  1. Geforce GTS 250 low fps?

I have the same problem with a GTS 250M with 1gig vram. I'm getting about 7 FPS in Cinebench, and OpenGL Extensions viewer says OpenGL 3.0 and 3.1 are unsupported (idk if this is normal or not). I can run 1080p video in both full screen and window with no choppiness, but as soon as I try to fire up a game like Star Wars the Force Unleashed, at any resolution, its so choppy that its unplayable. I've tried replacing the PowerManagement kext, it didn't help. I'm using the NVEnabler 64 method currently. Is there a better option?

I have the same problem. Good luck getting a response. Apparently the other folks on this forum either don't know or are unwilling to help. I have the same problem. Good luck getting a response. Apparently the other folks on this forum either don't know or are unwilling to help.
  3. SL on P5P43TD USB3

Love the forum help... for anyone else that has this problem, here's what I did: After installing, reboot in single user mode and rm -r AppleTyMCE.kext from /System/Library/Extensions Reboot Go through initial setup of user name and such Reboot in safe mode (-x) Install 10.6.6 combo update from a flash drive or something (Not software update) After install completes, do NOT reboot, open finder and again delete AppleTyMCE.kext AND SleepEnabler.kext from /System/Library/Extensions Reboot Enjoy OSX
  4. GTS250M and games?

I'm running an Acer Aspire 8940G with a core i7 720QM, 8 gigs of DDR3 memory, and an NVIDIA GTS250M video card with 1 gigs of graphics mem. I've got QE working, and the Cuda driver installed. System Info recognizes my card and the amount of memory it has. I feel like i shouldn't have a problem running a 2 year old game like star wars the force unleashed at high resolutions, but I can't even get it working decently at 640*480. Am I doing something wrong/missing a kext?
  5. SL on P5P43TD USB3

I'm trying to install hazard on an Asus P5P43TDUSB3 with a Q8400 CPU and an EN8400GS Silent Video Card. I've got through the install by disabling USB3 and APIC in the BIOS. After rebooting, if I don't re-enable APIC I get nowhere. Re-enabling APIC gets me most of the way through the boot process but eventually gets to a kernel panic calling out ACPI_SMC_PlatformPlugin failed to set c-state demotion data Searching this comes back a lot of options but I don't know how to make heads or tales out of what to try or not try. Can someone point me in the right direction? The only options I selected in the install per the P5P43TD Pro install guide was 10.6.2 update, NVEnabler kext, and PC EFI 10.3. There were BIOS options posted at one time in the old guide, but the link to the images are no longer valid
  6. I have 10.6.6 running on this bad boy thanks to Tarquinn's ISO. 2 channel audio works, but this unit has 5.1 surround sound (5 speakers and a sub) built into it. I'm looking for some help, or at least a push in the right direction making 5.1 work. In Audio settings, all the multichannel options are grayed out, and I cannot create an aggregate device to handle the extra channels. Do I need to do a codec dump or something to find out what the other pinouts are? And if I do, is there someone who can help me use those dumps to make it functional? I'm kind of an OSX n00b but really good with Ubuntu and Win7.
  7. SL on Acer 8940G

Do you have the link for the iso yet? Tony

Posting the kexts you are using would help me out a ton! Thanks Tarquin.
  9. SL on Acer 8940G

Got SL 10.6.2 running on my Acer Aspire 8940g, specs are listed in my sig. Running into a few things I would like to get clarified. I've done some searching but I'm a n00b when it comes to OSX and some steps in the right direction would be great. First, foremost, and most important, I'm occasionally getting a red screen of death. I will be surfing the web. Over the course of a minute or two, the mouse will start to stutter and catch a few times, then the screen will turn bright red and the whole laptop is locked up. Have to hold power button for 4 seconds to kill power. At first, I thought it was related to the Wifi card, but I replaced the Dell DW1390 with another Broadcom G card, and the problem persists, although it seems it MAY be less frequent. BCM5764 intergrated gigabit LAN is not working. I've tried a few kexts, but it doesn't give me an interface to work with. Would LOVE if I could get hardwired LAN working. I've also noticed that no matter what internal wifi card I'm using, the wifi will suddenly drop out after a random period of use and tell me there are no wireless networks available. Seems this happens with heavy internet usage, like downloading a torrent in Vuze. As I'm unable to get wired LAN working yet, wifi is pretty important to me so help there would be much appreciated. If I recall correctly, I had a battery indicator in the tray right after I installed, but it has disappeared now and energy saver tells me I have no battery installed (or that its always at 0%). I would like to be able to enable the 5.1 surround sound that the 8940 has built in, but it seems like an aggregrated device in audio midi doesn't quite do it. Is there a way to get all my speakers working in OS X? HDMI out is not working. Not a huge priority, but would be nice to get it working. Scroll on the trackpad is not working. SD Card reader is not working. Trying to install office 2008 gives me the spinning pinwheel not only in installer, but in finder also, usually forcing me to reboot. One thing I'm also puzzled about, if I boot from the empire EFI disc, I can run lspci and get all my devices listed. If I boot from HDD with chameleon installed, and try to run lspci, it tells me there is no working method, which leads me to believe I'm missing an important chipset driver, but again, I'm a noob. I copied everything from the Empire Disc's preboot.dmg/extra/extensions folders to /Extras/Extensions, EXCEPT the AppleRTC, because if I copy that it won't allow me to boot. I also used mach_kernel, smbios, and just about everything else from Empire EFI, but still cannot get lspci to work. Please help! Would love to have a fully running SL Distro on my 8940!
  10. GeForce 200 series support

Any way to get HDMI out working on a GTS 250M?
  11. ALC883 finally 5.1 sound !

Any way to get 5.1 sound out of a laptop that has 5 built in speakers with something like this?
  12. Great find. Going to test now. Thanks!
  13. [SEARCH] Broadcom Gigabit Ethernet BCM5764

I've finally got Snow Leopard installed and most items working, full resolution and QE, sound, wifi (different card) But I have 3 problems The first, my SD card reader doesn't work Second, my ethernet doesn't work. I've tried the attached kext but it doesn't give me an interface. Third, and most troubling. After surfing the web for some time on the 8940, the mouse will stutter a few times over a few minutes. Then, the screen will turn completely red and the laptop freezes. If nothing else, please help me with the last one. Thanks so much!!
