  1. I got SL 10.6.2 running on ASUS P5Q Pro. Sound not working possibly due to conflict between onboard audio (ALC1200) and ATI 4850 graphics card audio. I am using HDAEnabler.kext provided by marionez on another thread. System profiler shows 2 audio devices although none of them is recognized in audio preferences. Anyone else had this problem?

Looks like the above solutions don't work for my motherboard (P5Q Pro w ATI 48xx card). How do I enable sound on my system? Currently there is no onboard audio at all? I need the onboard audio working not ATI as I don't have the DVI plugged into a monitor with audio.

I appreciate your response. I need a little more help in understanding what you have said. I want the onboard audio to work (basically disable the audio in the ati graphics card). Currently system profiler shows onboard audio as the 2nd component. What do I need to do with the files you attached to get it working? Thanks much for your help

Running Snow Leopard 10.6.2 on P5Q Pro with ATI 4850. System profiler shows 2 Intel High Definition Audio devices. Only the 2nd device is for the onboard audio and it shows all the various input/output ports correctly. But still no sound. The sound preference shows no device. Found out that the ATI card's in-built sound conflicts with the onboard Audio. How do I resolve this?
  5. I have the same issue on my P5Q Pro with ATI 4870. I got a different solution from someone on this thread but I have not tried it yet. If your solution is simpler I may go with it. Anyway, here is what I got on this thread: You have an ATI graphic card. Some soundcard on ATI vga cards may conflict to some sound on boards. Using DSDT.aml with patching HDEF injection (sound on board) may solve your problem. You got to ask someone how to patch DSDT for ASUS mainboards. Another way is using an Nvidia vga card. For my case without DSDT.aml, I am using ATI HD4870 and EP45-UD3R (ALC889a). My GA ALC889a is working fine although there are two HDAs in System Profiler. However, I got sound assertion of ATI sound on vga card in System.log. After I am using DSDT.aml with patching HDEF function for ALC889a, I got only one HDA (ALC889a) in System Profiler and no sound assertion in System.log.
  6. Yes using ATI 48xx series card. Where can I find DSDT.aml and what do I do with it? Thanks much for your help.
  7. Hi, I see the audio devices in System Profiler just like you show it however I see 2 lines for Intel High Definition Audio. The first one seems like a bogus entry but the 2nd one has all the audio devices. How do I get rid of this 1st entry. Is it from an older kext or something?
  8. Hi, Is sleepenabler.kext required for audio to work on P5Q Pro running 10.6.2? I am having trouble getting audio to work. The only kext I updated thus far is AppleHDA.kext. The System Profiler shows the Inbuilt Audio Device however I don't see it in System preferences. Am I missing any other kext?
  9. Is sleepenabler.kext required for audio to work ? Where can I find it? I am new to Mac OS X (on a PC) and appreciate any help.
  10. Hi Marionez, I am running Snow Leopard 10.6.2 on ASUS P5Q Pro. I updated AppleHDA.kext from your 10.6.2 vanilla link. The System Profiler shows the Audio device with various inputs/outputs however in System Preferences when I try to set up audio there is no device. Is there any other kext that I need to add besides AppleHDA.kext? I am running psystar EFI so not sure if that makes a difference too. Thanks
  11. Hi, your link is not working. can you check it please?
