  1. When I issue a shutdown in OSX (to turn off the computer purposely), the Z820 shuts down fully, but then turns back on again, and boot up. Do you guys have this issue? Could it be the BIOS setting. I looked all over.
  2. I had a weird situation, after running great for a while: yesterday I did a reboot and got a KP. Turns out the AstekFusion2Adapter kexts were causing the KP, strange thing is I didn't recall applying any update or a like. I had to boot with the USB installer, mount the EFI partition to delete the old AstekFusion2Adapter kexts and replaced with the patched version contributed by despeinao. I'm glad the system is working again, not having to reinstall OSX.
  3. I have a Z820 and the same E5 2670v1 dual cpus. I generated the power management according to this guide. I initially had problem with ssdtPRGen giving me errors, it works when i added "-target 0" flag to the command line, which forces the script to generating for Sandy Bridge. Only difference is I'm running an AMD RX480, I didn't have to do anything, since it works out of the box. ./ssdtPRGen.sh -p E5-2670 -target 0 -b Mac-F60DEB81FF30ACF6 -c 3 -x 1 -cpus 2 -l 32
  4. The download button didn't work on my MacBook, but I managed to download 10.12.6 with a different MacBook. It might be because I already have Sierra on there. It sounds like a bad motherboard. Maybe reseat all the RAM and power supply to the board.
  5. 10.12.6 is no longer available for download, Apple took it out, only High Sierra now.
  6. I'm going to give this another go, fresh install and keep a closer eye on which part that causes the panic dialog to appear. Does anyone have a link to download the 10.12.6 ?
  7. It's so weird. I used a fresh SSD drive, that never had an installation before. I wonder if it has to do with me started with Sierra 10.12.3 installer, and apply updates to 10.12.6; because I the app store don't have the option for me to download 10.12.6. I will try a few things, and try to track down the source of that panic dialog, it's annoying---and for peace of mind.
  8. @Bilbo: 1) After logging in, a dialog pop up, and I click on "Report" button to see the log of problem. 2) Only one HD: Samsung SSD. It's only drive in the system to boot on. UPDATE: I got the performance to jump to Single-Core Score: 3007; Multi-Core Score: 28548. What I did: Redownload [ Dual CPU.dmg.zip ] and copied "SSDT-1.aml" (from Files/Step 4) to EFI/CLOVER/ACPI/patched/. This SSDT-1.aml file that affect the performance. On the otherhand, the panic notice is still popping up after login. Will do stress test and see how rock solid stable it is.
  9. @amadeusex That's awesome, thanks in advance!! My score in El Capitan was around there. I use an external USB audio interface for video editing and El Capitan drops it once in a while, it's annoying. Sierra doesn't drop the USB audio interface, but a weird drop in performance, could be something I'm doing wrong.
  10. @Cass67: Yep it's weird. Clover SMBIOS has "6.1". nullcpupowermgmt isn't in /S/L/E @will move applealc over to /other. seems my system is not liking [ com.astekcorp.driver.AstekFusion2Family(2.62) ] Otherwise it's running stable, no random crash. I need to get the performance up, though.
  11. Yes, RC scripts was selected to install on the internal HD. System Report shows two cpus. Does HWMonitor showing CPU x## normal?
  12. Bilbo: cpus=1 flag isn't selected in Clover > Boot tab. I don't know why the panic alert shows that. I'll recopy/replace the current VoodooTSCSync.kext and see. About sleep: both system and monitor sleeps and wake up, no problem. I didn't make any changes outside of this guide. Edit: The report shows NullCPUPowerManagement, but I did not load that, that's weird.
