1. Hi Minihack, Today i did a reinstall of OSX and tried booting with your /extra folder. I used the DSDT file you made for the other Vostro 3700 A09. When i removed the SSDT files the system is booting further but eventually hangs on the AppleHDA.kext After removing the AppleHDA and AppleHWSenser.kext its started booting into OSX. Once i got into osx i saw that my videocard is being recognized, and the video bios file was loaded. This unfortuantly gives me QE/CI or a better resolution. I don't know what need to be done to get the AppleHDA working, or how to create the SSDT files. Maybe you could give me a hand. -- Gezan
2. Hi Minihack, I found this http://www.tonymacx86.com/viewtopic.php?f=...415&start=0 thread on TonyMac stating the general problem we are facingh with our "Optimus" hybrid card solution. I also found out that the main card running on the system is the GMA one from intel. If this cards detect the start of directx it wil fire up the nVidia one passing thru all the graphics data. Now on of the big problems of this technology is that Mac Osx doesn't support our GMA graphics card maken the nVidia nearly impossible the fireup. Besides the new laptop Apple made consists of their own graphics switching device, which seems to work more enegy efficient then the "Optimus" technology from nVidia. http://www.geek.com/articles/chips/macbook...timus-20100414/ So i think that there will be never good support for this "Optimus" technology and our Graphic cards on Mac OSX. Btw. I'm trying to install Fedora on my laptop to see the new nVidia-linux driver suports the "Optimus" technology. -- Gezan
3. Hi MiniHack, I tried your kext but and it works, the only thing is that it is seeing the intel card as main card and doesn't want to switch to nVidia so i can test resolution etc. But it was a good try, last night i was chatting on irc with merklot. He made some changes to the chameleon bootloader so that i dumped the info about the Videocard table information. Now there was something unexpected in recku5 and mine videocardtbale info, somthing that the chameleon bootlaoder couldn't parse and thats why it chrashed. Now was merklot not the guy we needed to have to program the graphics card into the bootlaoder but i'm putting some effort in beeing online in IRC to figure who i need to have. irc.osx86.hu #vostro -- Gezan
4. Hi All, After a couple of days hard work i'm able to boot into OSX from my HD.(Yeey) But now comes the hard part my DSDT.aml is not able the detect my GForce 330m and inject te propper settings to get full Quality en QE/CI. I'm adding my IOreg dump file if some knows how to add my devices to the DSDT file your welcome i have no clue how to. Thanks Gezan dump.txt
5. I can confirm taht i have also only one videoadapter in the bios. Video Controller - Nvidia Geforce GT330m Video Bios Version - 70.16.5A.01.00 Last night i was searching for these ones to but my version of MacOSX (10.6.3) didn't have these. piyokos pointed out an update that contained these two kexts.http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1026 But i couldn't install this update becuase it did not take my OSX partition. The rest of the prequisites seem to be allright. -- Gezan
6. I think this is bad news becuase i don't have the option in my bios to change something regarding my videocard.
7. Hi rekcu5, I followed the same procedure with installing my vostro 3700. I also tried the different bootloaders with the same result. I think that dell changed the production of the vostro line enabling the two videocards. Or we have just two laptops that have a an unfortunate manufacturing flaw. What are your thoughts about this ? Maybe Minihack can see something wrong in our ACPI tables -- Gezan
8. Hi all, I want to confirm that my vostro 3700 aswell has two active videocards in the system overview. Maybe we have something in common my vostro is manufactured in China. -- Gezan
9. Hi MiniHack, Both options don't work for me. Tried removing some of the kext files aswell without any result. -- Gezan
10. There where no strange test string in my plist files. Attached you'll find my extra folder and ACPI tables extraction. This extraction is made with only 2GB memmory installed if this is a problem i will install the rest and make them again. -- Gezan Gezan_s_Extra_Folder.zip ACPI_Tables_Vostro_3700_A07.zip
11. After doing all of the above i booted with -v -x the system gave this output: Patched DMI Table Found SMBIOS System information table Using SMBIOS UUID='c0ce2600-93d7-3b41-843a-4d7c8e2c12e2' as system-id Load HFS+ File [Extra/DSDT.aml] 41164 bytes from 4252530. 12. HI MiniHack Thanks fro the quick reply. I installed the system booting your CD and then installed the Chameleon bootloader via #####. After a reboot via the bootCD again i installed the to_try_vostro_3700_2.zip file with the dsdt.aml and the mkext file. After this procedure I can boot into the chameleon boot loader but when i choose the macosx partition its booting real quick tot the apple logo and then resets the system. -- Gezan
13. Hi All, Lat week i got my brand new Vostro 3700 / i5 / 520m / 6Gb / 330m. When i found this thread i started straight away with reading and modifing my laptop. I finnally succeeded in installing osx 10.6.3 with the help of the BootCD from MiniHack, #####-Supported did not work for me what busratio or what ever setting i choose. I mainly used Adisor summary of installation from the previous page combined with the propper DSDT and kexts from MiniHack. Now my laptop will not boot at all it boots from the boot loader untill it says starting darwin x86 and then straight away reboots into POST screen. I think it has to do with it being a brand new laptop with A07 bios on it. Is there someone not so noobish as me that can help me point out the good direction ? -- Gezan
