  1. Confused: What is the latest 10.4.8?

Great idea Ace. Those who have been doing for a while can chime in. I'm essentially a newbie, having successfully installed JAS 10.4.7 with everything I need working. I installed JaS.10.4.8.AMD.Intel.SSE2.SSE3.iso on another partition successfully as well. But the odd thing is, System Profiler does not know what kind of CPU my computer is. It's not correctly identifying my system. That's why I asked the question.
  2. Hi guys, I've been searching and reading as much as possible on this forum and am a little confused. What is the latest release for 10.4.8. Do I need to download some ppf to get it up to date? The torrent version I downloaded was JaS.10.4.8.AMD.Intel.SSE2.SSE3.iso. Is that the latest? Any help is appreciated.
  3. Worth upgrading from 10.4.7 to 10.4.8?

I backed up the partition for 10.4.7 in case 10.4.8 doesn't work. Does ACPICPUThrottle.kext work in 10.4.7? I wonder if you could just grab the 10.4.7 copy and use it in 10.4.8?
  4. Worth upgrading from 10.4.7 to 10.4.8?

Thanks for all the comments so far. I'm backing up up the 10.4.7 partition to another HDD and will try the 10.4.8 and see if it will work. The strange thing is that when 10.4.7 booted, the sound came on and I was floored! I tried 10.4.8 before and no sound.
  5. Hi guys, I just got 10.4.7 working with sound, QE/CI, WIFI working great last night. I have the new JAS 10.4.8 release and was wondering whether it's worth upgrading. Are there significant enhancements to worth reinstalling all over again? BTW, my machine is a Dell I9200, Pentium M 2Ghz (SSE2 only), Atheros a/b/g, 1900x1200 resolution, 1.5Gb RAM. Thanks.
  6. 10.4.7 on Dell I9200

Hi all, I don't know how I did it, but by all means, I am a newbie and I read and read and read, and searched the forum. I somehow managed to get JAS 10.4.7 working on my Dell I9200 laptop, with Atheros a/b/g (a band don't seem to work, but that's cool), 1900x1200 resolution, and ATI Mobility 9700 with QE/CI working! I assume QE/CI is working by looking at the System Profiler. Mouse tears is there, but I can live with that. Chipset Model: Radeon Mobility 9600/9700 (M10/M11) NP Type: Display Bus: PCI VRAM (Total): 128 MB Vendor: ATI (0x1002) Device ID: 0x4e50 Revision ID: 0x0000 Displays: Color LCD: Resolution: 1920 x 1200 @ 60 Hz Depth: 32-bit Color Core Image: Supported Main Display: Yes Mirror: Off Online: Yes Quartz Extreme: Supported I tried the 10.4.8 and didn't have good luck. Thanks for all great posts and help on the forum! I needed OS X to run because I had to learn Logic Express for a class soon and was contemplating on getting a Macbook Pro. But I think I'll now hold off until Leopard and the C2D 800FSB comes out.
