  5. Since installing my system las months, I have had a great prototyping and testing experience with my hacktosh. However the last few days I have been noticing drive failures, complete system freezes, and just general problems booting etc. I have come the conclusion this was the result of my original test drive I used for the installation - a western digital 35.0GB raptor 15k rpms. As of today I am preforming a clean installation and figured I might as well create a step to step guide for anyone else, who has beat their heads against the walls with a similar transitional setup. I will be including some screens, and system pictures on completion of the thread. Here are the specs of my base setup. Every time I boot, I get greeted by the sound of my graphics card fans running at 100% with no video. Tried switching ports, etc still nothing, tried using a custom rom and others off the interweb. Any suggestions? 6. Wow im blind. Thank you Very much!
  7. Any chance of posting that boot loader Mohamed Khairy made for you? I am thinking about picking up a diamond version of the card - specifically 5870PE52G. I have an old diamond 5870 that I have been having a hell of a time to get working with my system and lost out on the opportunity to post my device information for Kabyl when he was still working on the boot loader support for chameleon. No matter what I do I get black screens, and 100% fans - tried all the optional frame buffers, did the card rom export and other trickery, and nothing Thank you! Adam

  9. Doesn't sound good, have you tried locating jp11 jumper and clearing bios settings? Something else you can try is removing the video card, try to boot up and hear for beeps for an unseated video card error, power off put back in and try again. I had a similar problem with the older gigabyteosx 1.6 release. Also make sure that your video card is placed in the secondary peg2 slot not primary peg1. Hope this helps!
  10. Interesting, Im using 8GB in my build right now and have not had any problems at all.

  12. I use a 250gb file mate ssd in a different computer that runs 10.6 snow leopard on different equipment but it's near identical, it is much faster but unless you a running ssd drives in RAID you are not going to see mind blowing performance. My suggestion is for the speed vs the price I would get a western digital raptor drive - hope this helps
  13. nice guide! I will check this out later tonight, it looks very promising - my only gripe is not 5870 video card support from apple yet
