  1. Thanks for the input guys. I dumbed my specs (and price!) down a bit and these are the changes... CPU: i5-750 MOBO: Gigabyte GA-P55A-UD4P MOBO VIDEO: EVGA Geforce 9800GT RAM: Corsair Dominator 8GB DDR3 PC1333 HDD: Kingston V+ SSD 128GB Does Kakewalk support the Gigabyte P55 UD4P? Is this board still pretty good for, if not fully, vanilla install?
  2. mac09hack, thanks for the input. I've been doing some reading so everything's not so foggy but I'm ready for some screw ups along the way. Still contemplating which mobo to get. Might go with the gigabyte because of compatibility, just hope I don't get a DOA mobo from newegg. Anyone with the ASUS board have pros and cons of the board? I tend to lean towards ASUS because of their reputation.
  3. So I'm biting the bullet and decided to build my first Hackintosh! I'm planning to use this rig mainly for audio editing in logic, a bit of video editing, and some gaming. Here's a list of my specs. Any info would be appreciated, especially in the realm of compatibility... For Motherboard it's between:GIGABYTE GA-X58A-UD3R and ASUS P6X58D-E. Asus seems to be the winner as I've heard many problems with the UD3R, however I know that Gigabyte boards are more similar to the internal mac components. Any input would help tremendously Asus Gigabyte CPU: i7-930 Bloomfield 2.8GHz CPU RAM: G.SKILL 12GB (6 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1333 RAM VIDEO: BFG GeForce GTX 275 VIDEO POWER SUPPLY: Antec TruePower New TP-750 750W PSU HDD: SAMSUNG Spinpoint F3 HD103SJ 1TB 7200 RPM HDD MONITOR: HP 2709m 27" 3ms(GTG) HDMI Full HD 1080P Widescreen 16:9 LCD Monitor MONITOR DVD: LG Black DVD Burner (SATA) DVD Hopefully I've made some good choices. Let me know what you guys think, thanks!

    build my own apple tv?

Boy do I miss XBMC. Seems best to build a low cost hackintosh as an Apple TV substitute

I love most apple products but this really seems like a large iPhone to me. Some of the new android tablets look way more appealing. Probably gonna hold off for the Dell Mini 5
  6. Yes it will work on a hackintosh. Now all valve needs to do is release HL2: Episode 3 already!!!!!

    USB3 on Mac?

Not sure about desktops but I'm fairly sure some third party company will create a USB 3.0 express card for macbook users. Pretty sure Apple will adopt USB 3.0 though as it seems to be the standard the industry is coming to adopt.
