[GUIDE] 1st Generation Intel HD Graphics QE/CI

Hello from Brazil, everyone. I'd like to ask you guys for a little assistance, if possible: I have a Lenovo ideapad z460 with a Core i3 350m processor (Arrandale). The kext package provided for QE/CI works beautifully with Chameleon bootloader and Yosemite. From 10.10 to 10.10.5, I have always selected the SingleLinK option (since my native resolution is 1366x768), "Normal" Framebuffer, LCD+VGA LW1. With these choices for Chameleon/Yosemite, I have QE/CI fully enabled. Here is my problem: I have now decided to install El Capitan 10.11.6 and use Clover Legacy (laptop has older bios - no UEFI support) as the bootloader. Depending on which Framebuffer I choose, either the system won’t get past the Apple Logo and progress bar, or it does reach the desktop, but the screen is all garbled. I have tried every Framebuffer kext provided, but the result is always the same: either the system never reaches the desktop, or it does reach it, but the screen is all messed up. In Clover settings, I have “PatchVBIOS” checked, but everything else unchecked. Clover GUI resolution is perfect. Here is where things get confusing: With Clover, if I do not install AppleIntelHDGraphics.kext and AppleIntelHDGraphicsFB.kext, I can reach the desktop just fine with my laptop’s native resolution. However, obviously no QE/CI… If I use Enoch as the bootloader, I can install the kexts from the package and have QE/CI fully enabled?! Does anyone have any idea what I am doing wrong? Thanks in advance.

    Chameleon 2.4 svn

Hello again. Is there anyone else here that has the same scenario as I described above? Or someone who could at least confirm if Chameleon draws the boot up screen from it's own boot file instead of the "boot.efi" inside "CoreServices" folder? Thanks!!!

    Chameleon 2.4 svn

Hi again chris. The images won't work. Not for what I want to do anyway. I want the "boot-up screen" to have a "black background" with a "white apple logo" and "white progress bar or spinner" (I prefer the spinner). The images you sent to me could be changed inside my default Chameleon's theme, I know it. I am talking about the screen that comes up "after" the default theme screen, during OS load-up. Any more ideas anyone? Thanks!!

    Chameleon 2.4 svn

Hello everyone, I hope it's ok to I ask this here: is there anything that can be done to get Chameleon to boot Yosemite with the new Black Background + White Apple Logo screen? I am using Chameleon-2.3svn-r2510 and it boots Yosemite much faster than Clover! I have already seen a post where it is possible to change the boot screen background from Grey to Black. The problem with this fix is that the progress bar/spinner are no longer visible. One thing I don't understand is this: I read in several forums that Chameleon doesn't draw the boot screen from boot.efi. The thing is, after I entered the flag "meter=0" in my "org.chameleon.boot.plist", the boot screen showed the spinner instead of the progress bar, which looks way better IMO. Is this feature not being drawn from "boot.efi"? I'd appreciate any help!! Thanks!!

    Clover General discussion

Hi Slice. Thank you for answering. I had already read that post. As I said, my config.plist does "not" have "Log" nor "Debug" entry. I am using Clover_v2k_r3128, so the entry would be "Debug" according to post #47. If I have "neither" ("Log" nor "Debug"), does Clover boot as if it was set to "False"? Or do I have to create a "Debug" entry and set it to "False"? As far as not using VBoxHfs-64.efi: On my desktop, I have Clover running UEFI mode. And on this machine, I had already downloaded the HFSPlus-64.efi and replaced VBoxHfs-64.efi on "drivers64" and "drivers64UEFI" folders. On my laptop, I had to install Clover in Legacy mode. But I also replaced the VBoxHfs-64.efi inside the same folders. Clover is installed on the HDD EFI partition of both, the desktop and laptop. So I am not using an USB drive to boot. I will try the other steps and review everything on my laptop. Thanks again.

