  1. Darn it son borrowed 1400 and did system updates now I get KP. Do I remove/ add kexts as per 10.6.3 tutorial or is it a reinstall??
  2. The trackpad worked but no scrolling or double tap - it appeared as a mouse not track pad. Following deleting the IOUSBFamily.kext and reinstalling from the retail DVD version I get constant KPs so trying to re-install again.
  3. Install worked apart from trackpad failing (works but erratic) camera fails probably due to IOUSBFamily.kext how can I remove this? On reboot KP every time so I booted using ignore kext cache and it worked fine. In verbose mode seemed to be something to do with Voodoo.ps2. So installed and ran Pfix3 that seemed to fix the issue. So just need to fix the trackpad. Note the trackpad worked fine under the Version 2 guide. Getting there...
  4. The 10.6.3 update killed the system so I am re-installing again using version 4 of your guide - fingers crossed...
  5. xRotorHead - excellent guide! I have installed OSX 10.6 on an MSI wind clone and have been dabbling for ages trying to get a good version working on my Vostro 1400. Everything went well just downloading the 10.6.3 update. The only thing not working so far is the track pad - its working but shows as a mouse in system prefs. I'll add the xext voodoohda back in again when the updates finished and the DVD drive is working again. I that fails I'll try to find an updated voodoohda to see if that helps at all. Many thanks for you work - respect!
  6. Having problems installing 10.6 on a Dell Vostro 1400 that's with T7500 cpu (2.2 Dualcore) 4gb ram and the Intel GM965 chipset. SATA hdd (250gb) and DVD drives and NVidia GS8400m 128mb ACHI set in bios and usb setting correct. Boot-132 tried first. dvd seems to boot fine and use F8 to add in the - v parameter and it continues to boot from retail dvd. Darwin starts and the resolution of the screen changes. Then I get a panic with the following detail:- panic(cpu 0 caller 0x00407075): "ACPI: AcpiOsFree"@/VoodooKernel/xnu-1228.7.58/iokit/Kernel/IOLib.cpp:724 Debugger called: <panic> backtrace (cpu 0), Frame : Return Address (4 potential args on stack) ** lots of 0x5a793xxxx lines **** Backtrace continues Kernel loadable modules in backtrace (with dependencies): com.apple.driver.AppleACPIPlatform(1.0.3)@0x5489a0 00->0x548d0fff dependancy: com.apple.iokit.IOPCIFamily (2.4.1)@0x5483d0000 dependancy: com.apple.iokit.IOAPIFamily (1.2.8 )@0x5483d0000 Phew ;-) Any one got any idea whats going on or how to get the install working? I managed to do a vanilla install of 10.6.1 on an MSI wind - but on the Vostro I cannot get anything to boot -s- similar errors trying boot123 OSX86 boot disks. Either via usb DVD drive or usb disk. I guess there is some kext that needs removing/ replacing to prevent the panic. Can this be done by modding the install disk so at least it will install from the Vostro? Currently folloing the instructions here. Installing OSX onto a new disk from another Mac (MSI wind - 10.6.2) Created install and OSX parts. restored install to the disk and ran installer to the SL part on the new disk. System restarts after about 30% sone. Tried using external USB dvd and retail disk. Ideally I'd like to be able to boot from a usb drive (a la Dalton's Vanilla install for the wind) but I have bneen messing for hours and would just like to know how to get the thing to work. Sorry to ramble just giving all the info ;-)
