Is it ok to do 2007-009 Security update

I installed the update without any problems..
  2. I can confirm the Highpoint 2320 SATA RAID5 card is working in OSx86. I'm using 10.4.8 JaS and the drivers from there website. My 2TB NTFS array is being detected but on default some files were seem to be missing. I using MacFUSE and NTFS-3G to fix this issue.
  3. For some reason I can't get this to work, this is my situation: I have one (laptop) HDD which is 40GB. I first installed WindowsXP on a 10GB NTFS partition. In Windows I created a 10GB FAT32 partition. I started the OSX installation, formatted the FAT32 drive as HFS+. Everything install fine, but when I reboot Windows automaticly boots up. So I changed the HFS+ partition to be the active one. When my laptop boots up, I get a "Error loading operating system", which is most likely caused by my BIOS (I don't think this is a Darwin error). So I reinstalled OSX. Formatted the drive again as HFS+. In the setup I opened up Terminal to mark the partition as being the active one and continued the installation. After that, a reboot gives me the same message. "Error loading operating system". So I did another reinstall, but this time I made sure the partition was the active one all the way. In Windows I deleted the partition and created a new one (didn't format it). I marked it as being the active partition and started the OSX installation. Formatted the drive as HFS+. Still the same error. Since Windows is just booting fine I tried the CHAIN0 method. I copied the CHAIN0 file from the OSX DVD to C:\ and added the line "c:\CHAIN0="Apple Mac OS X x86"" to my boot.ini. When I choose this option at boot, I see a '/'-symbol for about 0.3s and then it returns to the boot screen, asking me (again) to choose Apple Mac OS X x86 or Windows. I can't seem to find a way to make dual boot work. Anyone got some suggestions? I'm near desperation. I'm using the 10.4.6 install dvd.

    Intel 845GL Graphics, need files

You should ask kaiwei. He got it working with his 855. He said he made some modifications to a file, allthough i dont quite understand what he did exactly.

    Intel 845GL Graphics, need files

AppleIntelIntegrated.kext was included in the bender/br0adband DVD, i didn't touch the file, its still there. These files where included in the deadmoo dvd image. There normal drivers which came originally from the Darwin 8.1. I didn;t modify the drivers in any way. In the bender/br0adband DVD, they removed this driver for some reason. When i installed this dvd, i noticed that my QE support has went away. So I uploaded these drivers which can enable them again. I think it will work on your 845 GPU, as it did worked on mine. I've noticed Expose (you know, the F9/F10/F11 buttons) is reacting faster and runs smoother with QE enabled. Also, the RSS Visualizer screen saver works now (it requires QE). So yes, video runs faster Allthough i didn't notice any big differences in XBench. The only thing ive noticed with QE enabled is that i get some errors in my console log when the RSS Visualizer is running: 2005-09-07 23:41:48.976 ScreenSaverEngine[470] *** <QCOpenGLContext = 0x003BD570 | renderer = Intel i830/i845 Engine (1.2 APPLE-1.4.0)>: Quartz Composer requires "GL_EXT_texture_rectangle" and "GL_APPLE_pixel_buffer" to be supported However, my system is running stable as hell, even with these errors. Also, i see no glitches/artifacts whatsoever. RSS Visualizer is looking fine, too.

    Intel 845GL Graphics, need files

Seems WinAce doesn't like rarrring...I made a new zip, which can be found here: http://www.xs4all.nl/~bertwill/osx86/kext.zip This one should work (tested) Don't know if this driver will work on the 865G. Please test it and let me know! It won't do any harm to your system. If the driver doesn't support your GPU, OSX will just leave the kext alone

    Intel 845GL Graphics, need files

Seems it works! I tried the files from the Darwin ISO, and it works like a charme now with Quartz Extreme enabled. I uploaded the file, which can be found here: http://www.xs4all.nl/~bertwill/osx86/kext.zip To install: Unrar the files and navigate to them via your Terminal. move the files like this: sudo mv * /System/Library/Extensions/ sudo chown -R root:wheel /System/Library/Extensions/AppleIntel830.kext sudo chown -R root:wheel /System/Library/Extensions/AppleIntel830GA.plugin sudo chown -R root:wheel /System/Library/Extensions/AppleIntel830GLDriver.bundle sudo kextload /System/Library/Extensions/AppleIntel830.kext Reboot and Quartz Extreme should be working fine again. Remember: I tried it succesfully on a Intel 845GL Graphics chips. I suspect it will work on any Intel 8xx GPU, but i'm not sure. At least it won't do you any harm.

