  1. Trouble Installing Boot Camp

Since I wasn't able to do anything about the slowdown in Windows, I decided to reinstall the whole thing. I partitioned the drive and put in a Windows XP installation CD. When I clicked on install, the computer restarted and just got stuck on the Apple logo. I tried again, and it simply booted up into the OS X finder, completely ignoring the CD. I tried again, deleting and remaking the partition, and inserted a CD for Windows XP Professional. This time it went to the Apple logo, which started to flash into a bunch of other symbols, like a folder with a question mark on it. Does anybody know what to do here? Boot Camp is really starting to get aggravating.
  2. Massive Slowdown

Whenever I load Boot Camp, it ends up running incredibly slow, to the point where it takes a full minute to even open up the control panels. I tried repairing the drivers, but that didn't seem to help. Viruses are a possibility, but they seem unlikely since I very rarely go online in Boot Camp, and when I do I'm selective as to the sites I visit. Any ideas on what might be causing this? It's gotten to the point where Boot Camp is effectively crippled and unusable. Thanks.
  3. Blue Screen of Inactivity

Okay, just to update, I tried holding down C (while having the install disc loaded), but I just ended up with the same problem. When that didn't work, I rebooted the computer while holding down shift. I saw my desktop background appear, followed by a login window. I entered my password and waited. Unfortunately, my login window just popped up again, like it's stuck in a loop or something. It keeps on doing this. Any ideas on how to solve this problem?
  4. Blue Screen of Inactivity

I ran into an odd problem this morning, and I thought I'd ask you guys for help. When I turned on my computer, I waited for it to finish loading up (the period when the Apple logo is on the screen). Once it did, the screen went blue and just got stuck there. I waited for as long as ten minutes, but nothing seemed to happen. I tried restarting, turning it off and back on again, all without any result. I can still use the Windows side of my computer via Boot Camp, but the Mac side is inaccessible. Any ideas what might be causing this, or how to fix it? I don't remember exactly what level of OS I had, though I know it's 10.5.something. Thanks.
  5. CD/DVD Drive

This model doesn't have the little hole for manual ejection. The CD's inserted into a little slot on the side. But yeah, I'll probably end up buying a replacement drive of some kind. Would I get those from the Apple Store? Anyway, thanks.
  6. CD/DVD Drive

NOTE: I mistakenly posted in this in the OS 86 boards, here: http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/index.php...p;#entry1368548 Mods, feel free to delete the old one. Sorry to clutter up the forum. Hey, I have a hardware-related question. Something's wrong with the CD/DVD Drive on my iMac 5.1. Whenever I put in a disc, I start hearing this periodic humming sound. The disc icon never appears, and my computer gets partially stuck; I can move the mouse, but it am unable to eject the disc. I couldn't shut it down normally, so I switched off the entire computer. Turning it back on, I found it wouldn't load. Finally, after several attempts, it finally spat out the disc. This first happened with a PC CD I was using on Boot Camp, but the same problem appeared on a Mac CD on the Apple side, so I'm thinking it's a hardware problem. I tried cleaning the drive, but that didn't help, and right now I'm very reluctant to insert another disc. I'm probably going to end up taking this to the Genius Bar or something come next week, but I was wondering if anyone here had a similar experience to this. Thanks, and Happy Holidays.

Oh, sorry! I'll make a new thread over there. If any mods are reading this, feel free to delete this thread.

  9. OpenGL Games on Windows XP

Thanks, I'll check it out. I'll ask here if I run into any problems.
  10. OpenGL Games on Windows XP

I was wondering if it was possible to run a game using OpenGL graphics (I'm speaking specifically of Hexen 2, though it applies to other programs as well) on Windows XP via an iMac boot camp. I've heard that Windows XP does not normally support OpenGL, though that it is possible to get it to run. Does anybody know how to do this for boot camp? Thank you.

    Never mind, it's working.
  12. Problems with Boot Camp

Hello. I've been having some trouble with Boot Camp. I own an iMac and run OS X 10.5.8. I followed the directions for Boot Camp; I created the partition, and was able to access Windows. Unfortunately, I cannot go online in Windows. Now, I did some research and found out that I'm supposed to put in the OS X 10.5 CD and run setup.exe on Windows. This will install the Mac drivers. However, I upgraded from 10.4 to 10.5 via the online Apple store (at least, that's what I recall; I don't seem to have the CD anywhere, and I didn't download it from an illicit source). The only CDs I have are for the original OSX, which I used on the G5 that I once owned. Since I have no CD for 10.5, I'm not sure how I can install the drivers. Does anyone here know how to solve the problem? Thank you.
