2. General OSX kext questions

Thank you very much! This exactly the kind of stuff I was looking for. Hopefully I'm up to the task and can help the community out a little bit. Eric
3. General OSX kext questions

I'm just curious why there is a lack of support in OSX for so much hardware that have open source drivers? Is it simply a lack of man power to port these drivers or is it something more complicated? For example it seems like there is zero support for Intel wifi drivers in Lion/SL yet there existed projects for these drivers in earlier versions of OSX. Did they just get abandoned or did Apple do something to make it difficult for new drivers to be created unofficially? If it's just a matter of man power I would be very interested in devoting some time to help the cause. If anyone can point me to some good resources to get started I'd be willing to put in some time. Thanks Eric
4. Making a DSDT for Dell Inspiron 15R (N5110) sandy bridge

Anyone know how to disable tapping on this touchpad? Also, all the gestures are disabled like the two finger scroll, pin zoom in/out as well as the far right and bottom scroll wheel areas. Anybody know how to enable these features?
5. Making a DSDT for Dell Inspiron 15R (N5110) sandy bridge

MaLd0n, Any chance you could modify my DSDT as well? Also, if you have time would you detail what patches you're applying and what software you're using? I'd like to learn how this all works. Dell I15R N5110 Intel Core™ i5-2410M 6GB DDR3 Intel HD graphics 3000 dsdt.zip Also, I'm trying to get SL 10.6.8 up and running and here is a breakdown of what I'm doing. ##### 3.1.1->install SL 10.6.0 install updateHelper install 10.6.8 combo modify AppleIntelHDGraphics.kext's Info.plist find the "IOPCIPrimaryMatch" string and append my DeviceID/VendorID to the end as it's not included "0x01168086" reboot and I see the Apple start screen after about 5-10 seconds the top half of the logo distorts with random noise and it hangs there never booting into SL 10.6.8 Now, when I get a proper DSDT I would install that via ##### after I upgrade to 10.6.8 but before rebooting.. I don't really know what additional kexts to install or any other specific modifications I need to make before booting into 10.6.8 for the first time. Any suggestions on what is actually causing the boot to fail after the 10.6.8 update? Thanks Eric
