Lenovo ThinkPad T420 with UEFI Only

Hi tluck, thanks for the reply. Nope, unfortunately this is even before reaching the installer, sorry for being unclear on that one. It does show the UUID of the boot disk however. After that line it just freezes and becomes unresponsive. The E330 is a i3 machine using the intel HD4000 internal graphics, if that is of relevance. Perhaps the DSDT is getting things stuck?

Lenovo ThinkPad T420 with UEFI Only

E330 User here I keep getting stuck on "root device uuid is" regardless of which boot option I choose (cache/kexts) and regardless of whether I enable or disable Duallink in the config. Perhaps my install media is corrupted somehow, because everything went through without throwing an error message, but in the end I need to force eject the usb install medium (used it for osx and your pack), because EFI wouldn't unmount. any ideas? cheers!
  3. GA-EP45-DS3 (correct dsdt for bios) SMBIOS Mac Pro 3,1 Asus ENGT520 SILENT 10.8.2 latest Chimera Experiencing some very odd artifacts that appear rather randomly. 3D/OpenGL stuff and Heaven Benchmark runs through continously and without errors, even with max AA and max AF turned on. I appear to have QE/CI working and dual Monitor too, the artifacts appear on both monitors and concentrate mainly on menu elements, icons and filenames. The Graphics Adapter is brand new and does not appear to have any thermal issues under load (tested with my bare hands) and does not show any other abnormalities. After sleep, the artifacts tend to disappear for a while. After longer use (not neccessarily under load!) they reappear. Currently I am using the stock NVDAGF100Hal.kext, patched with the correct device/vendor ID. I installed the newest Chimera and deleted Appleupstreamuserclient.kext (if that is of any relevance). Regardless of whether i boot with GraphicsEnabler enabled or disabled, I am seeing the same symptoms. Also I am not using any special kexts other than HDAEnabler.kext and RTL-kext by lnx2mac. Cinebench and Heaven results are what is to be expected of this card. Since the System (GA-EP45-DS3, Q6600 on stock speed) is running vanilla and has been working with the proper DSDT for a couple of months now, and the only new component is the GPU, i guess that the card has faulty VRAM or something along those lines. But since stress tests do not make the system lock up or heat up for that matter, I was wondering whether someone else experienced similar issues. My searches in several forums did not bring up anything useful. I have attached a couple of Screenshots (yep, the artifacts show up on screenshots). Other than the artifacts the system is smooth and runs well. Oh and I tried several options for the Gigabyte Robust Graphics Booster in the BIOS (AUTO/Fast/Turbo), but there does not really be a way to turn it off. However I cannot imagine that such a marginal overclock, if it even does anything at all, would cause such heavy artifacts. - any ideas for a fix regarding the visual glitches? - any way to do an artifact test under osx? i know of ways in windows, but the machine does not have a windows install available to test atm - chances for this being a hardware defect? i am betting on corrupt vram or the likes thanks in advance for any help offered Guess this is a Fermi issue? The latest nvidia drivers do not show support for the GT520 though, should i try to install them?

USB issues. Computer won't go to sleep.

Hey Johan, if you board supports WOL, it should be in a section called power/energy management/etc. It is however possible that your board simply does not support wake on lan. My DSDT (GA-EP45-DS3) is here, perhaps we can figure out the cause together.

USB issues. Computer won't go to sleep.

Similar issue on GA-EP45-DS3 here: 17.03.12 23:41:14,000 kernel: USB (EHCI):Port 5 on bus 0xfa connected or disconnected: portSC(0x301002) 17.03.12 23:41:14,000 kernel: An Unknown USB Device (Port 5 of Hub at 0xfa000000), may have caused a wake by being connected Strangely enough, sleep used to work perfectly at some point. Probably a DSDT issue? Have you tried the "restart automatically after a power failure" checkbox? Wake on LAN settings in BIOS? Energy Management Schedule? Turning off automount for ntfs volumes? Does yours go to sleep for a second, then wake up immediately without the monitor waking up? Because this is what mine does.

Low CPU performance with Native Speedstepping

hey LatinMcG, thanks for checking out my stuff. Yeah I dont really remember but i think i had a lot of KPs without evoreboot, not sure though and I will definitely test it ^^ LPT/COM and alike are already disabled in the BIOS, anything else i can do to edit them out of the DSDT? Do you know if the restartfix is also included in the bootfile by Kabyl? And what exactly can I do to match the chassis version to the alias as you proposed? My knowledge of hackintoshes was on the steep decline as i bought the 5850 radeon without any option to really use it, so i took a far too long break from all that stuff, not backing up my DSDTs from earlier builds. Funny enough, the Speedstep issue does not seem to be one: As I already mentioned the temps were rather fine and corresponded to what i had seen in Windows - Cinebench seemed to be off. I tried rendering using the regular cinema 4D and meassured the time taken to render specific example scenes and compared them to my results within windows... lo and behold: the results are exactly the same. Ergo, my system is performing more or less as it should, yaaay of course OpenGL performance is terrible but i guess that can't really be helped for now (QE/CI are enabled).
  7. Hey guys, after tinkering for ages with my DSDT and overall setup, i think i have gotten native speedstepping to work (judging by the temperatures). however, my cinebench scores are far lower than within windows, which did not use to be the case. (osx scores used to exceed windows scores). it might correlate with a hardware change, a new radeon 5850, but it think its more of a speedstep issue. I am really lost here, perhaps someone can point me in the right direction? ah and cpu-x by the way, is reporting 3ghz all the time (max speed of my q6600). mobo: ga-ep45-ds3 send_me.zip

