    GTX260 Core216 [joint tutorial]

I've got some work to do, and I reported this thread for soft delete until I complete the tutorial. I now know it works, but I want to explain it to everyone not only how to install but how to upgrade the driver.

    GTX260 Core216 [joint tutorial]

I am guessing that lots of people here are moving to nVidia 2XX from 8XXX and 9XXX. Well, that's fine with me, I'm also one of you guys. Here I will try to create tutorial or walk-through on how to remove old drivers, from 8 and 9 series, and install new ones for GTX260 and onwards. I have GTX260 Core216 (I know, I rule) and the rest of the configuration is as follows (just for "reference"): CPU: Intel Core2Duo E6750 + OCZ Vendetta 2 MoBo: DFI Infinity BloodIron T2L RAM: Kingston HyperX 2x1GB DDR2 PC9600 + Kingston HyperX 1GB DDR2 PC8500 VGA: Gigabyte GTX 260 Core 216 MON: ProView AI2237W + ViewSonic VA2216w HDD: WD 640GB Black Edition SATA 32MB | WD 320GB SATA 16MB | Maxtor 160GB 8MB OPT: LG DVD 16x - Pioneer 115D Case: Chieftec Matrix MX-01BD-U | Chieftec 400W v2 SND: Creative SoundBlaster Live! 5.1 | Altec Lansing 251 | Creative Inspire P580 INET: UMTS/GPRS Rest of: Logitech DeLuxe, MX310, MX518, PantherXL, Logitech QuickCam, ASUS TV/FM, Zip100 [Part I - Removing the old] Now lets go to removing those old drivers. Boot up your MacOS X with -x, so you can go to SafeMode. After that go to /System/Library/Extensions/. Search for: # GeForce.kext # all that start with NVDAN # NVDAResman.kext # NVKush Copy found files on your USB Flash or somewhere on your other partition or other HDD so you have a copy. After copy, delete them. This is where things get blurry for me, and I would like for someone to step in. [Part II - Installing the new]

    GeForce 200 series support

Drivers are NOT in the first post of the topic because there is nothing on netkas website since the IRC channel he is talking about is a hoax at least. If someone has the drivers, let him post it or direct where can we download. I have to say Im sorry. The link on netkas website to IRC channel is bad, no doubt but there is another IRC channel mentioned in another topic. So there it is. For this combo you need nvidia drivers + netkas enabler.

    Still Waiting for Root Device

You need to find your computer specification.
  9. Hello, I have been looking around for info about this laptop, and is it possible to install 10.5.6 on it? I tried a couple of times, with half luck, because I got the install going, but when booting. I got stuck. It's not a big problem I guess I can solve it. Its the "Waiting for the root device.". Bigger issue is the drivers, namely, graphic driver. I was confused to see FS using not Intel GMA, but SiS? I thought that firm went bankrupt long time ago. Well, the dilemma is here, if anyone can assist, it would be a tremendous help.

    How to install driver

Hello, This is one easy question, I guess. Few days ago I've was doing something in Network panel and I clicked on minus sign when the LAN was selected. And I didn't paid attention to that, since I was configuring Bluetooth, and I just clicked apply, and closed the panel. When friend came over, he wanted to copy some things of my pc, he pulled out his UTP cable, and what do you know. The blasted LAN in Network panel is gone. I dont know how to get it back. I've tried to click on a plus sign, selected PPPoE and in the next drop-down list I had nothing. I have Marvel Yukon 80E8053 chip, that was installed on MacOS X 10.5.6 iPC. Hope someone has the answer for this. Thanks!
  12. First off I must say this forum is confusing. It has all the necessary stuff, but its hard to find anything since half of the post start with I NEED HELP, and there is very little description, and search in SMF is not Google. ====================================== My computer: ---------------- CPU: Intel Core2Duo E6750 MoBo: DFI Infinity BloodIron T2L RAM: Kingston HyperX 2x1GB DDR2 PC9600 Video: Gainward 8600GT GS GLH Display: ProView AI2237W Hard Drive: WD 320GB SATA 16MB | Maxtor 160GB 8MB Optics: Pioneer 115D Case: Chieftec MatrixTX | Chieftec 400W v2 Sound: ALC885 | Altec Lansing 251 Internet: UMTS/GPRS Mouse: Logitech DeLuxe Keyboard: MX518 ====================================== I have installed Kalyway 10.5.2, and God only knows how, I have upgraded it to 10.5.5. I did the upgrade with clean 10.5.2 install, I have selected vanilla kernel from start, and haven't used any patched ones. I have got to the point where I need some help. My questions: 1. I could login to safe mod, because I couldn't pass the blue screen, after loading. When I got in to the safe mod I have installed 10.5.2_NVkexts+.pkg. Than I could boot in normaly, but the resolution was ackward. When I changed it to 1680x1050, the screen went from normal to black, than pause, than blue (like in pre loading) and stayed blue. QUESTION: How can I change the resolution without getting this blue screen? 1a. If I got the wrong drivers, how can I uninstall them now? 2. What are correct drivers for my video card? (I have seen so many I dont know what to install) 3. Can I set the loading screen (with gray Apple logo and rotating thingy) to 1680x1050, since I've got a feeling its somewhere about 1024x768? 4. How can I remove drivers that I dont need. I have installed all drivers for network and wifi, and I realize I dont need half of them now. How do I remove them? 5. When it goes to reboot, he shows the "stars screen" and it should reboot. But instead it goes in graphics mode and stays there, showing AppleYukon2:....... set WolEnableGPIO........-failed to get ACPI device (or something like that). How do I fix this? I would appreciate any answer, the url to solution would be great! -- Nemanja
