Test install OSX86 10.4.8 Dvd Mac OS X 10.4.8 (Jas AMD-Intel-SEE2, 3 With PPF1, 2)
Mac OS X 10.4.11 Combo Update (Intel)
Open terminal and type the following commands
In the Terminal, to create the backup type. write
sudo cp -r /mach_kernel ./
Backup essential file. In the terminal write
sudo cp -r /System/Library/Extensions/AppleACPIPlatform.kext ./
sudo cp -r /System/Library/Extensions/AppleAPIC.kext ./
sudo cp -r /System/Library/Extensions/AppleSMBIOS.kext ./
Do not close the terminal
Copy the downloaded file in the Backup folder that is on the desktop, then double click and wait to mount the image then open the package and install.
"Do not restart when the installer asks"
Return to Terminal and type the following to restore system files
sudo cp -r ./mach_kernel /mach_kernel
sudo cp -r ./AppleACPIPlatform.kext /System/Library/Extensions
sudo cp -r ./AppleAPIC.kext /System/Library/Extensions
sudo cp -r ./AppleSMBIOS.kext /System/Library/Extensions
Close Terminal and open the Disk Utility, select the hard disk where you installed Mac OS X and click "Repair Permissions" Hopes to finish and then close the Disk Utility.
click on restart in the installer.
Reboot and load the gray screen where the apple appears, it takes a little while upgrading and restart again and ready once loaded you can go to "About This Mac and see which updates to 10.4.11.
Once updated you can go to the Apple website and download the latest programs that require Mac OS X 10.4.11.

This happens because the update disk permissions change, try to "Repair Permissions" in Disk Utility but I do not think that works.