    Clover General discussion

Hi Slice. Could you help me? I am trying to speed up Clover boot time. I really want to use Clover, and unfortunately I can only use it with Legacy Mode. When using Chameleon to boot Yosemite, I am at the desktop in a little under 40 seconds. If I use Clover, it can take up to 1 minute and 10 seconds, sometimes 1 minute 20 seconds. First I had a problem which I already got help on another forum for. My screen was scrambled (unusable) using patched kexts for Intel HD Graphics 1st generation with Clover. Chameleon worked perfectly with the same patched kexts. "warraysraw" was kind enough to fix my problem by explaining how I had to inject the "AAPL OS info" in Clover. The only thing I wish to improve is the boot time. Any suggestion? My config.plist has no "Log" nor "Degug" entry, which I know should be set to "No" or "False". I am assuming that if it has no such entries, it behaves as if they are set to "No" or "False". Am I correct? Thanks in advance. Regards. Lenovo ideapad z460 2GB RAM Intel Core i3 350-m

[GUIDE] 1st Generation Intel HD Graphics QE/CI

Hi warraisraw. Thank you for answering. I "think" I'm not using any GPU related injection on my dsdt. The only injection I might have is for audio. I will give your instruction a go and let you know how it goes. Thanks again for the help!! UPDATE: Yup!!! That did it warraisraw!! Thank you so much for this!! Full QE/CI enabled!! Now I have to try cutting down the boot time. Chameleon gets to desktop in about 40 seconds. Clover is taking twice as long. It gets to desktop in about 1 minute and 20 seconds. Thank you again!!

[GUIDE] 1st Generation Intel HD Graphics QE/CI

Hello, First, congrats for this wonderful guide!! It was awesome to be able to use my Intel HD with QE/CI fully enabled!! I was even able to have QE/CI on an Intel P6100 before, even though now I have an Intel Core i3 350-m on my Lenovo ideapad z460. I was wondering if you guys could help me wiith Clover Legacy. (I think my laptop can't boot pure UEFI). I have Yosemite installed, and the only component not working is my ethernet card (unsupported - some kexts work, but they all cause random kernel panics). My problem is using Clover and the patched Intel HD graphics kexts for 10.10. The kexts work perfectly with Chameleon, but I can't get them to work if I use Clover. I have made sure that config.plist has no Intel injection, and that VBios is patched. I always used Single-Link - Normal - LCD+VGA - LW1 and the framebuffer is perfect with Chameleon, but with Clover the screen is scrambled, unusable. Is there anything I need to do in order to use Clover? Can someone point me in the right direction? Thanks a bunch!! Lenovo ideapad z460 Intel Core i3 350-m
  12. Hi tluck. I will download your files and give it a go to see what happens. But from what I'd been reading this past week, it seems that some peoplle have managed to get the cx20585 working via DSDT edits. I do realize VoodooHDA is an option, but due to the occasional KPs, I am gonna try to get AppleHDA to work. We'll see... But anyway, thanks for the heads up. I'll post the results after I try your kext. Cheers!
  13. Hello Joshhh. Would you mind taking a look at post #394 when you get a chance? Thank you kindly.
  14. Hello Joshhh. I know this forum is for the ThinkPad, but would you be willing to help me in creating an AppleHDA.kext for my Lenovo Ideapad z460? My Codec is the Conexant cx20585, and its vendor id is 14f1_5069. It does not show when I run System Info.app (not System Information), the only thing I can see is the Audio Controller (vendor id 8086_3b56). I really appreciate your help. I am attaching a Linux codec dump and a Vanilla dsdt.aml I extracted using Ubuntu 12.04 ok? Thank You!! Lenovo_z460_DSDT_Virgem_Linux.aml.zip codec_dump.txt.zip

