm sure once i get my bloody GPU working all will be fine *also* - each time i get a KP im starting from scratch with my boot132 cd and reinstalling everything again i there a quicker way?
  7. ATI HD 5770

Wow great reply thanks for the advice cracking on with that now! 4 - which boot file on page 34 rev513.zip? Just trying to package everything on to my USB before I crack on and try all this out 5. not sure I am going to understand this instruction do you mean add a string called graphicsenabler to boot.plist? and what is ati.rom and what do i have to do with that another string? I follow that I can use the perf panel in the new chameleon to add these but not quite sure what i am adding! Don't feel obliged to answer those questions! I should be able to work it out when OSx finishes installing...again. Also - on a side note I plan to dual boot osx (once its installed) with windows 7. I have two hard drives and my plan is to install osx as I am now then unplug that hard drive, plug in my other one and install windows 7 then plug them both in and hopefully the bootloader will work between the two. I'll check this out properly in the other forum later.
  8. ATI HD 5770

I've read through all 30 odd pages of this thread and I'm not sure if i'm more confused or not!! But I am sure the right information is somewhere in there! I have a 5770 http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=222761 - is the guide i used to install mac osx from the disk. I modified the bootloader slightly to include the ATY_Init kext and that enabled me to load up and install osx fine. Then I am at a bit of a loss... The furthest I've got is to install the bootloader listed in that thread and install the ATY_Init kext and boot up with out the CD but I only have 1024 resolution and the system profiler doesn't see my GPU as anything more than 256mb GPU. Both my monitors do work though. Ideally I would like both monitors to work as an extended desktop with high resolution. I am so confused as to what version of ATY_Init kext I am supposed to use and when I should upload to 6.4 any advice much appreciated! I am willing to pay for a solution or make a donation to someones preference! I don't expect to be helped for free! Nor do I want my answers on demand without me doing a little leg work! But I've read through this entire thread and Im at a loss haha Thanks guys! Also - Each time I get a KP or blackscreen through trial and error I'm not sure of the best way round it so I am reinstalling OSX everytime...very time consuming... Is there anyway I can use my bootloader CD that works and boot back into the desktop without having to reinstall EVERYTHING. I know about -s mode but not sure what the command is to mount my drive and whether that will work
  9. Load Kexts into Bootloader?

Thanks I'll look into it. Much appreciated!
  10. Load Kexts into Bootloader?

You make a valid point! Tis a bit rude of me to ask advice and not do any of the leg work! I've read this thread back to front: http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/index.php...9818&st=120 and http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=222761 I am using the bootloader from the later thread, Boot132. However, I am only getting a black screen presumably because I am using a 5770. The rest of my rig is asus P6X58D-E i7 930 everything else fairly standard and I haven't read of any issues with it.
  11. Is it possible? I have a 5770 GPU and I have the kexts for it however I can't load them until I've installed SL. However, I can't install snow leopard until I can get past the black screen I get after loading from the SL disk.
  12. I've given up! Tried everything and still can't get past the black screen! IF anyone can point me in the right direction of what to read on here I'd be forever thankful. I've exhausted the search bar!
  13. Yep worked it out! I was being a noob! Now however, I am just getting a blank screen with my CPU fan going mental... It may be by GPU i have a ati 5770... do I need to modify my boot132 to take into account my GPU?
  14. ATI Rad 5770 which I know is not supported until recently... as I see in this thread http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/index.php...05802&st=40 the drivers have now been released. Do I have to get these drivers and load them into boot132. If this is the case I'll keep reading and work out how to do it myself (eventually) I don't like asking questions when there answers are there to be found! Not fair on you guys who write all the guides only to have someone pop up and ask the question again without reading what came before!
  15. I am so lost i've read lots of guides! I've got the boot132 loading perfect, the bios settings set appropriately but whenever I load up into the mac SL cd i just get a black screen and my CPU fan goes mental (at least I think its the CPU fan just goes on to max speed)
