  1. Compaq SR1110NX

I got OSX running on my girlfriend's old Dell! It works fine, but the computer is old and does a mediocre job of running OSX. I was given a free Compaq SR1110NX that I'd like to replace it with- It isn't much newer, but it's newer. Is it possible to get things happening on this computer? How can you determine which OSx86 build is required for a specific machine?
  2. OSx86 on Compaq SR1110NX

Bump! I've got one of these proud beasts as well and was hoping it could run osx a touch faster than my girlfriend's old Dell. How do you deduce what build is needed for a specific machine? Is this old guy even compatible?
  3. Linksys WUSB600n v2 - help me be like you

Does it sound like I have a defective adapter? Should I exchange this before my return period is up? If anyone could chime in I'd really, really appreciate it!
  4. Linksys WUSB600n v2 - help me be like you

    Bump? Anyone?
  5. I've read everything I can on this topic and things still aren't working out for me. Someone please help give me some guidance! I have an older Dell running 10.5. I also have a Linksys WUSB600n v2 wireless adapter. I downloaded the Ralink drivers off of their website and installed the ones in the 10.5 folder. I edited the single .plist file, and changed "112" to "121" in the spot I'm supposed to. I tried both KextUtility as well as the string of terminal commands that people say to use, restarting after each. When I plug in the dongle, the blue LED lights, and the Ralink Wireless Utility pops open immediately. Success, right?! WRONG! The program says "No Device!!" and after about 2 seconds, that turns to "Disconnected." and the program closes. In my Network prefs, it shows the device as "USB Ethernet Device (en2)" and says that I have unplugged a cable from it. The USB panel in System Profiler calls it a Linksys WUSB600n v2. I can tell I'm close, maybe something needs to be tweaked in the network panel, i don't know. Please, if anyone can catch whatever step I missed, fill me in!!
  6. Linksys WUSB600N working flawlessly

I'm about ready to pull my hair out. I have a v2 dongle. Downloaded the drivers off the Ralink site. Edited the line in the .plist file to read "121" instead of "112" or "113" or whichever one was there to begin with. Ran KextUtility, rebooted, tried all the terminal commands listed originally, rebooted, and any combination of these... what happens? I plug in the dongle. Blue LED lights on the dongle. Ralink wireless utility pops up immediately, says, "No Device!!" which, after a couple seconds, turns to "Disconnected" and the program closes. In my Network control panel, it shows a USB ethernet device (en2) and says that a cable is unplugged from it. I've read this thread several times and don't see an answer to this scenario, but I'm sure it's out there somewhere. Can someone PLEASE help me get my Dellintosh to work???
  7. intel 865g ATA kext?

Haha, yeah, it's the only ethernet card I could find that wasn't being used
  8. intel 865g ATA kext?

So that RTL8029 is using a Novell NE2000 chipset. After a fair bit of searching, i can't find a driver or kext for these cards anywhere. Anyone know if I'm missing something?
  9. intel 865g ATA kext?

Awesome, it works! It does seem to be a little shaky, sometimes I have to click on links twice and stuff, I might try getting the realtek card up and running too. Thanks so much for your help!!! I have a fully functional hackintosh, finally.

I also have some old pci network card in there that I installed a while back, hoping it'd magically be recognized by OS X... but it wasn't either. I know tons of other people haven't had a problem with the onboard ethernet!
  11. intel 865g ATA kext?

Awesome! That fixed my DVD drive issue! What do I need to get my onboard networking to wake up?
  12. intel 865g ATA kext?

Hey guys, I'm running a Dell Optiplex GX270, Intel 865g chipset. I have an ATA hdd and DVD drive, and the DVD drive isn't recognized by the system. What kext am I going to need to get this to work? I also can't get the onboard network to work... both of these problems seem non-existent to everyone else who's installed OSX on this computer, so I'm assuming I clicked a wrong box on installation... Please help!
  13. Leopard 10.5.5(iATKOS 5i) Dell OptiPlex GX270

{censored}. I definitely don't have any extra sata drives floating around. I'm trying as hard as possible to make this whole project happen for $0. Is there any way to configure IDE cables and jumpers to get the DVD Rom up and running? Also, what's the deal with my flash drive not working? An iPod in disk mode mounts beautifully.
  14. Leopard 10.5.5(iATKOS 5i) Dell OptiPlex GX270

Alright, so step one is figuring out how to make the computer mount CDs. I'm not using the stock dell drive anymore... but it won't load CDs. I'm assuming there's some driver I need to install somewhere... Here's to hoping my flash drive will work. aaaand..... nope. No flash drive. So how do I get drivers installed on this machine? Do I need to reinstall OSX with more {censored} selected than what was listed in the OP of this thread?