    Intel 845GL Graphics, need files

Since i'm using the bender/broadband DVD, i've lost my Quartz Extreme support for my Intel 845GL Graphics chip. I'm suspecting it has something to do with some files who are missing in the DVD, which were on the deadmoo img. If someone can put this files online, i can test if my Quartz Extreme is working again. There are 3 files i need from the deadmoo img, all in the folder /System/Library/Extensions/: AppleIntel830GLDriver.bundle AppleIntel830.kext AppleIntel830GA.plugin Can someone upload these files somewhere? If this is working, i think all Intel 8xx might get Quartz Extreme support back with the bender/broadband DVD. Thanks in advanced!

    Sidetrack

Sidetrack (http://www.ragingmenace.com/software/sidetrack/) is an extremely helpfull tool to get the best out of your touch-pad. See the site for all the details. I tried it, but it won't start on my OSx86 Laptop (Acer Travelmate 233LC). Has anyone got this application to work or got an alternative?
  10. Okay, i puzzled some more and found some interesting things. At first i couldn't connect to any network using Airport, allthought everything else seemed fine (Airport configured and on, card shows up). The problem of not finding any networks is because of platform=pcx86 i believe. When i booted using platform=ACPI everything worked fine, allthough my system is damn slow. Also, when i boot using platform=pcx86 the system runs fast, untill i open up Airport to search for networks. At that point, kernel_task shoots up to 80% CPU time, making my system extremely slow. When i disabled Airport, kernel_task returns to its normal 0.5% CPU time. Are there people who were able to get this driver working with the platform=osx86 command? How is your experience? Edit: Got it fixed by removing the AppleTPMACPI file. Everything is working smooth and wireless now Bottomline is: If your wireless is working fine, but you can't connect to any networks: Try booting your pc without the platform=pcx86 and use the platform=ACPI line
  11. Installing and loading went just fine here, but i cant seem to connect to any network (it doesn't find any too). I tried using the Linksys WPC54G ver1.2 and the Belkin F5D7010. Airport sees the cards, with there correct (almost correct, only the last digit is different) MAC-addresses as well. When i try to connect to my network manually I get the error msg "There was an error joining the Airport network "Mulder". Obviously Mulder isn't an "Airport" network, it's just my Linksys AP. Ive noticed there are more people here with the same problem. Has anyone of those people got it working yet?

    Air Port Card?

Okay, both the rights and the ownership is set correctly. OSX isn't complaining about the file anymore, thanks! However, it doesn't do any good. Still OSX doesn't recognise the card as an Airport adapter. The card still shows up in the top menu (Finder) and System Profiler sees the PC Card. Both ifconfig and Airport won't recognise the card. The only thing different with this file (the AppleAirport2.kext from the Darwin x86 iso) is that it makes the "Airport Setup Assistent" crash after it says there isn't any Airport card found.

    Air Port Card?

I tried to install the AppleAirport2.kext from the Darwin-x86 iso, but OSX doesn't want the file. It start complaining about the file being improperly installed. I chmod'ed the file to 755, that didn't work out either.

    Air Port Card?

I did some research too. I've got a Linksys WPC54G PCMCIA wireless card. This card is almost identical to the Airport Cards, because they both use the Broadcom chipset. System Profiler identifies it as pci14e4,4320. I also see a the card in the top menu at finder, as "Broadcom 802.11b Cardbus". Still, Airport and ifconfig dont recognise the card. I've looked into /System/Library/Extensions/AppleAirport2.kext/Content/Info.plist, where the same ID show up, pci14e4,4320. So the Airport kext hás support for the card, we only need the find a way to make it work. Maybe its because PPC drivers wont work on x86 machines. Allthough i got Rosetta working on my SSE2, still the driver doesn't do the job.
