    Restore CDs on any Mac?

Hey guys! I have restore CDs for an iMac (9.2.2 & 10.1.3) & eMac (10.4) and I wanted to know if these could be used on another Mac such as a PowerMac G3 or G4 or something like that... Thanks in Advance, Nick

iOS 4 on other ARM v7 based devices

This is definately a possibility, but it would take a dev team with a decent amount of knowledge in iOS development and how it works.

iOS 4 on other ARM v7 based devices

After doing some research, I think putting iOS onto another device is definitely possible. The Apple A4 chip uses the same ARM v7 instruction sets as the Snapdragon processor so we don't have to worry about that. Isn't iOS just OS X with a different GUI and cpu architecture? This means that we should be able to develop kexts just like on any other OS X install to make all of the device work. Now, I'm not saying this is easy, but I do believe it can be done. Do you think this is possible or am I wrong about all of this?

    10.6.7 Update released

I updated on my AMD machine (using a 10.6.6 Legacy Kernel) and it broke the semi-support for the ATI Radeon HD 4650. This made me mad. I had a perfectly stable AMD hackintosh and now it's stuck at a standard resolution without QE/CI. :/ Anybody know of a fix?
  5. Hey Guys! I have a little problem w/ installing Hazard 10.6.2 Client/Server on my computer... I have gotten everything else working but my SATA/IDE controller. My iAtkos v7 DVD wouldn't recognize any hard drives or controllers, but Hazard recognized just 1 HDD (out of 2) and no DVD drive. I have been booting off an 8GB flash drive (horribly slow) for testing of Graphics/Internet/Audio, but I'm ready for an actual install on an HD. If possible, I would like to install Snow Leopard on an IDE hdd (30GB) because that is what I have lying around (My Windows HDDs are full). Any help is appreciated! Thanks in Advance, Nick Specs: CPU: AMD Phenom II x3 2.8Ghz Mobo: Gigabyte GA-MA78LM-S2 Graphics: ATI Radeon 4650 (Not sure if relevant)

Hey, I have Hazard 10.6.2 installed on my PC and this specific distro has a weird looking "About this Mac". It's a transparent black, which I don't like. If someone with a real mac (Intel with 10.6) or someone who has a retail copy of snow leopard installed could give me a copy of their "LoginWindow.app", I would really appreciate it. Thanks in Advance, Nick

I have the same problem with this... I have no idea where to find the image to swap it out :/ I've upgraded 10.6.6, so that is the only thing "Hazard Related" left on my machine...

Spinning Beach Balls everywhere after 10.6.6 update

Hmm, I'm on 10.6.6 and I haven't noticed anything like that... I have the latest version of flash so I don't know what the difference is :/
  9. Well, when I originally installed OS X on my PC I started with Hazard 10.6.2. The 10.6.2 install had problems for me, but after updates it was much better. The way I updated was I used the 10.6.5 and 10.6.6 combo updates and applied them one at a time. I didn't have problems with audio, graphics (I did have to add my dev id to kexts though), or ethernet. I will remind you that there is no AMD/Legacy kernel for 10.6.6 yet, so you have to download and install the 10.6.5 Legacy kernel from here before you restart after applied the combo updates. If this is unclear or you need more help feel free to PM me. I hope I helped, Nick
  10. Hey Guys! Now that I have successfully created my Hackintosh desktop (Snow Leopard Woot!!), I plan to hackintosh a laptop next. All I want is a cheap Pentium 4 laptop that will be able to run Mac OS X 10.4.8 or newer (I really want at least 10.5 Leopard, but Tiger will do). I want to make this a school laptop so I need it to be able to use the internet over Wi-fi and to be able to install a version of Office for Mac (Hopefully Office 2008, but '04 will do also). My school is 99.5% Macs so having a PC that runs OS X will be awesome! I would like the laptop to be able to be bought on ebay for less than $150 (That's why I specified Pentium 4) Thanks in Advance, Nick
  11. Hey Guys! After Christmas I will have a good chunk of change for upgrading my computer. I have Dual monitors, but with my 4650 I can't use both. Since the iMac has a Radeon 4670 are they compatible without any modifications or enablers? Can I boot in the full res of my monitors? On top of not being able to use dual monitors I have had trouble with things that I think might be gfx card related. Like, Safari crashes during the "Welcome to Safari" animation. Also, iMovie crashes when I try to export anything (even a small mp4 video). I also have problems with screen recording in QuickTime X, because I can't export in the full resolution of my screen it goes to resolution like "700x576". As to the RAM, can I use all 8GB in 10.6.5 because I have read that it doesn't work with more than 4GB in a hackintosh. Also, is the fact that osx detects my RAM as DDR3 instead of DDR2 bad? P.S. When I use the iStat Pro widget under 10.6.2 it double panics and I have to restart. Is this because of my AMD processor? Current Specs: Hazard Snow Leopard 10.6.2/Windows 7 Ultimate x86 AMD Phenom II x3 720 BE @2.8GHz 4GB G.Skill 1066MHz DDR2 RAM Sapphire ATI Radeon HD 4650 512MB (QE/CE, but no dual displays with dev id added to kexts) Future Specs: Mac OS X Snow Leopard 10.6.5 (Hazard 10.6.2 + 10.6.5 Combo Update and 10.6.4 Legacy Kernel) AMD Phenom II x3 720 BE @2.8GHz 8GB (2x4GB) 1066MHz DDR2 RAM XFX ATI Radeon HD 4670 1GB

