1. updated kext is in first post? Found out where ethernet dies. In the first rebot after installation, right after MSDOS has arrived the bluetooth controller is initialised, I get a warning about the possibly unsupported CPU and powermanagement and the AppleIntelE1000e link is established at 1000Mb/s full duplex Rx/Tx. Both leds on the NIC port are on until I start going through the setup pages. The network page pops up an error and tells me it doesn't seem to be connected to the network. So what happened to it? It shows up in the post as established. Did the network wizard kill it?
2. I think you are right, the NIC ever gets activated, but I don't know enough to find the problem. This is what I get at the end of the post - Waiting for DSMOS... macx_swapon SUCCESS Previous shutdown cause :3 DSMOS has arrived -->> right here is where the link initializes on the X58A-UD7<<-- Warning: IOPlatformPluginUtil: get CPUIDInfo: this is an unknown cpu -- power management may be incomplete or unsupportd Sound Assertion in AppleHDACodecGeneris at line 350 and then it blackscreens and the desktop opens up.
3. Not so far as i can see from the verbose boot. Just that one change to the MTU and it passes on to other things. There are messages in the console, however. Here is the enire console boot log if that will help. 9/11/12 6:16:46.000 PM bootlog[0]: BOOT_TIME 1347405406 0 9/11/12 6:16:56.000 PM kernel[0]: PMAP: PCID enabled 9/11/12 6:16:56.000 PM kernel[0]: PMAP: Supervisor Mode Execute Protection enabled 9/11/12 6:16:56.000 PM kernel[0]: Darwin Kernel Version 12.0.0: Sun Jun 24 23:00:16 PDT 2012; root:xnu-2050.7.9~1/RELEASE_X86_64 9/11/12 6:16:56.000 PM kernel[0]: vm_page_bootstrap: 2002893 free pages and 77875 wired pages 9/11/12 6:16:56.000 PM kernel[0]: kext submap [0xffffff7f8073e000 - 0xffffff8000000000], kernel text [0xffffff8000200000 - 0xffffff800073e000] 9/11/12 6:16:56.000 PM kernel[0]: zone leak detection enabled 9/11/12 6:16:56.000 PM kernel[0]: standard timeslicing quantum is 10000 us 9/11/12 6:16:56.000 PM kernel[0]: standard background quantum is 2500 us 9/11/12 6:16:56.000 PM kernel[0]: mig_table_max_displ = 74 9/11/12 6:16:56.000 PM kernel[0]: TSC Deadline Timer supported and enabled 9/11/12 6:16:56.000 PM kernel[0]: corecrypto kext started! 9/11/12 6:16:56.000 PM kernel[0]: Running kernel space in FIPS MODE 9/11/12 6:16:56.000 PM kernel[0]: Plist hmac value is 735d392b68241ef173d81097b1c8ce9ba283521626d1c973ac376838c466757d 9/11/12 6:16:56.000 PM kernel[0]: Computed hmac value is 735d392b68241ef173d81097b1c8ce9ba283521626d1c973ac376838c466757d 9/11/12 6:16:56.000 PM kernel[0]: corecrypto.kext FIPS integrity POST test passed! 9/11/12 6:16:56.000 PM kernel[0]: corecrypto.kext FIPS AES CBC POST test passed! 9/11/12 6:16:56.000 PM kernel[0]: corecrypto.kext FIPS TDES CBC POST test passed! 9/11/12 6:16:56.000 PM kernel[0]: corecrypto.kext FIPS AES ECB AESNI POST test passed! 9/11/12 6:16:56.000 PM kernel[0]: corecrypto.kext FIPS AES XTS AESNI POST test passed! 9/11/12 6:16:56.000 PM kernel[0]: corecrypto.kext FIPS SHA POST test passed! 9/11/12 6:16:56.000 PM kernel[0]: corecrypto.kext FIPS HMAC POST test passed! 9/11/12 6:16:56.000 PM kernel[0]: corecrypto.kext FIPS ECDSA POST test passed! 9/11/12 6:16:56.000 PM kernel[0]: corecrypto.kext FIPS DRBG POST test passed! 9/11/12 6:16:56.000 PM kernel[0]: corecrypto.kext FIPS POST passed! 9/11/12 6:16:56.000 PM kernel[0]: IntelCPUMonitor: Based on code by mercurysquad, superhai ©2008 9/11/12 6:16:56.000 PM kernel[0]: User defined TjMax=0 9/11/12 6:16:56.000 PM kernel[0]: AppleACPICPU: ProcessorId=1 LocalApicId=0 Enabled 9/11/12 6:16:56.000 PM kernel[0]: AppleACPICPU: ProcessorId=2 LocalApicId=2 Enabled 9/11/12 6:16:56.000 PM kernel[0]: AppleACPICPU: ProcessorId=3 LocalApicId=4 Enabled 9/11/12 6:16:56.000 PM kernel[0]: AppleACPICPU: ProcessorId=4 LocalApicId=6 Enabled 9/11/12 6:16:56.000 PM kernel[0]: calling mpo_policy_init for TMSafetyNet 9/11/12 6:16:56.000 PM kernel[0]: Security policy loaded: Safety net for Time Machine (TMSafetyNet) 9/11/12 6:16:56.000 PM kernel[0]: calling mpo_policy_init for Sandbox 9/11/12 6:16:56.000 PM kernel[0]: Security policy loaded: Seatbelt sandbox policy (Sandbox) 9/11/12 6:16:56.000 PM kernel[0]: calling mpo_policy_init for Quarantine 9/11/12 6:16:56.000 PM kernel[0]: Security policy loaded: Quarantine policy (Quarantine) 9/11/12 6:16:56.000 PM kernel[0]: Copyright © 1982, 1986, 1989, 1991, 1993 9/11/12 6:16:56.000 PM kernel[0]: The Regents of the University of California. 4. Just tried it on the MSI Z77A-GD65 with a core i5 3570K running 10.8.1. No joy. The About this Mac System report doesn't show anything in the Networking but a Firewire - doesn't even show the onboard NIC. Strangely enough, on power on and during the first part of the boot I have an orange light on the RJ45 connector. Watching the boot carefully, when AppleIntelE10003 (info): changing MTU from 0 to 1500 appears, the light goes out. No network available. Is there something else I need? Has to be the driver, because PC-BSD Isotope and Ubuntu both give me 2 orange lights indicating Gigabit ethernet.