HP Mini 311 - Support Questions/Requests PART II

Hey guys, I asked a couple of posts ago but my question seems to have gone unnoticed. I am on the latest retail pack and 10.6.4 and am experiencing problems with my com.apple.boot.plist as it somehow goes unnoticed by chameleon. I tried a sudo chmod -R 755 com.apple.boot.plist and chown'ed it to root:wheel but still it does not reflect the changes I make to it (default partition, theme, etc) and I am sure that my syntax within the file is correct, as it works beautifully on my desktop. The plist resides on my main partition in /Extra/ and the only thing that happens if I change it drastically, is a kernel panic on boot. but all of the options I change never have any true effect. Any ideas?
  9. I can confirm that my wifi button does nothing with the half-height dell 1510 card. Further i can confirm that 10.6.4. works just fine on retail pack 0.9.

HP Mini 311 - Support Questions/Requests PART II

hey guys, i just reinstalled snow leo after not using it for a while. efi partition is empty and unmounted, using the retail pack with chameleon installed to the hfs+ partition snow leo is on, did that with the help of "lizard". everything works perfectly, except that the changes i make to my com.apple.boot.list appear to be ignored, i had that one before but dont remember how i fixed it. the one in the system/library/preferences is left untouched and standard, my current one looks like this: <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?> <!DOCTYPE plist PUBLIC "-//Apple//DTD PLIST 1.0//EN" "http://www.apple.com/DTDs/PropertyList-1.0.dtd"> <plist version="1.0"> <dict> <key>EthernetBuiltIn</key> <string>Yes</string> <key>Graphics Mode</key> <string>1366x768x32</string> <key>Kernel</key> <string>mach_kernel</string> <key>Legacy Logo</key> <string>Yes</string> <key>Theme</key> <string>Default</string> <key>Timeout</key> <string>3</string> </dict> </plist> Right now the legacy logo does not show, i have a more graphical one showing up. timeout does not work either. chameleon boots up in gui mode with the boot banner active, but distorted, with an incorrect aspect ratio. so apparently my settings are ignored to some extent, but on the other hand within osx everything is perfect. Still i would love to set the default partition for cham myself etc., can anybody give me a hint as to why chameleon is not picking up my plist? btw i used the one from the retail pack to begin with, which was giving me the same issues. Thanks in Advance, W.

Lenovo Ideapad S12 Ion Development Thread

you guys list the ion chipset and 9400m as vanilla, which is why i would like to ask if you experience dramatically shorter battery life compared to windows. it seems to me as though the current ion solutions do not make use of the nvidia powermizer functions that throttle the gpu/speedstep it. i came across this issue on the hp mini 311 and wondered whether the s12 shares these problems.
  12. Is there such a huge difference between the 9400M and the ION? I thought since the 9400M was already used in macbooks and the mac mini, the ION would be a close relative?
  13. Hey guys, thanks for the great work, especially to mowglibook and his awesome packages I am on F14 and 0.9c right now and very pleased with the result, although as you also know the battery life is immensely short when running on osx despite the working powermanagement. Right now around 2,5h are the maximum I get during regular web use, which is odd because e.g. the lenovo s10e performs roughly the same on osx and windows, in terms of battery life, and ends up running for far longer on both. the mini 311 on the other hand is running for way shorter periods on battery when under osx, as compared to windows. Also the fan runs noticeable more often in osx, could it be that perhaps some power-saving option concerning the nvidia ion chipset is not taken advantage of fully and therefore causes the netbook to heat up more frequently and also way beyond the temps we have in win7? (which would also explain the shortened battery time?!)
  14. Hey there, I have been successfully running a snow leo and win 7 multiboot combo for quite a while now. Now I decided to format a HFS+ partition in FAT so I can access it via windows and eventually turn it into an NTFS partition. Unluckily Windows 7 only recognizes it as a huge chunk of free space with my other HFS+ partitions in there. I have everything on one hard drive, the Order is as follows: Chameleon (HFS+) Snow (HFS+) Win7 (NTFS) Stuff (HFS+) Stuff2(FAT) The scheme is GUID. I assume Windows cannot see the last partition due to the messy overall structure? Or do I need to format the partition from outside the system, e.g. via the Win7 boot CD or Gparted? Or do I need to rearrange the entire Layout for it to work? My goal is to have the "Stuff2" Partition visible in Win so I can use it from there. Thanks for your help!