    Hi bboyg, and thank you for your reply. Here is the thing: I know how to decompile and recompile the dsdt. My confusion is where to add the code. If you would take a look at my dsdt.dsl below, the GFX0 section looks like this: Device (GFX0) { Name (_ADR, 0x00020000) Name (DSEN, 0x00) Name (NDID, 0x00) Name (DID1, 0x80000100) Name (DID2, 0x80000410) Name (DID4, 0x00) Name (DID5, 0x00) OperationRegion (OPR0, SystemIO, 0x80, 0x01) Field (OPR0, ByteAcc, NoLock, Preserve) { DP80, 8 } OperationRegion (OPR1, SystemIO, 0xB2, 0x01) Field (OPR1, ByteAcc, NoLock, Preserve) { DPB2, 8 } OperationRegion (OPR2, SystemIO, 0xB3, 0x01) Field (OPR2, ByteAcc, NoLock, Preserve) { DPB3, 8 } OperationRegion (OPR3, SystemIO, 0x0900, 0x01) Field (OPR3, ByteAcc, NoLock, Preserve) { DP9H, 8 } OperationRegion (IGFX, PCI_Config, 0xF0, 0x10) Field (IGFX, AnyAcc, NoLock, Preserve) { Offset (0x04), BREG, 8 } Scope (\_GPE) { } Method (_DOS, 1, NotSerialized) { Store (And (Arg0, 0x07), DSEN) } Method (_DOD, 0, NotSerialized) { If (SCIP ()) { Store (0x00, NDID) If (LNotEqual (DIDL, Zero)) { Store (SDDL (DID1), DID1) } If (LNotEqual (DDL2, Zero)) { Store (SDDL (DID2), DID2) } If (LNotEqual (DDL3, Zero)) { Store (SDDL (DID3), DID3) } If (LNotEqual (DDL4, Zero)) { Store (SDDL (DID4), DID4) } If (LNotEqual (DDL5, Zero)) { Store (SDDL (DID5), DID5) } } If (LEqual (NDID, 0x01)) { Name (TMP1, Package (0x01) { 0xFFFFFFFF }) Store (Or (0x00010000, DID1), Index (TMP1, 0x00)) Return (TMP1) } If (LEqual (NDID, 0x02)) { Name (TMP2, Package (0x02) { 0xFFFFFFFF, 0xFFFFFFFF }) Store (Or (0x00010000, DID1), Index (TMP2, 0x00)) Store (Or (0x00010000, DID2), Index (TMP2, 0x01)) Return (TMP2) } If (LEqual (NDID, 0x03)) { Name (TMP3, Package (0x03) { 0xFFFFFFFF, 0xFFFFFFFF, 0xFFFFFFFF }) Store (Or (0x00010000, DID1), Index (TMP3, 0x00)) Store (Or (0x00010000, DID2), Index (TMP3, 0x01)) Store (Or (0x00010000, DID3), Index (TMP3, 0x02)) Return (TMP3) } If (LEqual (NDID, 0x04)) { Name (TMP4, Package (0x04) { 0xFFFFFFFF, 0xFFFFFFFF, 0xFFFFFFFF, 0xFFFFFFFF }) Store (Or (0x00010000, DID1), Index (TMP4, 0x00)) Store (Or (0x00010000, DID2), Index (TMP4, 0x01)) Store (Or (0x00010000, DID3), Index (TMP4, 0x02)) Store (Or (0x00010000, DID4), Index (TMP4, 0x03)) Return (TMP4) } If (LGreater (NDID, 0x04)) { Name (TMP5, Package (0x05) { 0xFFFFFFFF, 0xFFFFFFFF, 0xFFFFFFFF, 0xFFFFFFFF, 0xFFFFFFFF }) Store (Or (0x00010000, DID1), Index (TMP5, 0x00)) Store (Or (0x00010000, DID2), Index (TMP5, 0x01)) Store (Or (0x00010000, DID3), Index (TMP5, 0x02)) Store (Or (0x00010000, DID4), Index (TMP5, 0x03)) Store (Or (0x00010000, DID4), Index (TMP5, 0x04)) Return (TMP5) } Return (Package (0x01) { 0x0400 So, it has a lot of information and I do believe that the alignment is important also, is it not? Another problem is that when I cut/paste the section from the dsdt to insert it in my reply here, it keeps the orginal format. However, as soon as click on "add reply", the code automatically justifies left. Any help you could provide is much appreciated. Thanks again

Hello everyone, Would someone please help me as tell me "how" to add this code do my dsdt? The problem is the code here on the page is all justified left, while in the dsdt the brackets are in different alignments. Attached is my dsdt.dsl so that maybe someone can help out? GMA X4500

Morning Alec. Good news! I tried your last suggestion, but it didn`t work. I decided to try using Asere`s Bootloader version 1.1.9 and it worked like a charm. Yeah! Now I am back to having my native resolution and boot time is absolutely normal. Thanks for all your help.

    GMA X4500

Will try this one too. I tell you, this is the only thing left I have to get to work. If I do, I will have a fully functional system, except for sleep. But then again, thousands of us have the latter problem, so no big deal. I even got my Mat{censored}a DVD-RW working! I will try tomorrow and let you know. Thanks a bunch.

