  1. Anyone can help me with the display brightness and clarity? Everything in Win 7 just looks sharper and more vivid than in OSX. Is my installation wrong or does anyone else notice this same thing?
  2. This is a GREAT guide. I would recommend the OP to update the guide to include the VoodooPS2 controller from this post it works very well. Update: I have a problem with the VoodooPS2 controller after I enable the two cores. IF I install the above VoodooPS2 kext after enabling the two cores, I get constant kernel panics..
  3. New Intel GMA HD card

Thank you so much for the info. I tried all workarouds regarding Chameleon RC4 and <key>Graphics Mode</key>, but nothing works, it just stays at 1280x1024. I will definintely be looking forward to that release, and some people more knowledgeable than me trying on this new graphic cards.
  4. I don't know what to tell you, I have Win 7 running and have had no issues with it. Maybe you can try to use the install DVD and select the option to repair you computer? Also, keep in mind that my computer has the new i5 CPU, and it uses fairly different components than the previous Studio line which uses core 2 duo. The core 2 duos are, so far, more compatible with OSX.
  5. GMA 4500 - the safest bet for native resolution

IIIIIIIIIIII I believe I have a similar problem. In the Chameleon boot screen, I believe I am seeing correct resolution 1920x1080, but as soon as the Apple screen comes up, it reverts to the wrong resolution. Can you tell me how you made your OSX parttion active?
  6. New Intel GMA HD card

Thanks so much for your reply I'll look into it and report back if I have any progress.
  7. New Intel GMA HD card

I got SL installed on Dell Studio 1558, Board HM55. I got resolution 1280x1024 working by editing com.apple.boot.plist and changing resolution to 1920x1080x32. I can't get native resolution (1920x1080) and/or QE/CI. Is anyone working on this or have any workarounds I can try?
  8. I am dual booting 10.6.0 and Win 7. It wasn't an easy install, as I needed to use two different boot CD's, and other kexts to get stuff working (a full weekend of work). I am having a couple of issues, and need your help! Working: Wifi, Camera, 1280x1024 resolution, mouse/keyboard, bluetooth, battery info on taskbar, sound, (the overall performance of the system is fast!) NOT Working: 1920x1080 resolution, QE/CI, keyboard hot keys, microphone, change screen brightness, sleep This is my system configuration: (See Signature) Please help! and thanks!
  9. [HOW TO] Getting IDT Audio Working

FINALLY got the sound working on my Dell Studio 1558 thanks to this post amazing forum!!
  10. Thanks for the help! I thought it couldn't be fixed
  11. Dual Boot Windows 7 and MacOS X 10.6

The best advice I can give you, is to use this guide: http://tonymacx86.blogspot.com/2009/11/dua...-os-x-snow.html You don't need a working OSX isntall, you can partition the drive from within the Retail OSX DVD right before it starts installing. You will notice that in STEP 1, #10 and #11 you would need a working install of OSX, but I didn't have one (so I skipped these steps) and everything works GREAT.
  12. I am succesfully Dual booting Win 7 Ultimate 64bit Retail and Snow Leopard 10.6.0 Retail I followed this guide. http://tonymacx86.blogspot.com/2009/11/dua...-os-x-snow.html The only thing I did differently, was that in STEP 1: I did not do #10 and #11, beacuse I did not have a working OSX install to partition the drive ( I partitiones it from within the booted Retail DVD), and it worked fine.
  13. i3 330m Dell Inspiron 1564

Hi all. I succesfully instaled 10.6.0 on a Dell Studio 1558 (i5- 520M processor). As soon as I get permissions (5 posts) to start a topic, I will start one with a detailed explanation of how I got it working (it wasn't easy AT ALL!). I needed to use components from two different boot CD's to get it working. The only issues I still can't iron out are: Resolution (got it up to 1280x1024 but not the native 1920x1080), microphone, QE/CI, I can't properly use the hotkeys for some commands and adjusting screen brightness. BTW, I have the Intel GMA HD card so my guide will be of lots of help. I will post it soon probably today or tomorrow.
