1. By making "a new Extensions.mkext" do you mean by using kext utilty and reapair permissions? I´m not sure how to make a new extension.mkext and kext utility only seem to work on boot disk. I´m trying to fix a boot drive which I cant boot from. Thanks for your help.
2. Thanks for the answer. It seems that it is related to sleep.enabler.kext. A lot of people have been experiencing the same thing. I tried simply removing it from home/extra/extensions but without luck. Does the system need this kext to start up? Or can i somehow disable it, and if so, how? Thanks in advance.
3. I got Kernel panic in restart after updating to 10.6.6. I originally installed SnowLeopard from authentic DVD using EFI empire. Now when updating the system (for the first time using "update combo" as recommended) I get kernel panic during the first second after selecting start up disk. Has somebody updated successfully using "GA-X58A-UD3R **rev 2.0*" and intel i7 930 ? What to beware? regards
4. Sorry for a silly question(i've tried to find my answers by searching the forum and the www) but how do I install this precompiled DSDT on an already set up system, with out changing the bootloader( I´m using EFI-Empire) ?
5. Hi there. I´ve got this mobo GA-X58-UDR3 rev 2.0. and i7 930, ASUS Engts 250 graphic card I´ve installed Snow Leopard using EmpireEfi and installed myHack. (havent updated to 10.6.4 yet) I Used RTGNICv2.0.4 for ethernet and it works. Legacy889HDA.kext, AppleHDA.kext, VoodooHDA.kext together made 889 work fully(i think). I did try some Geforce drivers but it doesn´t seem to change anything. GTS 250 seems to work ootb. I tried installing Envy24_SL64bit_0.20 for my Audiophile 2496 card but that doesn't work for some reason. About this mac reports wrong hertz for my memory, should be 1333 DDR3 but is reported as 667 DDR2 Apart from that everything seems to work just fine. So my question is: What exactly will I gain from using " x58_ud3r_rev2_dsdt.zip" and modified "smbios.plist"? and secondly is it as simple as putting the DSDT in the "Extra/Extension" folder(and change com.apple.Boot.plist" and reboot? I didn´t dare to use the ##### user dsdt as it seems to install new bootloader which could conflict with myhack.
6. Thanks for you advice So...... I should either go with GA-P55M-UD2 or buy twice as expensive GA-X58A-UD3R? What are the advantage of x58 and i7 920(930) compared to p55 and i5-750?
7. Hi, I need some advice for my first Hackintosh. First I need to know if I should go for a cheaper version of X58 or buy a good old p55 (which everybody seems to be using) These are the p55 I´m considering: Gigabyte S1156 GA-P55M-UD2 Gigabyte S1156 GA-P55A-UD3R MSI P55-GD65 Asus P7H55-M PRO The GA-P55M-UD2 seems to have everything I need so I don´t see why I should get a more expensive, if you think the other are in some way more compatible with Hackintosh then comment. Here are the x58: MSI X58M MSI X58 Pro-E ASRock X58 Extreme Are those compatible with mac os? Or do I need to buy more expensive like GA-X58A-UD3R. Is X58 in some way more difficult to set up than p55? Thank in advance Thordur