5. Hey, Cartri You may be on to something here. Just did a clean install of 10.7 with tonymacx86 database dsdt for GA-X58A-UD7 Rev.1.0 F7 dsdt. Am having problem that it will go to sleep and wake, but no graphics on wake so have to hard power off and reboot. Getting this CMOS reset problem so went looking and found this thread. Was going to try the fixes you suggest one by one and see if any of them worked. Made the one change to DSDT from database - same as above to add _FIX. Compiled no erros. Replaced DSDT.aml in /Extra with compiled file and hit apple -> sleep. Rig went to sleep, no problem. Waited a few minutes and hit the left mouse button. Disc spun up, DVD-RW lights came on but still no graphics (I know, but that's for another topic). Still, hard power off at the surge supressor. Power back on, hit the start button and normal boot - no CMOS reset! I have attached 3 DSDT files - one extracted with DSDTSE for winXP with the iasleme file replaced with latest so it will work in Win7, one from tonymac86 dsdt database I used on original install and the last with the _FIX. That was all I did to it. GA_X58A_UD7_DSDT.zip
6. Due to requests from many people who were not able to get the cd method to work, mrjanek has resurrected the USB method in Kakewalk v3.1 http://www.kakewalk.se/
7. I ran into the same problem - Win7 was always +5 hours from local clock time. In order to get them to agree you need to edit the Windows registry. Click on the Start button and then in the search box type: regedit and hit enter. Navigate down to: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE SYSTEM CurrentControlSet Control TimeZoneInformation right click in the right pane and select new dword. Name it RealTimeIsUniversal exactly as I have typed it with no spaces and caps as first letter of each word (it is case sensitive) Then set the value of the dword to 1 Save and exit. Shut down. Boot into OS X. Check your clock setting - reset if required. Reboot into Win7 and check your clock - it should read correctly now.
8. Do you have another drive? It is really better to use separate drives. That being said, if you can borrow a drive to clone your existing drive to temporarily and install the bootloader to it, then there is a tutorial here: http://tonymacx86.blogspot.com/2009/11/dua...-os-x-snow.html to show you how to install both on the same drive. Once you get the partitioning set up and Windows installed, clone your install back to your HD and install the bootloader (or just re-install from scratch) and you should be up and running on a dual boot. You need to re-install the 10.6.2 AppleHDA.kext in S/L/E
9. Kakewalk will only work on GigaByte motherboards - which P55 board do you have? Is it the one listed on page one of this thread? If not, you might try tonymacx86's #####+##### and check his DSDT listing to see if your board is listed there. http://tonymacx86.blogspot.com/2010/04/ibo...ac-os-x-on.html You might also visit the forum (use button on above site page) and look at the preinstall user builds to see what other people have attempted to install on.
10. Hard disks work in them, they just don't work at 6Gb/s in OS X, and the driver just says Unknown AHCI Standard Controller Marvell Virtuall in profiler Been watching the price on these - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...6-557-_-Product and when it comes down to at least half what it is now, I will get 2 to use the Marvell ports. If SL doesn't have SATA III support by then, I'll probably format them NTFS and use them strictly with Win7.
11. It shows up in profiler as "Unknown AHCI controller"
12. I second that motion - with the USB 3.0 ports now working, the Marvell 9128 is the only thing left that doesn't work on my UD7 rev 1.0.
13. Here's the registry explorer file. X58A_UD7_Mac_Pro.zip
14. I don't let the system sleep, in general - I usually shut it down because the LG drive wakes it up anyway. Let me unplug it and I'll get back to you. OK, unplugged LG drive and booted back up. Double check energy settings - yep everything checked to shut off when it goes to sleep. Put it to sleep from the apple / sleep button. Worked fine. Went to kitchen, filled quart jar with handle on it with new ice, add water and a bit of lemon juice for flavour, turn on tv and watch tv guide scroll awhile to see what's on - nope, nothing on worth watching, as usual - waited about 15 minutes - that's should be enough time. Walked back to desk and rolled the ball in the Logitech trackball and the system woke up. Drive still shows on desktop, opens with finder - yep seems everything works OK. Course, that could just be my system, too. I would say that if sleep works for you now without the kext file and USB 3.0 drive, it ought to work with the kext file and the USB 3.0 drive plugged in.
15. Granted, but given the "theoretical" speeds I would expect more. Even the AJA Test System only reports a doubling of speed. I guess I'm just a speed junky, lol. USB 2.0 . USB 3.0
