Thanks LeXa2 for the reminder. And in such a case, we still need to use EmpireEFI to kick of the installation, then do other settings / install necessary kext files (e.g. I have to install the NullCPUPowerManagement kext file for my Intel iCore5-750 system) Only after that we can switch back to VB's EFI. I believe for AMD system, more settings is required... for details, please see my step-by-step guide and FAQs at http://www.takwing.idv.hk/tech/virtual/index.php

for v3.2.x, the Trinitron patch is no longer required. see: http://www.takwing.idv.hk/tech/virtual/vb3...pard/page2.html

I don't run VB under ubuntu... but I think the default should be ok... the major problem is to set the settings for your VM. there are people saying that they can install SL by using VB's EFI directly... but for myself, I have to use Empire EFI first for installation and then later to switch to VB's EFI (for details, u can see my guide)

while u get 2GB RAM.... try to set, say 1GB for the SL VM... this is my wild guess....

Dear all, my previous well-known step-by-step guide for setting up mac os x under virtualbox has been COMPLETELY rewritten for VirtualBox v4.0.0! http://www.takwing.idv.hk/tech/virtual/index.php Wing

@crisj73, up to now, I don't have any clue or idea on your problem.... everything seems fine - your share in host machine is ok - your network settings in mac vm is fine (as you can go to internet and had enable smb in your mac vm) you may try disconnect and connect the virtual network card once via VB's menu option... this is what I did in case I cannot get the internet connection (the mac vm will create a new network for me after doing the "disconnect and connect" action) I will let you know if I get any new idea / suggestions.....

then what happens when you try to connect to smb://10.0.2.2 ? it time out?? and just to double confirm, the share that you have made can be connected by other machine? (I have noted that you said it is configured properly... but I just want to confirm whether the share is working or not). Also, in such a case, I will try to disable the firewall / security software at my PC and see if it helps (I am not saying this is the cause of the problem... but I will just try it... as it is network related).
