    Detecting soundchip

Same problem here too. Did either of you have any success mactelling your Aspires?
  2. Getting the 'you do not have sufficient privileges' message when trying to move the bundle. Probably a real noob question, but how do get past this? Go easy on me!

    best laptop, most compatible...

Acer TravelMate 2413NWLMi is as about as near as you can get to budget perfection!
  4. Anyone konw if 10.4.7 is on any newsgroups? My torrent is coming in very slowly due to seeds presumably disconnecting to install as soon as they're done!
  5. Got exactly the same problem with the same motherboard trying to install 10.4.5 Would an installation of the famous JaS 10.4.7 remedy this?

    Done the Laptop

First things first. I want to thank everyone in this community for some awesome work. Hopefully it might lead Apple to release OS X for non-Apple hardware. I had never even contemplated, let alone used it before stumbling upon this OSx86, and as a seasoned Linux and Windows user, I have to admit that I have been converted. After succesfully installing 10.4.5 on a super ultra totally-bottom-of-the-range-cheapo Acer TravelMate 2413NWLMi with absolutely perfect results, my desktop is next I intend to install the 10.4.7 on my desktop, but have two fat32 disks that are currently been read and written to by my Kubuntu installation on another drive. Can I do the same with 10.4.7? After my successful 10.4.5 installation on my little lappy, does 10.4.7 offer a broader range of hardware options? I have forgotten the brand of my mobo, but with a Radeon 9600pro and a Pentium 4 HT SSE2 CPU and a gig of ram, I guess I will get further with my desktop intallation than my initial laptop one (before I used the paperclip external monitor trick, and the wonderful Broadcom fix as suggested by 'Dense' of these fine messageboards!) Since I am not a gamer, I'm going to go the whole hog and be OSx86-only on both machines, such is my faith in this project. If it's good enough for JaS, it's more than good enough for me I understand that my questions have probably been a wee bit dumb, but thanks all the same for taking time to read this.
  9. This might help: http://wiki.osx86project.org/wiki/index.php/HCL_10.4.7
  10. Think I've just about learned the basics. The only strange thing so far was the wierd way the mac installs software! I cannot recommend this laptop highly enough for Hac os X on the cheap. I have a gig of ram which probably helps speed things up. MS Office is a little slower than in Windows/Crossover, but I guess that's down to Rosetta. The wireless tweak to enable AirPort was actually much, much easier than getting wireless working with ndiswrapper on Linux
  11. no idea what you mean! Just moved my mouse to the right of the screen and nothing unusual happened, so I guess the answer is no All I have to do now is learn how to use a Mac! I've been using Linux and Windows for years, so I guess the learning curve won't be that steep
  12. Who'd have thought it? Got this cheap laptop working on 10.4.5 to near perfection. Here are the specs Intel Celeron-M 370 15.4inch TFT WXGA 910GML Express chipset Even the function keys work for volume and brightness. The only 'hack' I used was the paperclip 'dongle' trick to avoid the blue screen of nothingness! Now the only problem is my Broadcom BCM94318 wireless. Do you think there is any way I can get that working? Also, if I did a fresh install of the latest JaS release, would this give me any more hope with the wireless? I'm a total noob who has used the search function prior to posting, so please be patient! Edit: Got it working with this excellent advice from the user known as Dense: http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?sho...c=11614&hl= Everything that I have tried on it now works. This could be the ideal budget Hackintosh lappy. I bought it a few months back for £400, and now I know why it didn't come bundled with Windows!!!