    GMA X4500

Hi again Alec. I reinstalled using Snow Leopard Universal because it boots in 32-bit mode by default, but unfortunately no luck with your kexts. The system does load the kexts, because during system startup, the screen flickers as if the kexts are being loaded. After the blue screen (final stage of mounting), the screen will split in 2: on the left it is white, and on the right it has a sort of a grayish hue. I do believe that my DSDT is not helping any. Because it is one thing for me to patch the DSDT using a DSDT patcher, but when it comes to perfecting it in order for it to work with my system, I really don't know how to do it. The only fix I can do is change the RTC device length to "02" and thus avoiding CMOS reset. I have my ACPI tables and DSDT saved using Everest in Windows, but I wouldn't know where to begin. I must admit, I am very jealous of everyone who has the GMA3100 kexts working for them. I wish I could join you guys... But thank you anyway. I really appreciate.

    GMA X4500

Great Alec, thanks! I will give it a shot and see what happens. Will keep you posted. Just one thing though: the flag would go in "Kernel Flags string" added to "com.apple.Boot.plist" right? Would you happen to know if it shoul be "-x32" or "arch=i386"? Thanks once again.

    GMA X4500

Hello to all on the forum from Brazil! I have been following the GMA 4500m threads for quite some time now, and I know how much effort several people have put it in to make this card work. So thanks once again. Now to the problem I am facing: I have a Sony Vaio VGN-NS120AH (sold in Brazil) and with Deviato's method (Patched Chameleon) and Leopard 10.5.8 (using iATKOS v7, then iDeneb upgrade) I basically turned my Vaio into a MacBook , except for the Wireless Card. So, on Leopard I get my native resolution (1280x800) by installing Chameleon 2 and inserting Graphics Mode=1280x800x32 in com.apple.boot.plist. Now here is what is really Killing me... I can install Snow Leopard (Retail & Universal) just fine and absolutely everything works beautifully as long as I use Chameleon 1. As soon as I try to run any version of Chameleon 2 (RC3, RC4, RC5), the boot time increases to over 2 minutes! But that is not the only problem. Once I am at the Desktop, both the keyboard and the trackpad are active, but do not respond until 7 ou 8 minutes later! WTH?? I know this because if I press the Caps Key, it turns the little light ON and OFF as it should, and if I touch the trackpad the cursor moves normally. I just cannot "Type" nor "Click" anything for what seems like an eternity! Oh yes! Chameleon 2 also kills my Atheros Wireless Card, all of sudden the system will say "No Airport Card Installed!" So, I very very much need help, maybe someone experienced the same problem? Because I am sooo close to complete success... it would be a total bummer having to give up on Chameleon 2. It is the only way I can get my GMA 4500M to have its native resolution of 1280x800. Someone please help? Thanks again.
  23. <br /><br /><br /><br /><br />it all depends on the sata driver included in the distro.. if the DVD drive is not getting detected, install the kext provided in kalyway 10.5.1 .. )<br /><br /> <br /><br /><br /> Hi Abhilash, thank you for your prompt reply. Just one question though: So I should look for any SATA kexts on the kalyway distro and install them on iDeneb after setup is finished right? I mean, once I have the system running I would then install such kexts with either OSX86Tools or KextHelper? Muito Obrigado!! (Much Obliged)!!
  24. First, hello to everyone on the forum from Brazil. Is there any chance that someone here could help me on a fix for my SATA DVD-RW drive MAT{censored}A DVD-RAM UJ870BJ drive? I have a Sony Vaio VGN-NS120AH, and have been trying to install iDeneb 10.5.7 (great release by the way!) on my laptop. Unfortunately, I have the infamous GMA 4500M graphics card, and have given up on getting my native resolution, which would be 1280x800. Tried everything and can't get it to work, only 1024x768. As far as the sound goes, the ALC262 package works perfectly. Ethernet I really have not tried to fix yet. I have a Marvell Yukon 88E8055 PCI-E Gigabit Ethernet Controller. No big deal, can live without it for now. My Atheros wireless adapter works just fine on Snow Leopard, but not on Leopard. (Is there a way to port this driver from Snow Leopard to Leopard?) Now to the problem I really would like to solve: when I used Kalyway 10.5.1 distro, my Mat{censored}a DVD drive was recognized normally during and after installation, and I could easily burn media with it. But with iDeneb (and also iPC) after the installation is complete, it no longer works. It appears on the System Profiler under Serial-ATA devices along with my hard drive, but not under Burning Devices. It is simply useless. So my question is, should I chose a specific kernel to install iDeneb? Because this has been driving me bananas. I have installed successfully several times, but no luck with the DVD drive. Can someone please help me? I really appreciate it.
