  1. The drivers are working great and I have hardware acceleration, however I cannot change the resolution when attaching an external monitor via the VGA out or the DVI out on a dock. Does anyone else experience this, or have any solutions?

    BACKUP the F$#ing OSX86 :)

Another vote for SuperDuper. It seems to be one of the only utilities that preserve HFS+ flags correctly.

    Problems Installing

I'm presuming your CPU to be socket 939 and your motherboard is nForce 4 based. SATA is broken for the nForce 4 chipset and will not work. There is a patch available, search in the hardware forum for it but I think it's only applicable after the install; so you will need to install to an IDE drive.
  4. Probably a bad burn. Verify the image's MD5 checksum with the official checksum, try different burners and different media.

    JaS 10.4.8 Install Problems

Boot the install disc with -v (verbose mode) and tell us what you see. List your hardware as well.

    Dell Latitude D620 can Install?

Use the search function. For hardware compatibility you need to check your chipset on the HCL which is on the Wiki.
  7. Thanks, works brilliantly for my Mobility 9600 (0x4e50) on my T42. I now have "real" QE & CI and hardware acceleration; decoding h.264 now works at real time without frame drops! Thanks for your work. Regarding botched installs, it's not always necessary to reformat as long as you've backed up your old kexts. Boot with -s, remove the new files (ATI*, Callisto*, AGPGart* and OpenGL.framework), and restore the old ones.
  8. OK nevermind. I've played about somewhat and it now works. I have no idea what I've done, so I'm afraid I can't help those who stumble upon the same problem, but I will try and test it on a spare HDD. (I do not want to break this install now, everything's finally working.)
  9. Linksys WPC54G v3.1 (Broadcom BCM4318) Problem Description: When trying to scan/select/connect to a network - either by using the AirPort icon in the system tray, Internet Connect or AirPort Setup Assistant - OS X will freeze and I am forced to manually power off. Additional Information The card is detected as "AirPort Extreme (0x14E4, 0x48)" in System Profiler. However it is NOT detected properly by the cardbus icon in the system tray, which reports the card as "Unknown Vendor, Network Controller". Currently using 10.4.8 with semthex's SSE2 8.8.1 kernel. The same problem remains in 10.4.9 with ToH's Universal 8.9.1 kernel. Used bcm43xx_enabler.sh to add the IDs in IO80211Family.kext. Logical Deductions PCMCIA must be working because the card is powered upon boot and a Ralink RT2500 card works fine with drivers. However I cannot use the card as it's faulty. (It intermittently disconnects, and does so in OS X, Win XP and Gentoo Linux on multiple computers.) Could the kexts for the PCMCIA adapter be at fault? It could be in some way incomplete and so only works for some devices; which would explain why the Ralink card works while the Broadcom one does not. I also suspected the AirPort software itself, but that does not explain why Internet Connect crashes OS X as well. --- I'm still new to OSx86 and would appreciate any input to this problem. Thanks for your time.

    Broadcom bcm43xx wireless driver [beta]

The script worked fine, but my Linksys WPC54G (BCM4318) is still detected as "Unknown Vendor, Network Controller". Any attempt to open Airport or find networks using Internet Connect results in freezing the system. I do not think it is the PCMCIA drivers, because when I insert a Belkin card it is correctly detected by Airport as "Ralink, RT2500". I am currently using 10.4.9 and ToH's 8.9.1 kernel, following this path: JaS 10.4.8 SSE2/SSE3/PPF1/PPF2 -> Delta (official) 10.4.9 update -> ToH's SSE2 8.9.1 kernel. System specs are in my signature. Thank you for your time.
  11. Please use the search function before posting questions, or at least look at the stickied threads at the top of the forum. This thread has a list of all the cards/chipsets that work. If your laptop is Intel Centrino compliant, then the internal wireless will not work with OS X. Asus DL-100 does not seem to exist after a search, if it does then find the chipset first, and search in the thread linked above.

    These Hardwares Work?

As far as I can tell, nVidia cards are very well supported in OSx86 so you should be okay; but since I don't own a nVidia card I don't feel qualified to give a definitive answer. You may wish to find out the exact chipset for your wireless adapter and audio adapter, then search for those terms in the forums for answers. This thread has information on all the wireless cards that work under OSx86. I can confirm that my Soundmax Analog Devices AD1981B worked under OSx86, but again you should find out the chipset in yours and check just to make sure. The Marvell Yukon ethernet should work without any problems. Since configurations vary greatly in laptops, the only true way to find what works and what don't is to install it.
  13. I'm presuming you're using either the Tubgirl 10.4.8 AMD SSE3 image, or the just-released JaS 10.4.8 universal image. Both images does NOT work with nForce 4 SATA. You will be able to see it during install and partition it, but after install it will crash and corrupt any data on those drives. My SATA drives were visible during install, but they are not detected in OS X; I wouldn't mind reading only off the drives, so as long as the data is safe and won't corrupt. The only way to install OS X on an nForce 4 system is to install it onto a PATA drive.

    OSX 1048 AMD FINAL

If you do get SAM Multimedia or Still Waiting for Root Device errors, I suggest changing the DVD media, DVD burner, update the firmware and/or the drive you booted from. For some strange uncomprehensible reason, my DVD-RW refused to read the very disc it burned, so I had to add in a backup drive to install OS X. But, it's all working great now.
  15. Strange, I have a nForce 4 SLI chipset with integrated ALC850 and just installed 10.4.8 AMD SSE3 today. Although System Profiler said I did not have any sound devices, I was listening to music through iTunes without any issues. I've had to re-install to try and fix Callisto and CI/QE, so I shall report back later.
