  1. I have successfully installed SL on a Maxtor USB 320 gb drive using my HP Pavilion dv6835nr. I would rather have it on the internal HD. When dual booting, SL retail install disk doesn't allow me to format 2nd partition. Ubuntu 10.04 is on the first partition. Is the only way to make dual booting possible is to put SL on first partition? Everything seems to work ok except built-in wireless (BCM4312) and I also need to learn how to patch boot file and some other file that I can't remember what it's called. (it's been a week or so since last booting into SL)
  2. Hello. For some reason, I can't get this page. When I had Vista on this Pavilion dv6835nr, it said my wireless card was a Broadcom 4312. Can't remember (didn't write it down) what my Ubuntu says it is. I'd like to work with the package from the URL that you noted. Can you help, please?

And now a day later, after installing 2 updates using the software updater, bcm4312 is not working. In the system profiler under "AirPort", it shows this: Software Versions: Menu Extra: 6.2.1 (621.1) configd plug-in: 6.2.3 (623.1) System Profiler: 6.0 (600.9) Network Preference: 6.2.1 (621.1) AirPort Utility: 5.5.1 (551.19) IO80211 Family: 3.1.1 (311.1) I haven't gone through a programming class as of yet. Does anyone have another solution?
  4. Can anyone help me with the cmd to list hardware? I tried 'sudo lshw' (which works in Ubuntu/Kubuntu) doesn't work on my OSx86. That cmd used in Linux isn't specific enough on some components.

Installed and working on a Maxtor Basics 320 gig USB HD which is plugged into a HP dv6835nr, which has a BCM4312. :P :D :D
  6. hi eshroom. do you think this kext will work with my dv6835nr. i completed installation and updates early this morning. rebooted and now no audio, no keyboard and mousepad [i'm using on-screen keyboard], and no wi-fi.
  7. Nice to know about these issues as I'm thinking of trying to install SL on my Pavilion dv6835nr notebook, dual boot with Kubuntu 10.04, Lucid Lynx.
  8. Isn't AMD "not" supported? Only Intel processors? Maybe it depends on what is used to boot to start the install process.
