  1. Is leopard a real 64bit OS?

Actually the chip in my Hack is an AMD Athlon X2 6000+. It's the 125w version and it does have the SSE3. (I linked to Wikipedia as it was quicker and easier than booting to Windows to grab a screenshot with CPU-Z)
  2. Is leopard a real 64bit OS?

I know for sure that 32-bit Windows will NOT address (read "use") >3.x Gb. (It's somewhere about 3.2-3.5 Gb depending on how you measure it) From what I understand there has been a limit of 2Gb of addressed space being available to any single application, however that has been fixed through updates and service packs. Also the service packs have served to change how the memory is reported, so if you have 4gb installed, it will "recognize" it all, but it will not address (use) it all. Note the "Physical memory available to Windows" I understand my install of Leo is kinda jacked up as it's modified to run on my AMD, but it doesn't seem there should be much difficulty running the 64-bit code as AMD is the originator of the x86-64 instructions (for once, Intel had to adopt a standard they didn't create). Every item in my "Activity Monitor" shows it's kind as "Intel" (not "Intel 64") but completely recognizing all 4gb of memory. Does that mean my Leo is running the 64-bit extension to address it? I tried that but it still showed up as just "Intel", not "Intel 64"
  3. M2N SLI Deluxe AMD Box

Hey Lance, did you have any difficulties with the install? I have the same mobo with an Athlon X2 6000+ and 2gb ram and have had nothing but failures.I've tried many distro's and I have yet to complete one successfully. iDeneb, iAtkos, Kalyway, Leo4all, each has it's own errors it pops up with, usually something like "The installer could not verify the contents of the 'xxxx' package." I've tried multiple burns of the same iso at different speeds, different downloaded copies of the same distro and of course other distros and still no joy.Might I inquire as to what your drive setup is? I've been working with and IDE HDD and an IDE DVD drive, although I've previously tried SATA-IDE, IDE-SATA, and SATA-SATA. To be honest, I've had so little success I abandoned the SATA's a while ago as many distros wouldn't even get into the installer!Any suggestions are greatly welcomed! Thanks!
  4. Over the course of my efforts I've used both store-brand DVD's (currently Staples) and also name brand ones (Memorex and HP). I can't imagine each of these would present the same problems, but thank you for your input!
  5. I was hoping to get some help as well. I've got an AMD Athlon X2 6000+ on an ASUS M2N-SLI and I've had nothing but problems trying to complete an install. I've tried just about every distro (iDeneb, iAtkos, Kalyway, Leo4all, and probably others I'm forgetting). I have yet to be able to successfully complete an install, usually ending with an error stating "The installer could not validate the contents of the 'xxxxxxx' package." The package it fails on depends on which distro I'm trying. I've tried multiple burns of the iso's, sometimes at 1x. I've even re-downloaded iso's thinking perhaps I've gotten a 'bad' iso. My current setup involves an IDE DVD drive and an IDE HDD, although I have tried SATA-IDE, IDE-SATA, and SATA-SATA. Where other's have seen success, I've seen none and I'm not sure where to turn next! Thanks in advance for any assistance.