    Cheap NoteBook for Hackintoshing

Well, I had to format the OS X partition on my Desktop because I screwed up the graphics .kext files... I lost my SL DVD, but I now have it installed again so that is not a problem

What do you guys think about a Dell Inspiron e1505? Is it Snow Leopard compatible? I might be getting one for free soon

(Rumor) Lion might be the next OS X release

Grrr... That just means another OS we have to make work on a PC. haha. Hopefully, it will include support for more standard hardware (Not that Apple wants that though :/).

  18. Hey Guys! I have seen many install SL install guides on the internet that require you to restore the SL Retail disk image to a usb drive. My question is, can it be done in Ubuntu instead? I don't really have access to a Mac to do the restore from, but I do have a working Ubuntu 10.04 install. I have .iso and an 8GB USB drive so I have 2 out of the 3 required things. My computer isn't the most "hackintoshable" system out there, so I need to put some .kexts in the Install DVD/USB Drive. Thanks in Advance, Nick

Awesome Job!! It's a beast! P.S. Do you think you could take a pic of your setup (Desk, Hackintosh, Monitors)??

    Cheap NoteBook for Hackintoshing

Hmm, I like the idea of a Dell netbook, but It's not what I need. I need a DVD drive to install OS X from because I don't have a OS X Machine to copy the DVD to the USB Stick. Can anyone refer me laptop based on the new requirements. Updated Requirements: Mac OS X 10.4.8 or newer Working Wi-fi Working Sound (It's not that big of a deal though :/) All Resolutions (I don't really care about all the fancy enhancements.. This will be used for Word Processing/Internet Browsing) Under $150

    OS X Netbook vs iBook

It comes down to personal preference. Things to take into consideration. - iBook screens are a resolution of 1024x768 while most netbook screens are 1366x768 or 1024x600 - iBooks can only run up to 10.5 Leopard (that's only if you have a 867mhz+ PPC G4), while a netbook can run 10.6 Snow Leopard - iBooks are natively compatible with OS X, but a netbook will most likely require some hacking (Kexts, Bootloaders, etc) :/ - Most netbooks are on the "Intel Platform" which means that you won't have to worry about compatibiliy with programs (such as google chrome which required 10.5 or later and an Intel Processor) - Hackintoshed Laptops/Netbooks get a lot of attention in public - A netbook would be a brand new computer, not one that is 5 years + old - Accessories for a netbook are a lot cheaper than Apple accessories :/ - If I can think of more, I will post them

ATI Radeon HD 4650 Dual Displays?

Hey Guys! I just installed Mac OS X 10.6.2 on my custom PC and I have had trouble running dual monitors... I have a Sapphire ATI Radeon HD 4650 512mb PCIe graphics card that works in OS X w/ a modified .kext and I would like to get my second monitor working... I have searched high and low for an answer, but I seem to get people who "claim" to have gotten it working, but they don't tell you how ANY help at all is appreciated (Besides links to google or lmgtfy.com)! Thanks in Advance, Nick Displays: 1. Acer x183h (1366x768) on VGA 2. Samsung Syncmaster 793mb (1024x768) on DVI>VGA adapter

    About This Mac Crashes

Could you be a little more specific?? What do you mean by "crashes"? Does it just not open or does it cause a kernel panic or does it cause a blue screen to show up and return you to the login screen? What is it?

The first Mac you ever used.

The first Mac I used was an PowerBook G4... As to the oldest I have used, a Tray loading iMac G3