  13. Got some time to run through the Sierra upgrade on my Z820 I am running the v1 E5-2670 (dual cpu), with AMD HD Radeon 7970; the graphic card works out of the box, no tweaking/hacking needed. For some reason my network adapter would not detect with the kext in this guide, I had to use AppleIntelE1000e.kext instead. Sleep is working, and PM is too. I ran Geekbench, and single-Core score is 2762, and Multi-Core score is 18836 --that seems low for dual CPU system. How do I check to see if two CPU are working together? One issue I have is after logging in, I get a Panic report that pops up. I am still figuring out what it is that causes the boot flag CPUS=1 in that Panic report: Anonymous UUID: 5C0B4D98-1F67-EA24-7251-9134AAE4517B Thu Mar 1 10:27:10 2018 *** Panic Report *** panic(cpu 0 caller 0xffffff8018805ead): Kernel trap at 0xffffff7f9d86d70a, type 14=page fault, registers: CR0: 0x000000008001003b, CR2: 0xfffffe96a820bc0f, CR3: 0x0000000027237000, CR4: 0x00000000000626e0 RAX: 0x0000000000000051, RBX: 0xffffff8018f1b988, RCX: 0x0000000000000000, RDX: 0xffffff87827b8088 RSP: 0xffffff87a329bb40, RBP: 0xffffff87a329be00, RSI: 0xffffff87827b8068, RDI: 0xffffff87827b8088 R8: 0x00000000edabc0c7, R9: 0xffffff810c4ed720, R10: 0x0000000000000000, R11: 0xffffff8018e8a810 R12: 0xffffff810d5a7f60, R13: 0xffffff810d5a5000, R14: 0xffffff810d41c680, R15: 0xffffff810d4ad000 RFL: 0x0000000000010206, RIP: 0xffffff7f9d86d70a, CS: 0x0000000000000008, SS: 0x0000000000000000 Fault CR2: 0xfffffe96a820bc0f, Error code: 0x0000000000000002, Fault CPU: 0x0, PL: 0, VF: 1 Backtrace (CPU 0), Frame : Return Address 0xffffff87a329b7d0 : 0xffffff80186f211c 0xffffff87a329b850 : 0xffffff8018805ead 0xffffff87a329ba30 : 0xffffff80186a3743 0xffffff87a329ba50 : 0xffffff7f9d86d70a 0xffffff87a329be00 : 0xffffff7f996b0046 0xffffff87a329be40 : 0xffffff8018c9949d 0xffffff87a329be80 : 0xffffff8018c991ee 0xffffff87a329bf10 : 0xffffff8018c987a6 0xffffff87a329bf60 : 0xffffff8018c9a1be 0xffffff87a329bfb0 : 0xffffff80186a0af7 Kernel Extensions in backtrace: com.apple.iokit.IOSCSIParallelFamily(3.0)[52F1A21B-F265-3D00-8F29-FC5E2B4069BD]@0xffffff7f996af000->0xffffff7f996c0fff dependency: com.apple.iokit.IOSCSIArchitectureModelFamily(394.30.2)[743A75F4-33AA-3396-B06B-504C86028712]@0xffffff7f990b8000 com.astekcorp.driver.AstekFusion2Family(2.62)[71010D3C-ACA8-38E2-9927-58AB5E9FFE7C]@0xffffff7f9d859000->0xffffff7f9d898fff dependency: com.apple.iokit.IOPCIFamily(2.9)[6F8D3ACB-27CB-3B57-9E06-53E377762F5C]@0xffffff7f98faa000 dependency: com.apple.iokit.IOSCSIParallelFamily(3.0.0)[52F1A21B-F265-3D00-8F29-FC5E2B4069BD]@0xffffff7f996af000 BSD process name corresponding to current thread: kernel_task Boot args: -v npci=0x2000 cpus=1 "Kernel=/System/Library/Kernels/kernel" Mac OS version: Not yet set Kernel version: Darwin Kernel Version 16.3.0: Thu Nov 17 20:23:58 PST 2016; 14. Excellent!! I'm still on El Capitan, I will give this Sierra upgrade a go. Thanks
  15. Excellent guide bilbo! I am piecing together a HP Z820 + 2xE5-2680 (V1) for video production. I am looking forward to hackintosh this Z workstation.
