  1. Asus 1201N Installation and support

Hey I've reinstalled Mac OS X on my netbook and now my fans sound like helicopters. The fans run fine on the mac OS X install USB but go crazy after everything is in place. Is anyone else running into this issue and/or have a possible solution?
  2. ACPI Backlight Driver

Hi I am having trouble with your kext and injecting the properties into my DSDT on my Asus 1201N. The SB scope ones work fine but when I try to inject the other properties under _DSM in IGPU I can't compile a DSDT.aml. Do I have the properties in the wrong location? I knew they went there in the previous kext version but your instructions on this post are vague to me.

Just buy a cheap bluetooth or line in mic if you need ichat and facetime badly. Otherwise just use skype or google talk. I'm also getting some really slow recharge times and my fan seems loud still. Am I missing something, I'm using the 4.0 Extra file?
  4. Asus 1201N Installation and support

I'm gonna second this, since 10.6.8 is most likely the last version of Snow Leopard it'd be nice to have our guides in order with it. I use my 1201N daily and don't have the patience or time to risk bricking it. I personally think the 1201N is weak enough with SL and I think Lion would be too much. As well some Lion reviews were rotten and I want Rosetta support (StarCraft 1).
  5. Asus 1201N Installation and support

Ok I found the problem with iChat and Facetime Garageband and Skype which both work, in their plist files identify the microphone as: "Built-In Microphone" or some text variation Facetime and iChat (both don't work) identifies the mic by the driver: "Source:1768778083AppleHDAEngineInput:8,0,1,0:1" It would seem that this number isn't correct (it's the same when I reload the plist). Could someone help me identify the correct code for the microphone.
  6. Asus 1201N Installation and support

What does it do exactly and how do I use the patch with my DSDT? I've been wondering how to patch lately. Trying the new AppleHDA.kext, running kext utility as I post. EDIT: No luck with facetime and ichat, input still reads in system prefs and skype.
  7. Asus 1201N Installation and support

Graphics are generally slower on Mac OS X, especially with nvidia products, this applies even to my Macbook pro sadly. I've run StarCraft 2 and Call of Duty 4 on my 1210N in Windows 7 at very playable frames per second, so it's not the hardware. I'm not sure if the 1201N has good mac drivers for the GPU, if someone does know how to improve performance I would love to know. As well Adobe Flash is very CPU intensive of Mac OS X and Linux, so the 1201N really takes a beating. Try downloading the newest betas of flash player that take advantage of the GPU more but I've never tried Hulu since I'm in Canada. For other sites, this safari plugin transforms videos nicely in HTML5 which does support full GPU support on the 1201N. It works for Vimeo, Facebook and Youtube and runs 1080p fine. http://www.verticalforest.com/youtube5-extension/ On a side note did someone figure out why the mic doesn't work in iChat or facetime but does in Skype and Googletalk.
  8. iChat/Facetime Sound and 1201N

Hey today I tried to use iChat and Facetime on my 1201N and there was no sound input. Skype and Google Talk work fine and I can see the input on the Sound preference pane, why can't these two apps see sound? I'm wondering why this doesn't work here, seems peculiar.
  9. ACPI Backlight Display driver

I made the changes to the DSDT. I though mrd752002 had them but he didn't. The hotkey notification works but the display preference slider doesn't, I included by DSDT in case I screwed up. As well could there be a chance to get itunes hotkeys working? No hurry cause I use Bowtie to bind windows-arrow keys to use itunes anyways. dsdt.aml.zip
  10. Asus 1201N Installation and support

I forgot where I got this DSDT, it works well and can with lidsleep.kext sleep without SleepEnabler.kext with the lid close. I have 2GB so I'm trying the one in the link right now, if it doesn't work well I'll go back to the old one and try to add Pstates. I forgot you had 4GB so thats most likely it. Okay the 2GB thing fixed, I feel stupid. Also I can't get the BIOS boot booster back, you said you disabled it?
  11. Asus 1201N Installation and support

Okay I got the battery indicator and proper power management by using my old DSDT file. Did you modify your DSDT with CStates and Pstates? I'm not clear on what on what P and C states do. dsdt.aml.zip
  12. Asus 1201N Installation and support

Ya that didn't do it and as well the computer doesn't turn off without holding the power button. As well sleeping the computer isn't working, I feel the hard drive stop but all the indicator lights stay on, the same ones on shutdown.
  13. Asus 1201N Installation and support

Hey I got a problem, my battery indicator doesn't work and just says "not charging".
  14. Asus 1201N Installation and support

I'm gonna try this sleepenabler.kext but I was so fond of vanilla sleep from a DSDT hack. @TiGuy82 I am using your kexts and dsdts you had in your post, to clarify the status lights don't turn off and the power button doesn't blink but Mac OS X thinks it sleeps. EDIT: SleepEnabler.kext fixed this, will report stability.
  15. Asus 1201N Installation and support

Still doesn't work. The display shuts off but the lights don't turn off. When I hit the spacebar it wakes up and it acts like it just woke up. Screen is locked, reconnects to wifi and AsusHotkeys doesn't work.
