    fixed it used this kext http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/index.php...p;mode=threaded and the kext Helper b7 installer

Installed and booted fine and everything else looks good except the nic is not seen. sepcs on the machine ... http://www.legendmicro.com/Store/6702_Leno...57-Desktop.lmsp anyone know where I might be able to find a kext for a Intel PRO/1000 Gigabit Ethernet - IEEE 802.3ab?     specs on machine = Intel® Celeron® D Processor 336, 512MB, 40GB 7200RPM S-ATA HDD, PCI/PCIe Desktop (3x3), Intel Graphics Media Accelerator 950, 48x CD-ROM, Intel Gigabit Ethernet
  8. Ok after I finally get it to boot ( and working ),but my network does not work ? Now when I go to do the internet setup it list the network card and seemes like it is good . When I try to configure the card - I am asked for dhcp ( which I am ) and my dhcp client ID? I have never had to enter a client ID before - any ideas how I can find out that id ?
  9. fyi - switching to a sata hard drive fixed my issue. Now I just need to get the nic card to work ( almost there ). Anyone have anyideas on the nic?
  10. I booted off of osx Intel CD and ran Disk Utility from the Install menu, and doing a Repair of my drive and also a Repaired Permissions- no luck. I also tried booting off an OS X install CD again and ran Startup Disk from the Install menu, pick my HD, and restart - No luck. any other ideas???
  11. ok I tried platform=X86PC -x -v X86PC -x -v -x -v -v all those combonations gave the same action (grey screw driver ). Now at -v it at least showed me where it is hanging . After the ethernet is detected - it hangs and displays "still waiting for root device " - with out the quotes . any other ideas . Thanks again, John
  12. ok version is MacOSx 10.4.3 8F1111A Patched Jas v4.2b f8 (unless I have total missed somthing here ) will not help with osx??? Nwebie in the sense of osx on intel and bsd... I also have a 10.4.4 - would it be better to use that ? what do I need to do to the iso ( so that it will work ) ? Thanks for the help , John

  14. when I boot for the first time I just get the apple logo and then after a while an image of little grey screw appears? I have read that this may be related to dries not being set to master ( they are ) . Help any ideas??? Thanks for the help , John
